Background / History

Yang Jian was born to Yao Ji, an immortal and sister of the Jade Emperor, and Yang Tianyou, a mortal who saved Yao Ji by giving her half of his heart. They had three children: Yang Jiao, Yang Jian, and Yang Chan. When the Jade Emperor discovered the marriage, Yang Tianyou and Yang Jiao were killed, while Yao Ji was suppressed beneath Peach Mountain under the Heavenly Rules 791.

Yang Jian later became Yu Ding Zhenren’s disciple and acquired formidable magical power. He eventually cleaved mountains to rescue his mother and began his rise through the Three Realms. After participating in the Investiture of the Gods War and marrying Ao Cunxin, he became the Judicial God, the highest-ranking enforcer of the Heavenly Court under the Jade Emperor and Queen Mother 791.

His power increased dramatically when Yao Ji was burned to death by the Ten Golden Crows. Consumed by hatred, Yang Jian killed nine of them and rebelled against the Heavenly Court 791 820. His rebellion was driven by both personal revenge and his opposition to the Heavenly Court’s treatment of his family.

Afterward, Yang Jian dedicated himself to managing the Weak Water, seeking to prevent it from destroying the mortal realm. He worked with the Dragon Kings, Marshal Tianpeng, Nezha, and others to transport the Weak Water into the Heavenly River 808 823.

Yang Jian was later deceived and killed by Fifth Lord while conquering the Meishan Brothers. The Lotus Lantern restored him, allowing him to recover his magic power and continue his struggle against the Heavenly Court 821 822.

Rebellion Against the Heavenly Court

Yang Jian’s hatred of the Jade Emperor drove him to attack the Heavenly Court. He stormed the South Heaven Gate, fought Celestial forces, and pursued revenge for Yao Ji’s death 794 803.

His power later weakened when the Queen Mother manipulated his emotions and dissolved his hatred. Yang Jian nevertheless retained enough judgment to attempt an escape with Nezha and continue resisting capture 804 805.

The Weak Water Crisis

Yang Jian shifted from personal rebellion to protecting the mortal realm when the Weak Water threatened countless lives. He worked with the Dragon Kings and other allies to lift and transport it into the Heavenly River 808 823.
