Background
Cloud and Wind are the eternal Children of the World of the Storm Riders World rather than temporary Children of Destiny. Together, they possess eighty percent of that world’s origin power; Nüwa also left them behind as two of her three savior stars. Their world-origin protection makes them extraordinarily difficult to kill, with hostile attempts often becoming opportunities for their growth instead. 435 516 1320
Cloud was raised under Lord Conqueror’s influence and once refrained from killing his severely injured master because he wished to repay the kindness of being raised. His resentment over Kong Ci was also not absolute: when he believed Lord Conqueror would allow him to be with her, he was prepared to abandon revenge and serve him loyally. 473 515
After losing his memories, Cloud lived as a fisherman with Zi Ning and Yu Chuchu. He instinctively protected Zi Ning when Wang Ming’s group found them, then began trusting Wang Ming after Zi Ning’s blindness was cured. Cloud subsequently helped reclaim the Underworld Society and accepted the Crimson Blood Sword from Wang Ming. 474 475 479
Despite his missing memories, Cloud retained his combat instincts. He later lived peacefully with Zi Ning and Yu Chuchu at the Underworld Society, concentrating on protecting his family while Qin Shuang remained concerned that Cloud’s old hatred of Lord Conqueror might return. 487 497
Appearance
Cloud is usually described as expressionless and cold, with an intensely fierce aura that unsettles those around him. In battle, he is often seen with an ink-black cloak and the Peerless Sword. 540 1326
- Stern, nearly emotionless expression. 540
- Carries a palpable killing intent and oppressive martial presence. 540
- Wears an ink-black cloak during the Chaoge campaigns. 1326
- Frequently fights with the pitch-black Peerless Sword. 462
Personality
Cloud appears domineering and aloof, but his fighting style is highly technical rather than brute-force based. He studies an opponent’s rhythm, identifies weaknesses, and forces them into close combat where charged techniques cannot be completed. 498 500
He is fiercely persistent in matters involving people he values. He risked himself to protect Wind even while Wind was demonized, accepted Broken Wave’s challenge to buy time for Zi Ning and Yu Chuchu to escape, and consistently prioritizes his family’s safety. 443 467 500
His courage is rooted in an unwillingness to yield. Even in seemingly unwinnable battles, Cloud retains the will to fight, finds an opening, and turns danger into a counterattack. 467 484 1323
Abilities & Skills
Swordsmanship
Cloud is an elite swordsman whose precision, speed, and adaptability let him contest enemies with superior cultivation or equipment.
- Uses Holyspirit Swordplay—Sword Twenty-One to create dense, high-speed sword energy and exploit openings in an enemy’s defense. 441 443
- Uses the self-created Cloud Ten Swords, including Sword Mark and Sword Like Clouds; the latter makes his sword energy flexible enough to counter heavy weapons. 568 1320
- Can unleash hundreds of thousands of fine sword-energy strikes, shattering stronger-looking sword energy through precision. 1327
- His swordsmanship can force spellcasters and treasure-users into close-range sword combat before they can complete their techniques. 1320
- Limitation: Jian Yue’s knowledge of nearly every sword technique in the Sword Domain allowed him to read Cloud’s swordplay, forcing Cloud to switch tactics. 564 568
World Separating Sword
Cloud’s World Separating Sword produces extraordinarily condensed, red sword energy capable of cutting through Demonic Qi and physical obstacles.
- Its sword aura shattered Wind’s demonic blade aura and left deep cuts through stone, weapons, and the ground. 462
- The technique’s concentrated sword energy can weaken demonic defenses. 462
- Wang Ming considered prolonged use dangerous enough that Cloud could eventually harm himself through overexertion. 468
Cloud Dispensing Palm
Cloud supplements his swordsmanship with Cloud Dispensing Palm and Cloud Ten Palm techniques, allowing him to fight effectively when sword techniques are ineffective.
- Sky-Rending Cloud Dispelling tears apart an opponent’s offense and creates openings for grappling or follow-up attacks. 487
- Ominous Clouds Descend uses his cloak and true energy to form a crushing, palm-like trap. 500
- His palm techniques bypassed Jian Yue’s sword-knowledge advantage and gradually suppressed him in the Sword Domain. 568
- He can use a palm technique while maintaining sword combat with his other hand. 1327
Deflecting Blows and Combat Talent
Cloud’s innate battle talent is his defining strength. He instinctively locates weaknesses, redirects force, and interrupts an enemy’s momentum.
- Can hold his own against opponents several realms above him by identifying flaws in their attacks. 484
- Uses close-range pressure to prevent enemies such as Broken Wave from gathering power for stronger techniques. 486 500
- Redirects or dissipates incoming force rather than meeting every strike head-on. 500
- His combat instincts remained intact even after he lost his memories. 475 487
Qilin Arm
Cloud’s Qilin Arm grants him fire-associated power and unusual control over hostile sword energy.
- Absorbed the Fire Qilin Sword’s sword Qi during his duel with Broken Wave. 486
- Strengthens his manifestation of Fire God’s Wrath, producing an unusually solid Fire God phantom. 550
- Contributes Qilin fire energy to the chaotic fusion of powers within Cloud’s body. 502
Maha-pramana and Storm Fusion
Cloud and Wind can combine their powers into devastating joint techniques.
- Maha-pramana combines their power into a destructive wind-and-cloud assault capable of threatening Emperor Shitian. 551
- Their combined attacks can secretly empower Cloud’s Peerless Sword and deceive stronger opponents. 553 556
- Storm Fusion transforms their combined force into a sword-blade tornado manifesting wind, cloud, thunder, lightning, ice, frost, snow, and fire. 1327
- Limitation: Repeated use causes severe physical and mental exhaustion; Jian Yue also interrupted Maha-pramana before it could fully form. 552 569
World-Child Destiny
Cloud’s fate is an extraordinary defensive advantage tied to the Storm Riders World.
- Attempts to kill Cloud can be interrupted by improbable accidents or instead accelerate his growth. 435 468
- His world-origin status gives him greater existential weight than ordinary Children of Destiny from other worlds. 1320 1324
- His fate can neutralize the influence of other destiny-bearers rather than guaranteeing victory; genuine superiority still depends on strength. 1324
Equipment
- Peerless Sword — Cloud’s primary divine sword; it absorbed most of Lord Godless’s nearly fatal punch and is the weapon most suited to Cloud’s union of man and sword. 443 1327
- Crimson Blood Sword — A broad, tipless sword given by Wang Ming. True energy forms a laser-like blade tip that greatly amplifies cutting power and can erode an opposing weapon’s sword Qi. 479 486 516
- Qilin Arm — A fire-infused arm capable of absorbing sword Qi and empowering Fire God’s Wrath. 486 550
- Dragon Essence — Enhances Cloud’s overall attributes and grants a Reincarnation Phenomenon that lets him survive otherwise fatal damage. 564 574 579
- Immortal Decapitating Sword — A sword from the Four Swords of Zhuxian that Cloud temporarily wielded when its raw attributes compensated for his inability to achieve complete sword-union with it. 1327
Relationships
- Wind — Junior brother, closest combat partner, and fellow Child of the World. Their trust enables Maha-pramana and Storm Fusion; Cloud refuses to kill Wind even when he is demonized. 467 551 1327
- Nameless — Adoptive father and sword mentor. They repeatedly fight together against Lord Godless, Wind, Emperor Shitian, and Jian Yue. 443 466 568
- Qin Shuang — Senior brother who worries about Cloud’s unresolved feelings toward Lord Conqueror and intervenes to save Wind from Cloud’s blade. 467 497
- Wang Ming / Lord Conqueror — Master figure with a complicated history. Cloud initially distrusts Wang Ming after his memory loss, but grows loyal after Wang Ming cures Zi Ning and provides protection, training, and the Crimson Blood Sword. 475 479 486
- Zi Ning — Wife. Cloud fiercely protects her, particularly during her blindness and pregnancy. 475 497 500
- Yu Chuchu — Wife. Cloud accepts her son Yun’er as his own and risks his life to give her time to escape danger. 497 515 500
- Huo Bu Tian — Stepfather who treated Cloud as a son and intended to pass down the Huo family’s sword technique; Cloud once took the name Huo Jingjue in acknowledgment. 515
- Broken Wave — Longstanding rival whose duels repeatedly test Cloud’s instincts, swordsmanship, and emotional control. 486 500 502
Story Role / Major Arcs
Lord Godless Conflict
Cloud joined Nameless and Wind against Lord Godless. He exploited the weakness in Lord Godless’s Imperishable Golden Body with Sword Twenty-One, but was nearly killed by a punch that the Peerless Sword partially absorbed. 441 443
Wind’s Demonization
When Wind became a demonic killer, Cloud fought beside Nameless to stop him. The World Separating Sword cut through Wind’s Demonic Qi, and Cloud ultimately chose restraint over killing his junior brother. 462 467
Amnesia and the Underworld Society
After losing his memories, Cloud was found living with Zi Ning and Yu Chuchu. He followed Wang Ming back to the Underworld Society, received the Crimson Blood Sword, and defended Wang Ming against Broken Wave. 475 479 486
Broken Wave Duels
Cloud’s fights with Broken Wave display his instinctive talent at its clearest. Though often at a disadvantage in raw martial power, he traps Broken Wave in close combat, disrupts Eclipse Sun Swordplay, and later accepts battle to protect Zi Ning and Yu Chuchu. 486 500 502
Dragon-Slaying and Sword Domain Battles
Cloud and Wind challenged Emperor Shitian with Maha-pramana, then continued fighting through the Dragon Essence conflict and the Limitless Sword Domain. Against Jian Yue, Cloud abandoned sword techniques for Cloud Dispensing Palm when conventional swordsmanship became predictable. 551 564 568 569
Investiture of the Gods Conflict
Brought into the Investiture of the Gods World, Cloud and Wind fought for Chaoge against Chan Sect disciples. Cloud killed Jin Zha and Mu Zha with Sword Mark, held off Huang Tianhua with Sword Like Clouds, defeated Daoxing Tianzun, and injured several Golden Immortals. 1320 1327
Defense of Chaoge
As the Weeping God of Death, Cloud intervened against the million-strong Xi Qi coalition, disarmed enemy soldiers, repelled Ji Fa, and demonstrated immunity to the Human Dao force field. 1333
