Background / History

Zhao Yun grew up as an orphan alongside Dou Dou and Zhu'er after Han Batian adopted the three girls. She was the most meticulous and clear-headed of the sisters, helping them survive through theft and bounty-hunting work. She acted as the family's practical pillar and refused to lead pursuers back to their home even while exhausted and under pursuit. 335 350

Originally confident, flamboyant, and composed, Zhao Yun planned carefully for a future that could overcome her humble background. She valued a partner with power, influence, or heroic standing, believing marriage could offer a path to change her fate. 335

During the attempt to steal the Blood Ruyi for Yin Tianxue, faulty intelligence led to Zhao Yun losing her left hand. The disability left her insecure and increasingly extreme; her unrequited feelings for Tong Bo, his relationship with Dou Dou, and his marriage to Yin Tianxue intensified her jealousy into hostility. 335 1643

When Wang Ming arrives in Yin Tianqi's body, he initially keeps Zhao Yun alive because of her usefulness in maintaining Imperial Sword Manor. He later restores her left hand, gives her Dreamlike Infinity, and begins cultivating her as a capable ally. Zhao Yun's request that he save Dou Dou marks the beginning of her move away from the path of total malice. 333 352

Across repeated Time Loops, Zhao Yun retains knowledge of events that others do not. In altered cycles where she does not lose her hand, she remains notably more confident and less self-destructive. Her experiences also deepen her attachment to Zhu'er, whom she considers the one person who consistently cared for her through reincarnation cycles. 1564 1642

Appearance

Zhao Yun is repeatedly described as a peerlessly beautiful woman with an assertive, striking presence rather than a demure one. 333 1642

  • Snow-white, jade-like neck and fair complexion. 333
  • Beautiful eyes often described as clear, misty, or sharp depending on her mood. 335 1679
  • Wears a purple gown when publicly presenting herself as the Flying Immortal Sect's leader. 1572
  • Initially lacks her left hand after the Blood Ruyi mission; Wang Ming later regenerates it. 335 352
  • Pilots a Bronze Chariot pulled by Fire Qilin during the later war. 1642

Personality

Before losing her hand, Zhao Yun is self-assured, generous in manner, quick-witted, and openly ambitious. She is intensely aware of class and background, but her ambition is paired with practical planning rather than naïveté. 335

Her injury and rejection by Tong Bo leave her gloomy, jealous, and capable of ruthless schemes. Even so, she remains loyal to people she considers her own. She describes herself as decisive in killing rather than a good person, but insists that she does not abandon those who have protected her. 422

Wang Ming's influence broadens her perspective beyond her rivalry with Yin Tianxue and Tong Bo. She becomes calmer, more strategic, and more willing to cooperate with former enemies when survival demands it. Her choices remain pragmatic: she prioritizes Wang Ming, Zhu'er, and her own world over abstract ideals of saving everyone. 1642 1644 1669
