Background / History

Four-Eyes became the personal disciple of True Immortal Changsheng of Maoshan’s Corpse Herding Hall. He later joined Lin Fengjiao and Zhong Bai in studying talisman arts under the Talisman Hall, where he immediately distinguished himself through lavish praise of both fellow disciples. 9

After descending the mountain, he struggled to finance a Daoist Temple. Zhong Bai helped him sell an ancient Yuan blue-and-white plum vase for 300 taels of gold; Four-Eyes then used the funds to establish a temple on a remote road near mountains and water. 41 42 57

The temple became his base for corpse-herding work. He eventually accepted Jiale as a disciple and maintained a neighboring, combative friendship with Monk Yixiu. 128 155
