Background / History

Tian Buyi took Wang Quan Yan as a disciple of Grand Bamboo Peak five years before the latter’s return to prominence. Wang’s unprecedented early progress led Tian Buyi to arrange an engagement between him and his daughter, Tian Ling'er; when Wang stagnated at the Third Layer of Jade Purity, Tian Buyi nevertheless tried every available method to help him break through 1.

When Tian Ling'er sought to end the engagement in favor of Qi Hao, Tian Buyi saw through her attachment to Qi Hao and the Cooling Pearl, struck her in anger, and rushed to the Tai Chi Cave out of concern for Wang Quan Yan 2. There, he witnessed Wang emerge at the peak of the Ninth Layer of Jade Purity and unveil Heaven and Earth One Sword.
