Ch. 341I felt the world's unfairness
Plot points
- Kraft sends Bonnie away, locks the office, and reacts with disbelief when he realizes Edward’s visitors resemble characters from Nichijou. He recognizes Arale, Alice, and Angela, along with a dog and cat in red scarves.
- Edward introduces himself as Wang Mian, a version of Kraft from a parallel world. Kraft explains his own history, including that his system is now gone.
- Edward reacts bitterly to Kraft’s luck, then describes his life: he was reborn with his memories and a Great Scientist System, but its limited benefits only helped him learn and research faster.
- After discovering he was in the Marvel universe, Edward gave up on becoming exceptional. He works at Stark Industries for the salary, avoids superheroics, and considers his life comfortable enough.
- Edward says he has secretly built Iron Man suits but cannot use them without attracting Stark’s attention. His movie-based universe lacks organizations such as S.P.E.A.R. and S.A.B.E.R., leaving him with few appealing options.
- Kraft gives Edward a Nano Earpiece and introduces him to the Kraft Council Forum, where Edward learns about another counterpart who gained Assassin’s Creed abilities after losing his memories.
- Edward wonders whether deliberately giving himself amnesia might let him become “awesome.”
Character developments and interactions
- Kraft is curious about Edward’s system and admits he would like to study it, but quickly explains his own situation. He sympathizes with Edward and offers him access to the forum.
- Edward/Wang Mian is cautious, pragmatic, and resigned: he values safety over power and has no desire to become a hero. Yet hearing about Kraft’s system and the Assassin counterpart reveals lingering envy and ambition.
- Quinn jokes that Edward seems mentally unwell, while the unusual group’s arrival adds to his confusion.
Significant themes
- Unequal luck and unfairness: Edward resents Kraft’s apparent advantages and laments the different fortunes of their parallel selves.
- Choice versus risk: Edward declines heroic opportunities because he lacks confidence and fears the consequences.
- Identity and alternate paths: The parallel-world counterparts show how different circumstances—and even memory loss—can radically change the same person’s life.
