Background / History

Kakashi was a teammate and close friend of Obito Uchiha and served under Minato Namikaze. He believed Obito had died after being buried beneath rocks during the Battle of Kannabi Bridge. The later revelation that Obito survived, was altered through human experimentation, and was connected to Minato’s death shattered Kakashi’s composure and trust in Konoha’s leadership 11 12.

After learning of Obito’s possible survival, Kakashi publicly pressed Hiruzen Sarutobi for the truth. His grief and fixation grew severe enough that he appeared haggard and exhausted, yet he remained determined to locate Obito and protect Konoha 56 58.

During the inquiry into the Uchiha Clan Downfall, Kakashi was detained with seal runes suppressing his chakra. He apologized to Naruto and revealed that Naruto was Minato’s son, accusing Hiruzen of using Naruto as a political tool 33.
