"Indra!"
"Beneath the Ocean of Milk lies all the power and splendor you seek, along with the Amrita of eternal life."
Vishnu spoke slowly.
Vishnu issued an S-rank quest—Churn the Ocean of Milk!
Quest rewards: restoration of divine power, other treasures, and the Amrita of eternal life.
"However..."
"Asura King Golden-Eyed is currently moving Mandara Mountain. Under Sukra's guidance, he intends to use Mandara Mountain to churn the Ocean of Milk by himself."
Hearing this, Indra nodded in sudden understanding.
"So Golden-Eyed wants to make jelly first. He wants to churn the Ocean of Milk into jelly, but he isn't big enough himself, so he's using Mandara Mountain as a stick to stir out the Ocean of Milk's essence!"
Vishnu tilted his head.
There was something strange about Indra's wording, but that was indeed the case.
"That's right!"
Vishnu nodded solemnly.
"Golden-Eyed possesses the power of blessings. His strength now far exceeds yours. You are no match for him!"
Vishnu's tone shifted. With a smile on his face, he laid out their present predicament.
At those words, the gods immediately panicked, confused and uneasy.
Agni opened his mouth. Surya's face darkened, making his emotions impossible to read. Varuna stood there blankly in confusion, while Vayu's body swayed.
Boom!
Rumble!
The black Ocean of Milk churned endlessly. Golden-Eyed Asura's enormous body suddenly appeared as he embraced the incomparably vast Mandara Mountain, like a pillar supporting the heavens, and slowly descended into the Ocean of Milk.
The heaven-and-earth-supporting Mandara Mountain rested in Golden-Eyed Asura's arms.
His massive waist bent slightly forward as he moved slowly, like an old bear rubbing against a tree, beginning the churning.
The vast Ocean of Milk threw up boundless waves. The black waves stretched endlessly, immeasurable across hundreds of millions of miles, beyond trillions upon trillions, nearly infinite.
Amid the towering waves of the Ocean of Milk, the gods were thrown into a panic.
"Golden-Eyed is simply impossible for us to defeat!"
"Lord, please save us!"
"Lord, act quickly!"
Vayu and the other gods hurriedly cried out.
Hearing this, Vishnu merely smiled without speaking. He looked toward Indra and said slowly, "Indra, what do you think?"
"The Ocean of Milk is infinitely broad, infinitely deep, and infinitely accommodating. He can stand upon its surface with divine power alone, but carrying Mandara Mountain, the center of the world... he will likely sink."
Indra analyzed.
The gods and Asuras would not be the only ones exerting effort in churning the Ocean of Milk.
After bringing Mandara Mountain over, they would still need Vishnu to transform into a divine turtle as a winch, supporting Mandara Mountain so that it would not sink into the Ocean of Milk.
Even if Golden-Eyed Asura possessed boundless divine strength, it could not compare to the countless sands of the Ganges, much less immeasurable numbers.
Once his divine power was exhausted, if Golden-Eyed refused to let go of Mandara Mountain, he would be dragged down into the Ocean of Milk.
"Carrying a train lunchbox isn't so easy, much less when you're holding Mandara Mountain!"
"Golden-Eyed, I bet you don't have an indestructible diamond kidney!"
Thinking this, Indra looked toward Garuda.
"Garuda!"
Indra turned his head and said, "Go to the Heavenly Realm and bring all the other gods, as well as the many Gandharvas. Churning the Ocean of Milk cannot be done without them either!"
Garuda's mouth twitched.
He was not the Heavenly Emperor's subordinate, and he had no desire to obey Indra's orders.
"Though I should respect you, that is not a reason for you to order me around!"
Garuda retorted.
"Mm, you're right. He won't be able to hold on for long!" Vishnu smiled softly. "Garuda! Indra is right. Go!"
Garuda: "..."
Garuda looked utterly speechless.
The Lord had been bewitched by Indra!
But now that the Lord had spoken, he could only do as told.
Whoosh!
Garuda spread his wings and flew toward the Heavenly Realm.
At that moment, Vishnu tilted his head. The Chakravyuha in his hand spun continuously, while his gaze, like the wind, swept across Indra's entire body.
He was somewhat surprised.
If this had been the old Indra, he would certainly have mocked Golden-Eyed first, then furiously cursed him for overestimating himself and coveting the Heavenly Emperor's throne, calling him utterly unforgivable.
His gaze shifted and fell upon Golden-Eyed on the other side. Golden-Eyed's steps were growing heavier and heavier. The Ocean of Milk had already submerged his ankles and was spreading toward his knees.
Boom!
Rumble!
Golden-Eyed held Mandara Mountain in both arms. With his divine power unleashed, he used Mandara Mountain as a pillar to churn the boundless Ocean of Milk.
"Teacher, I can't hold on any longer!"
Golden-Eyed panted heavily. His dazzling eyes were bloodshot, and his entire body began sinking into the Ocean of Milk.
"This is bad!"
Seeing this, Sukra silently cursed the situation.
Golden-Eyed had originally intended to use Mandara Mountain to churn the Ocean of Milk. If he truly dropped Mandara Mountain into the Ocean of Milk, the Trimurti would definitely intervene.
Golden-Eyed would be in danger then!
Sukra's face turned grave. He quickly shouted from the side, "Hold on! I'll immediately go to the Netherworld and summon the Asuras who still have strength. Do not let the gods interfere!"
Whoosh!
As soon as he finished speaking, Sukra immediately set off for the Netherworld to bring back a great host of Asura soldiers to help stabilize Mandara Mountain.
Golden-Eyed's eyes flew open.
His enormous body stood over the Ocean of Milk. His arms reddened as he held the gigantic mountain, erupting with dragon-elephant strength that terrified the gods.
For a moment, Mandara Mountain truly steadied!
"Lord, why not simply take Mandara Mountain back from his hands?"
Surya pressed his palms together and respectfully addressed Vishnu.
"He is currently holding Mandara Mountain and has not allowed it to sink into the Ocean of Milk. He has not harmed the world or violated dharma. Unless necessary, the Trimurti will not interfere with the world!"
Vishnu said softly.
So we have to follow the rules, huh?
"Then let's go tickle him!" Indra waved his hand, calling the gods as he flew forward.
"!!!"
The gods were terrified.
Yet out of trust in Heavenly Emperor Indra and the Lord, they still followed.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Indra flew before Golden-Eyed's sun-like eyes and hovered there. Looking at the body so immense that he could not see its full extent, he could not help but feel astonished.
So huge!
The disparity in size was such that although he stood before Golden-Eyed, Golden-Eyed could not see him at all.
"Let me blind your eyes!"
Indra gathered both hands at his waist and activated his divine power. A violent mass of lightning burst forth between his palms. He thrust his hands outward and fired a Kamehameha, instantly hurling it toward Golden-Eyed's eyes.
Rumble!
Lightning shot forth.
The blinding lightning tore through the sky and shook endless space, flashing abruptly before Golden-Eyed's eyes.
"Hm? Ah!!!"
A tremendous roar, like crashing waves and rumbling earthquakes, suddenly erupted.
Golden-Eyed's eyes stung. With a bewildered expression, he immediately squeezed them shut.
When he opened his eyes again, he instantly realized that he had been ambushed. Focusing his gaze, he followed the lightning.
The gods were standing right beside him.
"Indra!"
Golden-Eyed's voice was like thunder, ringing across the Ocean of Milk and making Indra's ears buzz.
Indra raised one hand and pointed at him.
"Golden-Eyed, I'm here to negotiate terms!"
