Background / History

Qing Xuan discovers Da Bai on Fangcun Immortal Mountain, where he encounters the Fuzhu as a Spiritual Beast and gives him the name “Da Bai.” Da Bai acknowledges Qing Xuan as his master, then accompanies him to Yingzhou Immortal Mountain during the exploration for innate treasures. 2

When Qing Xuan leaves the Three Immortal Islands to enter the wider Primordial World, he leaves Da Bai behind as their guardian. At the time, Da Bai has reached Heavenly Immortal Completion. 3

Da Bai defends Penglai during Ao Bao's century-long assault. After Qing Xuan returns and reorganizes the islands, Da Bai reaches Golden Immortal, learns to speak, receives the title King of Ten Thousand Beasts, and is again entrusted with guarding their home during Qing Xuan's seclusion. 6 7

Following Qing Xuan's preaching, Da Bai reaches the peak of Grand Unity Golden Immortal. He later recounts his defeat of Dragon Clan member Ao Yue to the other Spiritual Beasts, prompting Qing Xuan to grant him a Yellow Middle Plum for his next breakthrough. 9 12

During Qing Xuan's closed-door cultivation, Da Bai secretly leaves the Three Immortal Islands and meets Bai Ze. Their friendship begins over hotpot, after which Da Bai teaches Bai Ze to use chopsticks and invites him to join the islands and the Myriad Spirit Alliance. 25

Da Bai and Bai Ze subsequently join the emerging Demon Race after Di Jun mistakes them for members of the Witch Race and attacks them. The two agree to Di Jun's invitation because of the offered innate spirit treasures. 28
