Background / History

Chong Ying was raised within the Chong family, whose elders recognized her rare Insect Gu constitution as an opportunity to restore the family’s former standing. Her grandfather sent her to Fifth Middle School despite her father’s fear that the school’s ominous circumstances would kill her. Qiu She, a costly and arrogant high-level ghost insect, had been sealed within Chong Ying in the hope that she could eventually form a symbiosis with it. 86 233

Her purpose at Fifth Middle School was to find the Myriad-footed White Pangolin. Chong Ying believed the powerful ghost insect could remove the intermediate ghost insect backlashing within her dying mother’s body; she could not safely use Qiu She herself because she lacked reliable control over it. 101 187
