Background / History
Chaldea was co-created by Marisbury Animusphere and Rin Tohsaka to recruit talented people from around the world and strengthen the institution. Rin's private funding accelerated its development, and it was initially an institution entirely belonging to the Animsphere family. 62 157
After six years of development, Chaldea completed its Fate System on the same day Rin completed her Spiritual System. The project included an inner research facility, survival-pod experiments, and a Servant project made smoother by Rin's Blank Spirit Foundation data. 62
Chaldea's first Spiritron transfer was carried out in 2015 using the completed Spiritron Calculation Device, Trismegistus, targeting the 2004 Fuyuki Holy Grail War. It subsequently began responding to multiple Singularities and the wider threat of Humanity Incineration. 80
Following an explosion in the control room, Rin, Marisbury, and Olga Marie were transferred into a Singularity. Da Vinci assumed temporary command, placed Chaldean Masters in cryostasis, repaired damaged equipment, and restored communications with Rin. 87
Chaldea later deployed its Spiritual Computer and entered the Soul World through imaginary space. The institution itself disappeared from its former location, leaving behind an observation device while the expanding Spiritual World connected normally to the Spiritron Sea and Pan-Human History. 103 189
As Chaldea absorbed or relocated communities from Singularities, its Soul World became home to realms including Egypt, France, Tokyo, Rome, and Britain. Its growing population and resources also produced internal factions competing for influence. 127 133 174

Facilities and Systems
| System / Facility | Function | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fate System | Supports Chaldea's Servant project and Fate Summoning. | Completed after six years; Chaldea successfully initiated Fate Summoning after communications were restored. 62 87 |
| Trismegistus | Spiritron Calculation Device. | Used during Chaldea's first documented Spiritron-transfer operation. 80 |
| Spiritron transfer system | Sends personnel into Singularities. | Requires time anchoring under normal conditions; Fujimaru and Mash can transfer even without it due to their exceptional compatibility. 80 282 |
| Spiritual Computer | Created and deployed the first phase of the Soul World. | Begun when Chaldea was founded; its deployment connected the Soul World to the Spiritron Sea and Pan-Human History. 103 274 |
| Phenomenon Record Computer Demon · Laplace | Super spiritual computer and analytical system. | Originally created the first Soul World phase; Da Vinci later incorporated Great Qin and Servant Universe technology into it. 274 |
| Spiritron Sea | Magical-energy reserve for transfers and Heroic Spirits. | Chaldea can convert absorbed Singularity matter into stored spiritrons; during the R'lyeh operation, it expended the reserve to give fighting Heroic Spirits near-infinite magical energy. 176 |
| Temple of Heroes | Base or gathering point for Chaldea's Heroic Spirits. | Houses Heroic Spirits whose power surpasses Mash's in combat capability. 112 |
| Automated Doll Production Lines | Mass-produces combat automatons from stockpiled materials. | Deployed to support the Clock Tower against the Great Qin Empire. 196 |
Soul World
The Soul World is Chaldea's spiritron-based domain, reached through imaginary space. Its hidden imaginary space is a collective projection of the inner worlds of countless living beings; Chaldea itself entered the Soul World and attained a spiritron state. 189
| Realm / population | Status within Chaldea |
|---|---|
| Egypt | A new Egyptian dynasty was established under Cleopatra. 133 |
| France | Mobilized alongside other Soul World nations during Chaldea's highest alert. 180 |
| Tokyo Metropolis | Open to all Chaldea members and governed by Kiritsugu Emiya; humans and Dead Apostles coexist there. 133 |
| Rome and Britain | Constituent realms mobilized alongside Egypt, France, and Tokyo during emergencies. 180 |
| Ruined Norse world | Converted into spiritrons and taken by Chaldea's system to establish the second Singularity's human foundation. 132 |
| Great Qin Empire | Relocated to a suitable planet in the universe rather than annexed; Qin Shi Huang recognized Chaldea as an eternal ally. 204 208 |
Operations and Capabilities
Singularity Response
- Conducts reconnaissance, Spiritron transfers, assault deployments, and reinforcements across Singularities. 80 222
- Can dispatch multiple assault teams and place additional teams on 24-hour standby during major crises. 232
- Uses Chaldean detection equipment to scan Singularities, analyze enemy energy levels, and collect battlefield intelligence. 198 243
- Recruits, negotiates with, or captures powerful local figures and Heroic Spirits to expand its operational strength. 173 213
Large-Scale Mobilization
- Can activate the highest alert level, release reserve supplies, and mobilize personnel from every Soul World realm when Rin is endangered. 180
- Fielded nearly one-third of its high-end combat power for the operation involving Cthulhu. 174
- Can support Heroic Spirits with vast Spiritron Sea reserves, though this is a major resource expenditure. 176
- Maintains combat personnel, puppets, magical barriers, ships, and the Queen Fleet for military operations. 103 190
Relocation and World-Building
- Can convert a damaged world into spiritrons for capture by its system. 132
- Has transferred nations and populations into the Soul World rather than treating them as annexed territories. 154 204
- Arranged the Great Qin Empire's relocation to another planet to preserve its people. 204 208
Limitations and Internal Issues
- Chaldea's operation is closely tied to Rin: when her connection to the Soul World was nearly severed and her clone was recalled, the core shut down and high command lost its special permissions to manage the Soul World. 232
- Rin's disappearance caused some Heroic Spirits to ignore Chaldea's commands, delaying exploration-team deployment and bringing the organization close to civil conflict. 224 232
- Communication can be disrupted by external interference; in one case, Chaldea could only intermittently communicate with Rin by expending massive magical power. 266
- Even after communications with Rin were re-established, Spiritron transfer support could remain unavailable because time anchoring had not been completed. 275 282
- The Soul World's relative safety encouraged factions within Chaldea to seek power and benefits rather than prioritize the outside world's survival. 127
- Touko's later consolidation of authority included a purge of personnel opposing her Creation plan, causing internal unrest and the covert removal of hundreds of people. 221
