Touko is first approached at Garan no Dou when Rin Tohsaka brings Sakura and Kirei Kotomine to request help reaching Alice Kuonji. Touko acts as the intermediary despite Alice's wariness and the curse that was supposed to keep Touko away from Misaki City, which Touko bypasses by changing bodies 19.

After meeting Rin, Touko becomes part of Rin's circle with Aoko and Arisu. She collaborates with Rin on the plan involving Ryougi Shiki and Souren Araya, grows accustomed to Rin's mischief, and helps investigate Kallian's masochistic spirit medium constitution 22 23 25.

Rin later asks Touko to become a consultant for the Tohsaka family, arguing that Touko can help protect her parents and Sakura while Rin prepares for future Holy Grail War threats. Touko accepts, and Tokiomi later provides her with a factory in Fuyuki that she transforms into a magecraft workshop 28 45.

In later conflicts, Touko becomes one of Rin's core allies rather than a hired specialist.
