When Xuanwei first began cultivating spirit plants in the abandoned medicine garden, Duobao regarded the new junior brother with stern scrutiny and apparent rejection. He believed cultivators should prioritize cultivation and Dao comprehension over external arts and resource gathering. To determine whether Xuanwei's dedication to spiritual plants was justified, he issued a demanding trial: clear ten mu of ruined spirit fields and grow low-grade Spirit Grass within one month, or abandon such work for a century. 12

Duobao witnessed Xuanwei's defense of the garden against demons and acknowledged his composure, use of terrain, and decisive action. Although he criticized Xuanwei's excessive killing, his attitude changed from rejection to observation and limited recognition. 13

After Xuanwei was injured by the Chaos Bead, Duobao noticed his depleted origin but chose not to press for an explanation.
