Background / History

The garden was an abandoned tract behind Biyou Palace when Ma Sui directed Xuanwei to it. Its spiritual energy had severely depleted, its soil was compacted and impure, and it was infested with Spirit-Devouring Rocks, Paralysis Poisonous Mushrooms, and Spirit-Devouring Vines 11 12.

Daoist Duobao made its restoration a trial: Xuanwei had to clear ten mu of wasteland and successfully grow low-grade Spirit Grass within one month. Xuanwei cleared the harmful growths, restored an earth-vein node, and germinated Spirit Grass seeds; after defending the revived grounds from four demons, he earned authority to manage the garden 12 13.

The garden became Xuanwei's primary source of contribution points and reputation within the Intercepting Sect. Using the Wutu Source, Wood Element Spiritual Qi, Chaos Qi, and later Torch Flame power, he could rapidly mature spiritual plants while raising their quality beyond ordinary specimens 17 19 24 29 30.

• Spirit-Nourishing Grass — among the first plants grown after the garden's restoration; later enhanced by Torch Flame power into a higher-quality variant with mind-calming and wisdom-inspiring properties 12 29.
• Clear Heart Bamboo — matured to three hundred years in five days to complete Fire Spirit Mother's commission 17 18.
• Vermillion Fruits and Jade Marrow Grapes — cultivated for the Myriad Immortals Gathering 19 20.
• Fire Dates, Ice Heart Orchids, and Thunderstruck Wood — grown and delivered through sect commissions 19.
• Thousand-Year Jade Marrow Grapes — part of Xuanwei's later custom spiritual-plant orders 29.

Accelerated cultivation

Xuanwei's methods combine the Wutu Source's life-nurturing nature with Wood Element Spiritual Qi and limited Chaos Qi. His rapid maturation techniques consume substantial personal energy and can tax the soil when used intensively 11 17.

After integrating Torch Flame power, his cultivation method no longer merely accelerated growth: it improved surrounding spiritual energy and did not drain the life force of neighboring plants or earth veins. This publicly disproved Lingxiao's accusation that the garden was being used for demonic cultivation 29 30.

Infrastructure

• Spirit Fields — cleared, restored, and planted after Xuanwei passed Daoist Duobao's trial 12 14.
• Earth-vein nodes — manipulated to return spiritual energy to depleted soil and later repeatedly reorganized after anomalies 12 45.
• Void Spirit Drawing Array — built above an earth-vein node using an Origin Particle of Space. It gathers surrounding spiritual energy into a spatial vortex and provides a slow, stable supply of Chaos Qi through the Chaos Bead 18 19.
• Restrictions and defensive formations — activated during periods of seclusion and reinforced after repeated disturbances 20 29 33.
• Underground sealing formation — strengthened with principles of the Black Tortoise Prison Suppressing Pattern to conceal the cave below and isolate internal Qi fluctuations 45.

Underground Cave and Light Cocoon

An underground cave beneath the garden contains a mysterious light cocoon connected to the Chaos Bead. The cocoon emits Chaos Qi and is believed to be a gestating lifeform, possibly an Innate Chaos Being or a nascent life related to a Chaos Demon God 26 41.

Initially, the cocoon absorbed earth-vein energy and the life force of the garden's spiritual plants, causing the plants to wilt. Xuanwei established a preliminary energy link by feeding it Chaos Spiritual Energy; this reduced its absorption of external life force by 80% and earned him Chaos Source Gel in return 26.

• The cocoon's energy link is initially one-directional and of low stability 26.
• Xuanwei regularly leaves Chaos Spiritual Energy for it before departing the garden 27 33.
• Its existence is treated as a closely guarded secret because its Chaos Origin could draw the Western Teachings' covetousness 41.
• Later disturbances damaged much of the garden and required the underground cave's entrance to be resealed 44 45.
• It later began absorbing and simulating ancient Humanity's Fortune, causing registered human disciples on Golden Ao Island to kneel toward the garden involuntarily 50.

Management

• Xuanwei — manager and restorer. He uses the garden for cultivation, sect commissions, spiritual-plant research, and supplying the light cocoon beneath it 13 18 26.
• Mo Yuan — Xuanwei's disciple and later resident caretaker. He was taught introductory Supreme Pure Immortal Method teachings, the Nine Tribulations Earth-Guarding Body, and basic garden formation-control incantations 46 47.
• Ma Sui — introduced Xuanwei to the abandoned garden, helped maintain it during Xuanwei's absence, and facilitated plant commissions 11 19 24.
• Daoist Duobao — set the initial restoration trial, granted Xuanwei management authority, and repeatedly warned him of earth-vein anomalies beneath the grounds 12 13 25 43.
