Youye (8000 LP) vs. Munin (8000 LP)
The Dueling Rules selected Munin to go first. Both sides drew five cards. The duel began.
There was no action during Youye's Standby Phase, and it went straight to Munin's Main Phase 1.
"I activate the Continuous Spell, Runick Allure. Each time either of us activates a Quick-Play Spell, the top card of your Deck is banished."
Munin immediately activated her archetype's Continuous Spell. Sheng Ning, who was watching, instantly felt her vision darken. Having dueled Munin before, she knew all too well just how disgusting this card would become. She looked at Youye with a trace of concern and a headache.
What if Munin broke Youye's spirit? How was she supposed to recruit him afterward?
Clearly, Munin did not care about that. She made another move.
"From my hand, I activate the effect of the Quick-Play Spell Runick Flashing Fire. I Special Summon 1 Runick monster from my Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. I choose to Special—"
Just as she was about to continue, she was shocked to discover that the timing had passed to Youye. He had a card in hand that could chain to her!
He had a hand trap!
At that thought, her initial curiosity immediately turned into excitement and anticipation. This was her first time encountering a hand trap in a face-to-face duel.
At that moment, Youye started a chain.
"I chain the effect of Dimension Shifter from my hand as Chain Link 2 to your Runick Flashing Fire. If there are no cards in my GY, I can send it to the GY to activate it. Until the end of the next turn, all cards from both sides are banished instead of being sent to the GY!"
"A Banish Hand Trap?"
Munin stared blankly.
She had dueled at least a thousand times in Master Duel, so how had she never seen this hand trap before?
And its effect applied to both sides. In other words, his cards would be banished whenever they were sent to the GY too. Wasn't he afraid of getting hindered by his own card's effect?
Sheng Ning's CPU had practically burned out. Who wasn't afraid of getting their cards banished when facing Munin? Yet here was this madman, using one hand trap to make both sides banish their cards.
But it was not like Youye's move was bad. It really had stopped Munin cold. Runick's core was recovering Quick-Play Spells from the GY with its Field Spell to draw cards and generate resources. Without recovery, its resource engine naturally broke apart.
"Any more chains?" Youye asked with a smile.
After he discarded Dimension Shifter, priority returned to Munin. Clearly, she still had cards she could chain.
Munin shook her head and chose not to continue the chain.
The effects resolved backward: Chain Link 2, Dimension Shifter, resolved successfully; Chain Link 1, Runick Flashing Fire, Special Summoned Runick Wings - Hugin in face-up Defense Position. (Runick Flashing Fire was banished.)
"Since I activated a Quick-Play Spell, the effect of the Continuous Spell Runick Tip activates. I can banish the top card of your Deck!"
"Next, I chain Hugin's effect upon being Special Summoned from the Extra Deck as Chain Link 2. I discard 1 card to activate it and add a Runick Field Spell to my hand. I discard Runick Dispelling from my hand!" (Runick Dispelling was banished.)
"Chain Link 2, Hugin's effect, adds the Field Spell Runick Fountain to my hand. Chain Link 1, Runick Allure's effect, banishes the top card of your Deck!"
Looking at the two cards she had had banished, while Youye had only lost one card to her banishing effect, Munin felt helpless for the first time in her life. In the past, wasn't she always the one banishing others' cards? Why had the duel only just begun, yet she had not banished her opponent's cards and had instead gotten hers banished?
And it would last for two turns. Next turn, she would have to deal with this again. For a moment, she did not even know whether she should activate her Field Spell.
If she activated it and it got banished, having to search for and activate another Field Spell would be a huge loss of cards. But if she did not activate it, she only had Hugin on the field as a shield, and she could very well be OTKed!
After thinking it over, she decided to Set the second Runick Flashing Fire in her hand as a response.
The reason she did not activate the Field Spell was that she did not believe Youye could OTK her when all cards were being banished, with a Special Summon destroy effect and a defensive monster blocking him!
"My turn ends—wait, Scareclaw Kashtira? Why does this card have two archetypes?"
As Munin was about to declare the end of her turn, she curiously clicked on Youye's banished card and was instantly stunned. Normally, cards only belonged to one archetype. How could one card belong to two?
Upon hearing that, Sheng Ning looked at the card through Munin's device and was equally confused. Then she looked at Youye with even greater caution. He was simply a monster—you never knew what he would pull out in his next duel!
"Secret." Youye smiled faintly and did not explain.
Whether in this duel or future ones, he did not intend to reveal all the effects of the Visas cards before he got Healthy Tearlaments.
Scareclaw did not matter much, but if someone got hold of Kashtira, it could threaten his Healthy Tearlaments. He was confident, but not arrogant. He would not create unnecessary trouble for himself.
Of course, it would be a different story if he got the complete Ishizu Tearlaments.
"Fine. Your turn!"
Munin nodded and did not ask further, intending to observe Youye's cards during the duel.
Youye's turn. He drew a card. Since Munin had no response, it entered Youye's Main Phase 1.
"I activate the Field Spell, Visas Amritara—Heavenly Demonic World. Its activation effect lets me add 1 Kashtira card to my hand. I choose to add Tearlaments Kashtira to my hand."
"Also, a reminder: the ATK and DEF of monsters on my field increase by 100 for each Attribute among monsters on the field. This is a Continuous Effect!"
"Another dual-archetype card!?"
After Youye completed his search, Munin's expression grew increasingly solemn. The moment Youye activated his Field Spell, she felt a threat for the first time in her life—a fatal threat. Every cell in her body was telling her to stay away immediately if he was not an ally!
Dangerous! Extremely dangerous!
Unlike Munin, Sheng Ning curiously looked at the card in Youye's hand. She knew Tearlaments was Youye's archetype. This card from the fusion archetype was actually connected to his own archetype?
"This should be your first time seeing a Kashtira human and spirit. I'll give you a bonus and let you see one card's effect!"
"Come out, Kashtira Unicorn!"
Kashtira Unicorn Psychic Type/Effect/Wind/Level 7 ATK: 2500; DEF: 2100
As Youye spoke, a monster holding a red spear, with two horns on its head, spikes on its back, and a red-and-black body appeared!
Despite being separated by their devices, Sheng Ning and Munin felt as though they were facing an ancient beast. Their faces began to pale, and cold sweat emerged on their hands and faces.
When they opened Unicorn's card information, they were too shocked to say a word.
First, its effect let it Special Summon itself without any timing requirement. If there were no monsters on the field, it could come out. Combined with its 2500 ATK, it was simply a Cyber Dragon Plus version!
Its second effect searched an archetype Spell, with a once-per-turn restriction by card name. An archetype search effect—it was strong, but completely acceptable.
But when they saw its third effect, they went numb. Once per turn by card name, after the opponent activated a monster effect or when it declared an attack, it could inspect the opponent's Extra Deck and Banish face-down one card from it!
This was Banish face-down. Sheng Ning could not think of any way to recover it, while Munin could only think of one or two possible methods!
"Are you serious? The Dueling Rules allow a card like this to exist? Three effects, each more absurd than the last, without any self-restrictions. It practically leaves no way for other duelists to survive!"
After a long while, Munin's expression was grim.
