Background / History
Tearlaments is Youye’s original archetype and the central target of his early card-collection efforts. He expects that the Dueling Rules have deliberately limited its availability, particularly because a complete Ishizu Tearlaments build would be overwhelmingly powerful. 5 20
During Yellow-rank certification, Youye encounters Tearlaments Kitkallos, the archetype’s Spirit and “strongest intermediary.” Kitkallos regrets that Youye has been unable to access the archetype’s full card pool, but Youye accepts the restrictions and declares his intention to collect the complete Ishizu Tearlaments build. 20
After Youye demonstrates an Ishizu-based mill strategy in the certification Puzzle Duel, the Dueling Rules end the duel early and award four major Tearlaments cards. Kitkallos views the result as proof that Tearlaments can grow far beyond the limits she initially understood. 21
The archetype remains incomplete through Youye’s clash with Bill Mu, where he calls the build “Wheelchair Tearlaments.” Even in that state, its Graveyard effects, Fusion lines, and self-arranged Chains make it dangerous enough to alarm experienced opponents. 60 61
As Youye gains more cards and forms hybrid builds with Lightsworn, Kashtira, Spright, Shaddoll, and Ishizu-related cards, Tearlaments becomes increasingly capable of extending during either player’s turn. By the time he reveals the Full Tearlaments Deck, it is a major force recognized by King Level Duelists. 69 97 157

Abilities & Skills
Milling and Graveyard Effects
Tearlaments monsters activate when sent to the Graveyard by effects, allowing mills to become immediate extension, searching, and Fusion opportunities.
- Tearlaments Merrli can reveal a Fusion Monster, return materials from the Deck, and Fusion Summon when milled. 61
- Haval, the Desian Skyblaster can search a Tearlaments Trap when sent to the Graveyard by an effect. 61
- Multiple milled cards can be arranged into a self-Chain, making individual effects harder to negate cleanly. 61
- The archetype can continue building boards during an opponent’s turn because its effects trigger when their conditions are met rather than requiring conventional activation. 97
Graveyard Fusion
Tearlaments can Fusion Summon without relying on a dedicated Fusion Spell, using monsters in the Graveyard, hand, and field as materials.
- Tearlaments Kitkallos can be Fusion Summoned from Merrli and Havnis after both are made available through milling. 61
- Tearlaments Kaleido-Heart can be Fusion Summoned through chained Tearlaments effects and can return an opponent’s card to the Deck or Extra Deck upon being summoned. 97 113
- Tearlaments Rulkallos can be Fusion Summoned through Tearlaments effects using Kitkallos and Sera. 179
- The archetype can perform repeated Fusion Summons within the same Chain, creating boards after apparent interruptions. 97 179
Board Control and Interaction
Tearlaments combines its Fusion engine with searchable support and reactive effects.
- Primeval Planet Perlereino searches a Tearlaments monster when activated and raises the ATK of Tearlaments monsters. 61 95
- Tearlaments Scream can return a banished Tearlaments monster to hand or return Kitkallos to the Extra Deck. 97 113
- Tearlaments Heartbeat can target and return an opposing Spell/Trap, including Macro Cosmos, to the Deck. 183
- Tearlaments Cryme is a searchable Counter Trap through Haval’s Graveyard effect. 61
Hybrid Deck Builds
Youye repeatedly adapts Tearlaments by combining it with other engines that enhance milling, disruption, or board-building.
- Ishizu Tearlaments — Described by Youye as the archetype’s strongest form; Herald of Orange Light and Kelbek enable powerful mill lines. 18 21
- Lightsworn Tearlaments — Proposed by Minerva because both archetypes benefit from milling; Tearlaments serves as the core. 69
- Tearlaments Kashtira — Uses Tearlaments Kashtira as an extender that Special Summons itself and mills cards. 61 97
- Shaddoll Tearlaments — Can access El Shaddoll Midrash as a powerful lockdown option. 112 123
- Spright Tearlaments — Uses Spright cards to extend boards and support Tearlaments’ reactive lines. 106 164
