Organization

The Duel Association is a world-class organization not restricted by national borders. Its card resources and influence surpass those of individual family factions; even a family with a Heaven-tier Duelist is expected to avoid direct conflict with it. 31 53

Functions

Certification and promotion

The Association provides the setting and personnel for Dueling Rules certification. Once certified, a Duelist receives a Level, while later promotions are tied to tasks and conditions determined by the Rules according to the Duelist's goals, identity, or faction. 19

• Certification is optional, but uncertified Duelists cannot access the status, physical changes, or certain tournaments available to higher-level Duelists. 19
• The Association's facilities can serve as gateways for Rule-based certification and promotion tasks. 19 20
• Youye's Yellow-level promotion requirements included reaching Platinum rank in Master Duel, completing the Herald of Purple Light Archetype, and winning the City Tournament. 32
• His final King's Path task required him to duel three designated King-level Duelists using different Deck Builds while under Earth-level Bonds. 216

Card resources and Deck Build support

The Association possesses extensive Card Pool resources and uses them to recruit, support, and negotiate with Duelists. 32 72

• Its Hangcheng branch offered Youye access to its card list, from which he selected cards including Dark Magician, Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Red-Eyes Fusion, Ceasefire, Card of Demise, The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode, Coral Dragon, and Stardust Charge Warrior. 32
• It offered Youye a Card Pool, connections, and Spirits to help him collect cards in exchange for joining. 72
• The Association later proposed that it and the Inspector Bureau help obtain cards from the Eastern Region's family heads after Youye declined membership. 72
• Its members develop unconventional multi-Archetype Deck Builds; Adolf Longfei's Rank 7 Goodstuff Deck combined Dragon Rulers and Armed Dragon with several other engines. 166

Tournament administration

The Association is involved in city-level and world-level competitive dueling.

• Wang Cheng offered Youye a direct place in the Hangcheng City Tournament's Top 32, which Youye declined. 32
• City Tournament duels use sealed Dueling Rooms, are decided in a single game, and permit only cards recognized by the Dueling Rules. 53
• During the World Tournament, the Association could not insert members into the Top 16 after the field had been established. 173

Enforcement

Alongside the Inspector Bureau, the Association can act against major threats and factions through duels. 63 95

• The Association and Inspector Bureau sided with Youye against the Zeng Family, alarming other Hangcheng family heads. 63
• Li Yuan led ten King’s Path Duelists and one hundred Heaven-tier Duelists from the Association against the Nangong Family. 137
• Following Youye's victory over Nangong Ping, the Nangong Family surrendered to the Duel Association. 138
• The Association sought Youye's aid when lower-level Duelists using his Deck Builds became dangerously unstable; its Earth-level personnel had been defeated by a berserk Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast user. 95

History

Youye first visited the Hangcheng Duel Association to receive formal certification from the Dueling Rules after obtaining a viable Deck. Staff initially mistook him for an established Earth-level Duelist because Munin accompanied him. 19 He completed the certification through a Puzzle Duel, and the Rules marked him as a Yellow-level Duelist. 20 21

As Youye's knowledge and results became widely known, the Association sought to recruit him. It offered access to cards, connections, and Spirit-assisted card collection, but Youye consistently declined to become a member. 31 63 72 Rather than severing ties, the Association continued negotiating with him for Deck Build guidance, card access, and help with exceptional threats. 64 72 95

The Association increasingly aligned itself with Youye in conflicts with prominent families. It chose him over the Zeng Family, later fielded a major force against the Nangong Family, and accepted that family's surrender after Youye's victory. 63 137 138 By the time of Youye's final King's Path task, he was received at the Association's world headquarters. 216
