Yang Jian was born at Guanjiang Mouth to Yaoji, an immortal maiden of the Heavenly Court, and Yang Tianyou, a mortal scholar. He grew up alongside his elder brother Yang Jiao and younger sister Yang Chan until the Heavenly Court seized Yaoji. Left alone and powerless, he resolved to cultivate, rescue his mother, and oppose the force that had destroyed his family 590 604.

Jade Cauldron True Person originally descended under Primordial Heavenly Lord's orders to accept Yang Jian as a disciple. Niu Ben intervened, claimed Yang Jian as his own disciple, and took him to the Ox Clan's Innate Blessed Land.
