History
Uchiha Clan Extermination and the World-Ending Star
On the night of the Uchiha clan extermination, Uchiha Yuan activated his Mangekyō Sharingan and redirected an asteroid toward the Shinobi World. The Land of Fire and Konoha were projected to suffer the initial impact, with the village reduced to dust in the vision witnessed by Obito 3.
Konoha learned of the threat through Hyuga Hiashi's intelligence network and later held a leadership meeting to address Yuan's actions and the approaching celestial body 9 17. Hiruzen Sarutobi initially intended to warn the other villages immediately, but Danzō persuaded him to convene a Five Kage Summit first, seeking to preserve Konoha's advantage after the disaster 16.
The village also seized the Uchiha clan's remaining assets following the massacre. Yuan's body and Mangekyō Sharingan were reported missing; Danzō claimed that the body had self-destructed 13 17.
Danzō's Crisis
Yuan's withered wood fused with Danzō's rampaging Wood Release cells beneath Konoha, tainting the Sharingan implanted in Danzō's arm 6. The resulting Withered Wood later spread through the village, attacking Konoha ninja and sealing off areas around the Hokage office 46 47.
Danzō ultimately withdrew from Konoha with Root personnel after the confrontation, declaring that he would return as Hokage 47. His subsequent seizure of power in Kirigakure further intensified Konoha's conflict with the other great villages 71 114.
Tobirama's Emergency Rule
Orochimaru revived Senju Tobirama through the Impure World Reincarnation Jutsu during the planetary crisis 41 42. Tobirama assumed an active leadership role in Konoha, ordering wartime readiness and pursuing countermeasures against Yuan's ocular power 44 62.
Under Tobirama's command, Konoha forcibly seized the Daimyo Palace, administrative agencies, and strategic resources across the Land of Fire. Medicine, grain, weapons, and other supplies were centralized for village-controlled distribution 54.
Destruction and Later Operations
Konoha was later devastated during a reckoning involving the Guy–Hiruzen fusion monster, which Nagato sealed with Chibaku Tensei above the village 193. After the purge, believers under Otsutsuki Gen's influence occupied the village and gained access to a form of Withered Wood Style 196.
Despite its ruin, Konoha continued functioning as a military and political power. Kakashi commanded from a provisional post in the ruins, while the village later prepared for war against Madara and Obito 216 226. By the final days before the planet's descent, Konoha was one of three powers dividing the Shinobi World alongside Sunagakure and Kirigakure 232.

| Shimura Danzō | Root leader | Sought Konoha's dominance after the disaster and later attempted to seize authority through force 17 47 |
| Senju Tobirama | Revived Second Hokage; emergency leader | Directed wartime mobilization, resource seizures, and investigations into Yuan's power 54 62 |
| Shinnosuke Sarutobi | Hokage | Had become Hokage by the time of his death 129 |
| Hatake Kakashi | Hokage | Led Konoha's Anbu during preparations against Madara and Obito; later identified as the Fifth Hokage, though another account places him in the Sixth Hokage's office 226 242 |
Disaster Preparations
- Konoha recalled many jonin, reassigned Earth Style users to construct underground defenses, and adjusted missions after the catastrophe became known 16.
- The village transferred substantial supplies to prepare for survival after the planet's impact 16.
- Early preparations prioritized Konoha itself and the Daimyo Palace, leaving much of the Land of Fire with inadequate shelters, food reserves, and medical supplies 37.
- Tobirama established a Land of Fire-wide teleportation network using Flying Thunder God scroll arrays and reverse-summoning principles, improving Konoha's logistical speed 61.
- The village later deployed a war machine and fifteen chakra towers in the Land of Rain, creating a vast dark magnetic field connected to the Land of Fire 241.
- A Chakra Tower associated with Konoha eventually expanded across roughly forty percent of the Shinobi World 242.
