Background

Kakashi attended the Ninja Academy alongside Uchiha Yuan. Though he retained little direct memory of Yuan, reading Yuan's childhood essay about becoming Hokage and bringing peace caused his transplanted Sharingan to react painfully. The essay also revived Kakashi's own abandoned ambition of becoming Hokage. 15

His left Sharingan, entrusted to him by Obito Uchiha during the Third Shinobi World War, had previously remained open and constantly drained his chakra. After his encounter with Yuan's essay, Kakashi discovered that he could close it at will, ending the continuous chakra loss and bringing an unusual clarity to his thinking. 15 16

With his mind no longer exhausted by the eye, Kakashi began to question Konoha's leadership, including Hiruzen Sarutobi's handling of the Uchiha clan and Danzō's acquisition of Sharingan. Personality
