Power Progression
The progression below follows the Sasuke raised in Gen'ichi’s altered timeline. The adult time traveler comes from a different history and already possesses his advanced abilities when introduced 384 390.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Improved Fireball Jutsu | 232 | At four years old, increases his flame from approximately fist-sized to head-sized through regular training. Gen'ichi also secretly administers Naruto Cells. |
| Lightning Godzilla Technique: first stage | 357 | At eleven, successfully releases nature-transformed Lightning Release in a single burst. Condensing it into a Godzilla remains unfinished. |
| Lightning Godzilla Technique: successful casting | 363 | Pushes his physical and mental strength to their limits and forms a Godzilla-shaped lightning construct. His chakra reserves already exceed those of a jōnin, though learning the S-rank forbidden technique does not yet mean full proficiency. |
| Sub-Body Godzilla summoning | 367 | Earns the creature’s recognition through his own efforts after Gen'ichi guides him toward it. Uses it against Orochimaru. |
| Three-Tomoe Sharingan and further genjutsu training | 369 | Has a functioning Three-Tomoe Sharingan, but Orochimaru immediately breaks his illusion. Begins studying genjutsu under Itachi to address this weakness. |
| Genin; Team 7 assignment | 380 | Joins Naruto and Hinata under Kakashi. Kakashi considers the three capable of potentially defeating Kage-level enemies through cooperation. |
| Mangekyō Sharingan; two Tailed Beast-level summons | 423 424 | Both advantages are documented during his attempt to stop Naruto’s defection. The supplied account does not show the Mangekyō’s awakening itself. |
| Sage Mode and Sage Art: Nuclear Release: Lightning Godzilla | 487 | Uses Sage Mode, Susanoo, and a sage-enhanced forbidden technique to defeat Setsuna before taking his eyes. |
| Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan | 491 493 | Fuses his eyes with Setsuna’s matching eyes. His six-pointed-star pattern gains thicker, more solid lines, and his ocular techniques become stronger. Reveals the new eyes to his clan after fighting Naruto to a stalemate. |
| Susanoo Complete Form | 491 | Demonstrates the final Susanoo form, with Karasu Tengu Heavy Armor, during his rematch with Naruto. |
| Six Paths Sasuke | 524 | Receives all of Hagoromo’s remaining Six Paths power, including both Yin and Yang. Gains “Sage Eyes + incomplete Sage Body” and Truth-Seeking Orbs, then protects others from Ten-Tails attacks. |
| Rinnegan and Amenotejikara | 525 | Demonstrates the Rinnegan’s position-swapping technique against Isshiki while deploying a black, Six Paths-enhanced Lightning Godzilla. Overpowers Madara and Nagato even when they fight together. |
Background / History
Sasuke is born as the second son of Uchiha Clan Head Fugaku. Itachi hopes that Gen'ichi will teach his younger brother, and Gen'ichi agrees to accept Sasuke when he turns three. Fugaku recognizes Sasuke’s potential but expects Itachi to remain the more naturally gifted brother. Separately, Gen'ichi uses Sasuke’s genes to create a second Minilla with the Sharingan, naming it White 140.
By age four, Sasuke is training regularly with Gen'ichi, admiring Itachi, and trying to surpass Naruto. Unknown to him, his teacher repeatedly injects him with Naruto Cells while also experimenting with the exchange of Naruto’s and Sasuke’s cells. Gen'ichi expects Sasuke’s eventual strength to depend on inherited chakra and artificial enhancement rather than simply reproducing Itachi’s path 232.
Gen'ichi later explains to Itachi that Sasuke carries Indra’s chakra without being possessed by Indra’s soul, which remains in the Pure Land. He acknowledges that inherited chakra may influence Sasuke’s personality but considers it essential to his higher potential. During the war, Hagoromo identifies Sasuke as Indra’s reincarnation and attributes changes in both boys’ personalities to Gen'ichi’s interference 380 524.
Appearance
- Mangekyō pattern: A six-pointed star. After fusion with Setsuna’s eyes, the pattern retains its shape but develops thicker, more solid lines 491.
- Susanoo: Purple, with skeletal defenses, a humanoid giant form, and ultimately Karasu Tengu Heavy Armor 491.
- Adult counterpart: In his thirties, with one arm and a Rinnegan in one eye; his other eye bears an Eternal Mangekyō pattern combining two designs 390 391 491.
Personality
Sasuke is diligent, competitive, and impatient with his own progress. He measures himself against both Itachi and Gen'ichi, then denies that Naruto motivates him even while training harder to catch up. He also studies theoretical material intensely, hoping to gain an advantage over Naruto in examinations 232 357 369.
Praise from the Uchiha reinforces his arrogance. As a child, he boasts about his lineage and his position as Gen'ichi’s disciple; later, defeating Orochimaru makes him believe he has become the strongest of his generation. Nevertheless, he can recognize weaknesses: after Orochimaru breaks his genjutsu, he seeks additional instruction rather than ignoring the failure 233 369.
His loyalty to Naruto persists beyond their rivalry. Naruto’s defection leaves him shocked and angry, but his response is to pursue and retrieve him. He subsequently trains to exhaustion and challenges overwhelmingly stronger opponents in an effort to save Naruto’s life. His pursuit of power does not entirely erase his moral hesitation: he is horrified by the idea of harvesting a clansman’s eyes and struggles before taking Setsuna’s 418 462 486 487 523.
The adult counterpart is more restrained in conversation, repeatedly trying to de-escalate his encounter with the altered Naruto. In combat, however, he can be ruthless and indifferent to collateral damage, as shown during his fight with Urashiki 388 395.
Abilities & Skills
Sharingan and Genjutsu
- Uses the Three-Tomoe Sharingan to track attacks and support close-range fighting 375.
- Studies genjutsu under Itachi after identifying it as a possible way to counter Naruto 369.
- Initially lacks the ocular power and skill to hold Orochimaru in an illusion 369.
- His Eternal Mangekyō can perceive and predict Naruto’s movements in Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, but perception alone does not guarantee that his body can react quickly enough 491.
- Genjutsu is not an automatic answer to Naruto: cooperation between Naruto and the Nine-Tails can break even Mangekyō-level illusions unless a special ocular technique is involved 415.
Amaterasu and Kagutsuchi
- Uses Amaterasu to ignite Naruto’s chakra constructs and his own Susanoo’s weapon 491.
- Combines Kagutsuchi with Amaterasu and Susanoo to form a black-flame Indra’s Arrow 491.
- The adult counterpart extinguishes Setsuna’s Amaterasu rather than absorbing it and burns Obito’s Thousand-Hand Buddha with the same paired techniques 390 403.
- Naruto counters Amaterasu by shedding burning chakra, limiting its effectiveness against an opponent with enormous reserves 424.
Susanoo and Indra’s Arrow
- Creates a thin skeletal barrier for immediate defense and larger forms for armed combat 491.
- Wields a samurai sword and a bow capable of firing Indra’s Arrow 491.
- His black-flame arrow is fast enough that Naruto resorts to a Nine-Tails-enhanced Wood Release barrier rather than fully dodging it 491.
- Susanoo is not absolute protection: Mito restrains it with Adamantine Sealing Chains, while Ichie’s Three Divine Tools sever its weapons 505 522.
- The adult counterpart combines Susanoo Armor with Naruto’s Kurama Mode against Momoshiki and uses Susanoo with Indra’s Arrow against Urashiki 384 395.
Lightning Godzilla Technique
- An S-rank forbidden technique taught by Gen'ichi that condenses violent Lightning Release into a Godzilla-shaped construct 363.
- Requires demanding chakra control; Sasuke’s first successful casting follows repeated attempts and extreme exertion 357 363.
- Later becomes Sage Art: Nuclear Release: Lightning Godzilla, which he uses against Setsuna 487.
- With Six Paths Yin power, produces an enormous black Lightning Godzilla and combines its attack with Amenotejikara 525.
Sage Mode
- Enhances perception and taijutsu, allowing Sasuke to compensate for the gap between seeing Naruto’s attacks and physically responding 491.
- Enables invisible, natural-energy-based close-range strikes, demonstrated against Setsuna 487 491.
- His available Sage Chakra is far below the quantity associated with Naruto’s Complete Nine-Tails Form; it serves as a supplement to his Eternal Mangekyō rather than his main source of strength 491.
- Sage Shima offers Mount Myōboku’s training, but Sasuke initially insists on consulting Gen'ichi. The supplied account does not document the intervening training before his later use of Sage Mode 462 487.
Godzilla Summoning
- Gains access to Sub-Body Godzilla after earning its recognition 367.
- During Naruto’s defection, commands two summoned beasts described as possessing Tailed Beast-level strength 423.
- Treats the summons as decisive advantages, sometimes allowing that confidence to become arrogance 369 424.
Rinnegan and Six Paths Power
- Receives both Yin and Yang Six Paths power from Hagoromo, unlike the split distribution described for the other history 524.
- Uses Truth-Seeking Orbs and protects multiple combatants from Ten-Tails Tailed Beast Bombs 524.
- Uses Amenotejikara to exchange positions with Isshiki 525.
- Becomes strong enough to dominate Madara and Nagato together, though Isshiki remains a formidable obstacle 525 527.
- The adult counterpart already has a Rinnegan, but cannot use Amenotejikara as frequently as Gen'ichi uses Urashiki’s time-based ocular power 429.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Chakra Sword / Chakra Weapon — Used while training the Lightning Godzilla Technique 357.
- Setsuna’s eyes — Taken after defeating him and subsequently fused with Sasuke’s own eyes to obtain the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan 487 491.
- Susanoo weapons — Ocular constructs including a samurai sword, bow, and Indra’s Arrow, rather than ordinary carried equipment 491.
- Time Treasure / Plow — The turtle-shaped Ōtsutsuki artifact used by the adult counterpart and Boruto to cross time; Gen'ichi later provides it for their return 384 414.
Relationships
- Gen'ichi Shiranui / Genitsu — Teacher, protector, and covert experimenter. Threatens to destroy Otogakure if Orochimaru touches Sasuke. Their loyalty becomes strained when Sasuke challenges his actions to save Naruto 232 522 523.
- Itachi Uchiha — Older brother and early role model. Watches over dangerous training, teaches him genjutsu, and investigates the possible influence of Indra’s chakra 363 369 380.
- Fugaku Uchiha — Father and clan head. Supports Sasuke’s training and attempts to manage his hostility toward Setsuna 369 452.
- Naruto Uzumaki — Rival and Team 7 teammate. Their competition develops into repeated high-level battles, but Sasuke remains determined to retrieve and ultimately save him 380 418 491 523.
- Hinata Hyuga — Academy opponent and Team 7 teammate. Her thoughts of defection prompt Sasuke to question clan oppression and the Uchiha’s own behavior 334 375 380.
- Kakashi Hatake — Team 7 leader. Recognizes the team’s unusual strength and moves directly into missions instead of administering a conventional bell test 380.
- Ichie Uchiha — Senior clan member. Warns him about the cost of obtaining Eternal Mangekyō eyes, later opposes his attempt to interfere with Gen'ichi 474 522.
- Setsuna Uchiha — Hostile clan elder carrying copied Indra chakra. Their instinctive rejection escalates into an attempt to steal Sasuke’s eyes; Sasuke defeats him and takes his eyes instead 452 484 487.
- Sage Shima — Offers Sage Jutsu training partly to gain an ally against Naruto after Mount Myōboku’s destruction 462.
- Boruto Uzumaki — Student of the adult counterpart. Accompanies him through Urashiki’s time gate despite instructions to remain behind 384.
- Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki — Grants Sasuke his remaining Six Paths power and charges him with opposing Gen'ichi, Isshiki, and Kaguya 524.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Academy Rivalry and Team 7
Sasuke and Naruto dominate the Academy’s practical lessons, making their competition a spectacle for other students. Sasuke’s frustration helps drive his mastery of Lightning Godzilla. After defeating Orochimaru with his new advantages, he turns toward genjutsu training to close another gap in his abilities 363 369.
He is pleased to join Naruto and Hinata in Team 7 despite publicly insulting Naruto. Under Kakashi, the team rapidly completes D- and C-rank assignments before receiving a B-rank mission to inspect Minato’s old sealing formula in Roran 380.
The Adult Time Traveler
An adult Sasuke from a history without Gen'ichi follows Urashiki through a time gate, accompanied by Boruto. He discovers a flourishing Uchiha Clan instead of the destroyed clan he remembers and reunites with a sixteen-year-old Itachi 384 389 390.
Their conversation establishes that the histories diverged around the Third Great Ninja War. Sasuke explains the deaths of Minato and Kushina, Shisui’s suicide, the Uchiha massacre, and Orochimaru’s attack on Konoha. He concludes that guidance from someone like Gen'ichi would likely have prevented his younger self from defecting 390.
The adult counterpart fights Urashiki alongside Gen'ichi, exposes Obito’s identity, and battles the Akatsuki. Nagato mistakes his Rinnegan for proof that he is the Eye Organization’s leader; this is a misidentification, not Sasuke’s actual position 395 403 404.
After obtaining the means to return, he fights Momoshiki and Kinshiki with Naruto and Gen'ichi. Before departing, Gen'ichi briefs him on Isshiki’s abilities, leaving him concerned about the threat awaiting his own world 414 428 429 432.
Naruto’s Defection
Sasuke refuses to remain behind when Naruto leaves Konoha, despite Itachi’s concern about his emotional state. Their Valley of the End battle escalates to Mangekyō techniques and Tailed Beast-level summons, but Sasuke fails to stop him. The adult counterpart’s intervention prevents the encounter from becoming fatal 418 420 423 424 491.
Konoha subsequently praises Sasuke’s loyalty, increasing the Uchiha Clan’s prestige. Sasuke himself responds by training harder, seeking Sage Jutsu and stronger eyes rather than accepting Naruto’s departure 425 462 474.
Setsuna’s Eyes and the Rematch
Setsuna targets Sasuke’s eyes as a route to Eternal Mangekyō and possibly the Rinnegan. Sasuke defeats him with Sage Mode and Lightning Godzilla, then overcomes his reluctance to take the elder’s eyes 484 486 487.
With the resulting Eternal Mangekyō, Sasuke challenges Naruto again. Their battle ends in a stalemate, after which Sasuke returns to Konoha and reveals his new eyes to the clan 491 493.
Fourth Great Ninja War
Sasuke becomes one of Konoha’s core combatants and fights the reanimated Mito Uzumaki. His confidence in Susanoo is challenged by her sealing chains and Dead Demon Consuming Seal 500 504 505.
When Naruto is critically endangered, Sasuke confronts Gen'ichi’s side and offers to kill Isshiki in exchange for his teacher healing Naruto. Isshiki instead critically injures him. In the Mental World, Hagoromo grants Sasuke his remaining power, enabling him to return as a Six Paths-level fighter 520 522 523 524.
Sasuke then attempts to seize Isshiki’s Divine Tree to become a Ten-Tails jinchūriki and gain enough strength to save the world. This is an attempted objective, not a documented transformation. He later fights Kaguya alongside Isshiki, but her control of the lava dimension steadily wears them down 527 532.
Ōtsutsuki Homeworld Campaign
Sasuke is present beside Itachi on the Flesh and Blood Star during the assault on the Ōtsutsuki homeworld. He supports eliminating the clan as a common enemy and hopes their destruction will bring Gen'ichi’s wars to an end, while Itachi remains doubtful 545.
