Background / History

Evil Demons are regarded as the true calamity threatening the Sacred Lands. They can invade a person whenever that person’s mind wavers, and their infiltration extends even into an institution’s upper ranks. Cultivators initially mistook them for inner demons, but their nature becomes far more dangerous at Spirit Transformation and higher realms. 4

They work through disguise, emotional manipulation, and infiltration. At Lingxu Sacred Land, Zhang Linyuan concealed himself as a peak Nascent Soul cultivator, delayed the elders, spread rumors, and inflamed Qing Changyu’s jealousy and resentment to provoke a conflict with Li Tianwei. 337 339

The demons’ influence culminated in an assault on Tianmen Peak. Hidden Evil Demons mingled among the disciples, while a disguised demon was exposed and annihilated by Li Tianwei’s Heavenly Absolute Yin Fiend. The dying demon identified “greater evil demons” as the ones who had ordered it to guide the disciples there. 340 341

Zhang Linyuan later became a vessel for an Evil Demon, receiving power from other Evil Demons and using a spell to restrain Lingxu Sacred Land’s peak masters and ancestors. 356 Li Tianwei’s Extreme Good Lead Hua Scripture affected Zhang and allowed him to trace the demons’ shared consciousness into a void world inhabited by countless interconnected Evil Demons. 359 360

Li Tianwei’s attempt to enlighten this network caused widespread disorder among the demons. Heavenly Void Demon recognized the intrusion and resisted, while other demons called for their “Lord” to awaken. 361 During the ensuing conflict, Li Tianwei and allied cultivators shattered scarlet pupils that had maintained a barrier blocking cultivators above Nascent Soul from advancing. The resisting Evil Demon then severed its connection to the Cultivation World and destroyed the passage behind it. 364
