Background / History

Earlier epochs

The Immortal Realm has endured repeated epochs, leaving behind ancient forces, established Immortals, Fallen Immortals, relics, and concealed factions. Fallen Immortals are former Immortals whose lifespans were exhausted; their power is difficult for ordinary Immortals to assess 292.

The Immortal Court ruled the strongest known epoch among tens of thousands of epochs. It once unified the Immortal Realm, connected it with outer and lower realms, and enabled Immortals to travel freely between them 294. Although the Immortal Court later lost to forces surviving across multiple epochs, it successfully sent several Immortals to Transcendence before its Lord disappeared 294.

Li Tianwei's arrival

After overcoming his Ascension Tribulation from the Spirit Transmutation Realm, Li Tianwei entered the Heavenly Gate and departed the Cultivation World 250 254. He later entered the Immortal Realm through Jin Xian City in the Futian Domain 259.

Li Tianwei immediately doubted that the place was the true Immortal Realm: its atmosphere and cultivators differed sharply from his expectation of a fairyland 260. His suspicions deepened after learning that Immortals reclaimed cultivators and their descendants as resources for their own advancement 260.

Realm-wide upheaval

Li Tianwei's spread of the Extreme Good Lead Hua Scripture divided the Immortal Realm into two opposing blocs: an alliance following the True Cultivation path and an alliance preserving traditional Immortal cultivation methods 291.

The awakening Immortal Court disrupted this conflict. Its return exposed hidden regions, revived Immortal Corpses and sleeping Immortals, and deployed Immortal Soldiers through Heavenly Gates across the realm 293 294. In response, the Five Great Immortal Clans and their allies formed the Heaven Holding Alliance to oppose it 294 295.

Li Tianwei's projected consciousness later changed the realm's laws and became entangled in a direct struggle with the Great Dao itself 292 303 304. After that conflict, authority over the Immortal Realm became unclaimed, drawing competing factions into an open and covert contest for control 306.

Regions and Environment

• Futian Domain — Contains Jin Xian City, where Li Tianwei first entered the Immortal Realm through an illicit lower-realm passage 259.
• Yingtian Domain — Former territory of the ancient Yinming Sect, which was attacked by five major powers operating through an Immortal Court Heavenly Gate 318.
• Undeveloped dark regions — Previously shrouded portions of the realm; the Immortal Court's radiance dispelled this darkness upon its return 294.
• Immortal Qi — Increased severalfold after the Immortal Court and other epochal forces re-emerged, making Dao comprehension noticeably easier 294.
• Subordinate worlds — Immortal Qi eventually began breeding in worlds beneath the Immortal Realm, while Immortals and True Cultivation methods spread into those lower realms 329.

Society and Cultivation

Immortal power structure

• Immortal Clans hold greater power than Immortal Sects; the Five Great Immortal Clans are the strongest clan powers in the realm 294.
• Lower-realm ascenders compete with native Immortals for resources, preventing native powers from exercising completely unrestricted control 260.
• Mortals were historically expendable to many Immortals and could be killed incidentally by Immortal conflicts or Immortal Qi disturbances 318.
• The True Cultivation Alliance establishes strongholds, gathers mortals, and spreads a cultivation path that even children and the elderly can begin to practice 318.
