Background and Research

Dr. Brief is Bulma's father. He welcomes her friend Uchiha Hikari into the family home and later examines Hikari for an inherited Uchiha Bloodline Disease. His initial tests cannot identify its cause, but he continues the research using blood and tissue samples 3 20 28.

Hikari subsequently brings him samples from other Uchiha clan members and explains the Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan. Brief values the chance to investigate an unfamiliar bloodline; in return for his help, he asks Hikari to protect the adventure-loving Bulma 44.
