Asano Kiyoshi and Nel’s peaceful life was shattered when Aizen’s pseudo-Arrancar and the Tsunayashiro Clan’s assassins attacked Halibel’s settlement. After Nel transformed to save Kiyoshi, they escaped the Black Cloaks together and arrived at the Urahara Shop in the Living World.

• Asano Kiyoshi built a protected home near Halibel’s settlement, and he and Nel grew close to Halibel and her companions over the following month.
• Tiger and Bear returned as pseudo-Arrancar to attack Halibel, while Asano Kiyoshi’s group rushed to help and ran into Tsunayashiro Clan assassins on the way.
• Asano Kiyoshi fought through the assassins and continued toward Halibel, but Nnoitra ambushed him and Nel, forcing Nel to reveal her form as Neliel Tu.
• Neliel fought Nnoitra and nearly defeated him before Szayelaporro’s poison interrupted the battle, while Pesche and Dondochakka fought the Black Mask Gang elsewhere.
• Asano Kiyoshi healed himself with Rewind and sent Halibel and Ulquiorra to aid the others, but Black Cloaks attacked him and Nel as they traveled to rejoin the group.
• Nel took the Black Cloaks’ Kido attacks meant for Asano Kiyoshi, and he used Reverse Binding Kido Number 91, Lovers' Road Sixteen Nights, to link their lives and escape with the King's Seal.
• Aizen misdirected the Black Cloaks’ search as Asano Kiyoshi and Nel reached the Living World, where Kisuke Urahara brought them to the Urahara Shop.
• Asano Kiyoshi woke and asked after Nel, then objected when Kisuke Urahara charged him 50,000 Kan for their treatment.

Asano Kiyoshi settled into work at Urahara Shop, strengthened his Kido through a fierce match with Hachigen Ushōda, and met the Visoreds after Aizen exposed his location. The Visoreds agreed to help him control his Hollow power, and the arc ended with Asano unleashing a lightning Kirin at Ushōda’s reinforced barrier.

• Asano Kiyoshi met Nel at Urahara Shop, where they worked off their debt and grew closer as they helped with the cooking.
• Asano told Urahara, Yoruichi, and Hachigen Ushōda about his conflict with the Tsunayashiro Family and showed them a wooden token from Head Captain Yamamoto.
• Hachigen recognized Asano’s exceptional talent for Kido, and Asano agreed to help revive the art while Yoruichi offered to teach him Shunpo.
• Asano and Hachigen fought in the underground training room, where Asano’s double chanting and Reverse Destructive Kido damaged the grounds before Hachigen defeated him with White Coffin.
• Aizen watched Asano and decided to alert the Tsunayashiro Clan, while Asano encountered Hirako Mako and Lisa Yadōmaru and accepted an invitation to meet the Visoreds.
• Asano explained that using Lovers' Road Sixteen Nights to save Nel had given him Hollow spiritual pressure, and the Visoreds pledged to help him control it.
• Asano demonstrated instant-cast Hado Number Eighty-Eight against Ushoda’s barrier, then post-chanted it and formed a lightning Kirin.
• Hirako sealed Asano and Ushoda inside the reinforced barrier, and Asano sent the Kirin charging toward it as lightning and thunder engulfed the space.

Asano Kiyoshi awakened his dormant Hollow power, learned more about his Inner World, and became entangled in questions about the Central 46 and the person following him. He trained with Yoruichi, discovered Nel was transforming through absorbing his spiritual pressure, and ended the stretch by casting Kurohitsugi.

• Ushoda examined Asano Kiyoshi after his Kirin and found no side effects, so Kiyoshi agreed with Hirako to awaken his dormant Hollow Reishi.
• Asano Kiyoshi entered his Inner World, met White Impermanence, and accompanied Lu Sheng to see his family before returning with him to the Underworld.
• White Impermanence showed Asano Kiyoshi the Book of Life and Death, which revealed that Lu Sheng’s wife and daughter would soon be killed.
• After waking, Asano Kiyoshi told the Visoreds about his encounter, and Hirako explained that Kiyoshi’s Black Reiatsu had produced mist and corrosive rain.
• Urahara warned Asano Kiyoshi that a Captain-level spiritual pressure had been following him, and the two discussed the Central 46, the King's Seal, and the possibility of change.
• Yoruichi trained Asano Kiyoshi in Shunpo, explained how Zanpakuto helped Shinigami wield their souls’ power, and urged him to discover his Reiatsu Attribute.
• Urahara explained that Nel’s Reishi was transforming as she absorbed Kiyoshi’s spiritual pressure, but that her injuries made the process painful and dangerous.
• Asano Kiyoshi selected Kurohitsugi as the Kido best suited to him and cast Hado No. 90 for Yoruichi and Urahara.

Asano Kiyoshi mastered a dangerous form of Shunko, defended Karakura Town from a coordinated Hollow invasion, and defeated the Oni Mask operatives sent after him. After returning to Soul Society with Nel, he faced the Captain-Commander as the nobles watched.

• Asano Kiyoshi absorbed the Reishi of an unfinished Kurohitsugi and developed Half-Completed Shunko, then sparred with Yoruichi to test his new power.
• Nel developed Shinigami Transformation, while Tsunayashiro Sosuke launched a covert operation against Asano Kiyoshi and his forces lured Hollows into Karakura Town.
• Asano Kiyoshi rescued Miyako Shiba’s students from the Hollow attack, then teamed up with Ishida Soken to fight the invading Adjuchas.
• Asano Kiyoshi defeated Takano Miwa, the Oni Mask, and captured the Deer-Masked Man with the Baku Sword as Urahara and the Visoreds responded to the invasion.
• Urahara explained how the Tsunayashiro Family had exploited noble privileges to send its private soldiers into the Living World, and Miyako Shiba offered the Shiba Clan’s support.
• Urahara altered the humans’ memories of the attack, and Asano Kiyoshi and Nel traveled through the Dangai back to Soul Society.
• Yamamoto welcomed Asano Kiyoshi’s return and froze when he saw Nel, while Asano took her hand and prepared to speak before him.
