Jiang Dao began as physically weak and pale, but chose to learn martial arts despite his late start. His father, Jiang Dalong, arranged for the Jiang family's guard captain Pang Lin to become his master, binding Pang Lin to the family through a formal master-disciple relationship 3.

Soon afterward, Jiang Dao discovered the Martial Arts Modification System. It allowed him to instantly acquire decades of cultivation and modify learned techniques beyond their ordinary limits.
