Background / History

Chu Rukuang was one of the most talented Spirit Eliminators and, alongside the Grand Lunar Monarch, was counted among the “Twin Prodigies of Heaven and Earth” during the Primordial Era. The two fought seven times without a decisive victor. 591 592

At the height of his mid-stage God-King cultivation, Chu received a mysterious letter accurately identifying flaws in his cultivation. Lured to Burial God Valley, he was ambushed by a grand formation, locked in a coffin, and buried for countless years by an unknown black-robed figure. This prevented him from participating in the ancient war. 583 592

His apparent imprisonment became the basis for mastering the Nine Transformations of the Celestial Silkworm. The technique repeatedly forces growth through adversity; his frail old-man appearance was ultimately an outer husk concealing a near-peak true body. 591 592

Appearance

Chu Rukuang initially appears as a thin, elderly man with messy hair, fluttering robes, and a golden war spear. Despite his frail build, he projects an overwhelming aura likened to a mountain suppressing the ages. 583

  • Old form — thin body, disheveled hair, aged appearance, and a vertical eye between his brows. 583
  • True form — black hair, a youthful and powerful frame, cold eyes, and armor formed from condensed energy. 591 592
  • Weapon — commonly manifests a golden Battle Saint Spear. 583 593

Personality

Chu Rukuang is decisive, direct, and fiercely uncompromising toward enemies of humanity. He particularly despises cowardice and betrayal, condemning General Feng Xiao for turning against the Night Watchers, Spirit Eliminators, and the human lineage. 590

He is also protective toward allies. He shields Jiang Dao and Saintess Yao Yao from dangerous curses and hostile powers, steadies Yao Yao when she loses herself in grief, and repeatedly places himself between the human realm and Upper Realm invaders. 588 589 668

His pride is rooted in his refusal to submit. When Grand Lunar Monarch offers him a place in the Upper Realm, Chu rejects it outright rather than abandon humanity. 591

Abilities & Skills

Divine Emperor Cultivation

Chu Rukuang possesses immense sacred power and was already far beyond the Divine King realm when he emerged.

  • Defeated and drove away the Sky-Devouring Demonic Rat, God-Kings, Evil Gods, Gods of Death, and Ferocious Oddities shortly after appearing. 583
  • Killed Tuoba Xing Tian after Jiang Dao’s Supreme Killing Weapon severely injured him. 585 586
  • Overpowered the Grand Lunar Monarch after revealing his true form, crushing half of his body and forcing his escape. 591 592
  • Recovered approximately seventy to eighty percent of his strength after being rescued from the Heavenly Dao Furnace. 633

Nine Transformations of the Celestial Silkworm

A transformation art refined during Chu Rukuang’s countless years of sealing.

  • Uses hardship and confinement to repeatedly break through personal limits. 592
  • Allows him to shed his aged body and reveal a younger, vastly stronger true form. 591
  • His old appearance was a deliberate disguise rather than evidence of permanent physical decline. 592

Battle Saint Spear

Chu Rukuang’s mastery of the Battle Saint Spear vastly exceeds Jiang Dao’s use of the same weapon.

  • Pierced the fleeing Sky-Devouring Demonic Rat and struck at both Upper Realm and Void Realm God-Kings. 583
  • Used to battle the Skyfiend Ghost King, repeatedly inflicting massive wounds despite its regeneration. 593 594
  • Threw the spear across immense distance in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent the Grand Lunar Monarch’s escape. 592

Yang Fire Sky-Bathing Diagram

A heaven-defying sacred art capable of producing divine suns and annihilating an enemy’s remaining essence.

  • Forced Tuoba Xing Tian back when he threatened the human world. 584
  • Manifested divine suns that ground Tuoba Xing Tian’s flesh, blood, and essence to nothing, preventing his revival. 585 586

Eight Arms Carry Heaven

A rune-based sealing technique.

  • Opened a passage through the Divine Court Ancestral Land’s altar seal, allowing Jiang Dao and Saintess Yao Yao to reach the altar. 588

Primordial Thunder Roar

A spiritual sonic technique.

  • Its mysterious sound can strike directly at an opponent’s sea of consciousness. 591
  • Grand Lunar Monarch had deciphered the technique after countless years, reducing its effectiveness against him. 591

Sacred Protection and Curse Resistance

Chu Rukuang can protect others from corruptive and supernatural forces.

  • Shielded Jiang Dao and Yao Yao from the cursed red hairs surrounding the Emperor Asura Physique coffin. 588 589
  • Personally touched the red hairs, forced the contamination from his hand, and concluded that even Divine Kings would struggle to survive exposure. 588
  • Shielded Jiang Dao and Yao Yao from the Skyfiend Ghost King’s malignant gaze. 593

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Battle Saint Spear — golden divine spear used in Chu Rukuang’s battles against God-Kings, the Skyfiend Ghost King, and Grand Lunar Monarch. 583 592 593
  • Violet-Gold Gourd — a multicolored gourd lent to Jiang Dao to collect cursed red hairs from the bronze coffin. 588 590

Relationships

  • Saintess Yao Yao — close ally and fellow survivor of the ancient conflict. Chu Rukuang guides her through grief, supports her revenge against Feng Xiao, and fights beside her against the Upper Realm. 583 589 590 668
  • Venerable Wu Dao — senior Spirit Eliminator whose knowledge helps Chu Rukuang understand the origins of their bloodline and the dangers of pseudo-soul sainthood. 643 679 680

  • Tuoba Xing Tian — enemy who sought to destroy the human world using the Emperor Kshatra Holy Bones; Chu ultimately annihilates him. 584 585 586
  • Heavenly Dao Palace Lord — major adversary whose forces repeatedly target Chu Rukuang and the human realm. 633 635 668
