Background / History

The Heavenly Dao Palace is described as the Upper Realm's most orthodox and terrifying power: whoever occupies it controls the Heavenly Dao. The Palace Lord was responsible for the ancient war against the Night Watchers, ordering their extermination, the sealing of humanity, and the replacement of cultivators' blood with ghost blood. These acts severed humanity's inheritance for tens of thousands of years. 414

He also used the Night Watchers and Spirit Eliminators to help suppress the great evils of the Void Realm. Their destruction, combined with the Heavenly Dao's periodic slumber after being severely wounded, weakened his ability to command those ancient beings. 587

In an earlier expedition into the Endless Boundary Sea, the Palace Lord used the Heavenly Dao's power to forcibly open a route toward mysterious palaces. The force emanating from those palaces crippled or killed numerous God-Emperors and directly injured the Heavenly Dao itself. 641

By the time news reached the Lower Realm, the Palace Lord had reportedly been ambushed and was suspected dead, leaving the Upper Realm in chaos. 414 He later reappeared after being grievously wounded by Venerable Wu Dao, having fused with a flawless Dao Fruit and taken on a markedly demonic form. 639 656 660

Appearance

The Palace Lord initially presents himself as an immense, hazy divine figure whose true face is obscured by mist. His visible eyes are ancient and profound, seemingly containing the sun, moon, stars, and secrets of creation. 633

His rule is rooted in control and manipulation. He mobilizes gods to destroy the Lower Realm, seeks to turn Saintess Yao Yao into his concubine or an eternal puppet, and punishes the World Divine Tree for enabling Jiang Dao and Yao Yao's escape. 605 635 661

Despite his overwhelming confidence, he becomes visibly desperate when defeated. After Jiang Dao overwhelms him, he attempts to bargain for his life and seeks opportunities to escape rather than face certain death. 639 670 674

The Palace Lord opens the Heavenly Dao Holy Gate after eight thousand years, declares its rules, and uses the Heavenly Dao Eye to inspect the gathered God-Kings and God-Emperors. 595 When a red-hair curse spreads within the gate, he personally enters to investigate, purifies the curse along his route, and arrives too late to prevent Jiang Dao and Saintess Yao Yao's escape into the Upper Realm. 605

Campaign Against the Lower Realm

After Jiang Dao's actions threaten his authority, the Palace Lord orders a mass descent into the Lower Realm. Gods and God-Kings are sent as the vanguard, while he and the gathered God-Emperors are expected to carry out the decisive battle. 635 He also tries to reclaim the Heavenly Dao Furnace, but Jiang Dao resists the recall with the Celestial Punishment Seal. 637

Battle with Venerable Wu Dao

The Palace Lord commands the God-Emperors to kill Venerable Wu Dao after Wu Dao emerges in a cursed, frenzied state. 637 638 Wu Dao transfers red-hair curse power into the Palace Lord, mutilates him, and forces him to flee; Jiang Dao seizes the Palace Lord's severed left hand and lower leg during the retreat. 639

Return and Pursuit of Jiang Dao

The Palace Lord returns after fusing with the flawless Dao Fruit, now bearing a demonic aura and a dangerous vertical eye. 656 660 He rescues Violet Lightning God-Emperor and other followers from Weeping Soul Island, then ambushes Jiang Dao, Saintess Yao Yao, and Void Venerable near Sky Profound City. 660 661

Jiang Dao's Ten Celestial Punishments overwhelms him in their first renewed duel, forcing the Palace Lord to retreat with his followers through black-light teleportation. 662

Final Defeat

At the Plains of Reincarnation, the Palace Lord joins the struggle surrounding Venerable Wu Dao and the rift coordinates. 666 He battles Jiang Dao again, employing the Cosmic Cycle Formation, curse power, and his transformed body, but fails to overcome Jiang Dao's advancing Emperor Asura Physique. 667 668

When Jiang Dao is weakened by backlash from the Supreme Killing Weapon, the Palace Lord attempts a final ambush. Jiang Dao withstands the attack, closes in, and kills him with repeated punches before he can split his soul and escape. 674
