Background

During the Third Great Ninja War, Mirai and his older brother, Namikaze Minato, were feared across the ninja world as Konoha's Dual-Colored Flash. While Minato became the Yellow Flash through the Flying Thunder God Technique, Mirai earned the title Blue Flash through his overwhelmingly powerful Magnet Release. He could strike from extreme range, fly, and defeated the Fourth Kazekage in the sky over the Land of Wind. 2

Mirai vanished during Kushina Uzumaki's pregnancy and remained missing for three years. Konoha's policy treated missing shinobi as deceased after that period, but he returned before Hiruzen could officially close his file. 2

Upon returning, Mirai sought out Naruto, discovered the boy living in severe neglect, and immediately became a protective family figure in his life. Naruto's treatment, Minato's death, and Kushina's death became central motives behind Mirai's hostility toward Konoha's old leadership. 2 12

Danzo's Root attempted to ambush and seal Mirai after his return. Although Root used non-metal weapons and a sealing barrier specifically designed to counter Magnet Release, Mirai escaped, massacred the operatives sent after him, and later became a major political threat to Danzo and Hiruzen. 14 15 16

Mirai resembles Minato closely enough to be mistaken for him at a glance, though his expression and eyes are markedly more severe. 2 191
