Background / History

Judge was the reigning king of Germa Kingdom when he led his forces into the Kingdom of Samir. Germa’s rifles, howitzers, rocket launchers, and heavy machine guns vastly outmatched the opposing army. Judge personally breached the royal palace with an electrically charged spear, but remained dissatisfied that the campaign had taken almost a month. He believed Germa still lacked the strength to restore its former glory and dominate the North Blue. 38

Roa confronted Judge immediately after Germa’s victory. Judge was unable to resist Roa’s physical strength or his manipulation of negative emotions. Roa exploited Judge’s fear, cowardice, hatred of the World Government, and desire for recognition, turning him into a dependent follower. Judge accepted the position of head of Roa’s research department and pledged himself to the plan to overthrow the World Government. 39

Under Roa’s orders, Judge completed the integration of Germa Kingdom into the Calamity Company. He continued researching Battle Suits and Lineage Factor modifications, while Roa assigned him the task of investigating Shusui’s properties. 40 49

Judge’s research later produced a functional Battle Suit. Roa tested it on Doflamingo and approved its use for the Wailing Ghosts, whose lack of Haki made them vulnerable to ordinary weapons. Judge was also ordered to develop modified humans and eventually redirected his experiments toward artificial soldiers. 93

Caesar Clown was later forced to serve as Judge’s deputy. Their relationship became openly competitive, with both scientists disputing their relative intelligence and status within the research department. 205

Over the following twenty-five years, Judge expanded the Calamity Company’s military and scientific infrastructure. His work produced Artificial Devil Fruits, Zoan soldiers, multiple generations of Calamity Knights, sky-space battleships, a floating city, Lineage Factor implantation, and the Fallen Angels. 208 268 269

Appearance

Judge is a tall man with wild golden hair. During Germa’s campaign in Samir, he wore a combat suit and carried an electrically charged spear. 38 Years of research left him haggard, with a beard reaching his chest and heavy dark circles beneath his eyes. 93

Despite his ambition, Judge initially displays pronounced cowardice and weak resistance to psychological pressure. Roa’s manipulation leaves him unable to make important decisions independently, causing him to defer to Roa even over the fate of conquered civilians. 39 40

Judge places enormous value on Roa’s approval. Praise from Roa excites and reassures him, while criticism or the fear of failure causes visible distress. 59 269 270

He is proud of his scientific achievements and reacts defensively when Caesar challenges his position. His ambition also makes him willing to consider ethically extreme experiments, including using artificial humans as subjects for Lineage Factor modifications. 93 205
