Background / History

Creation and early settlement

Nuwa created the Human Race, achieved sainthood through the resulting merit, and declined to remain as their deity or personally direct their growth. She instead urged them toward self-improvement and departed. Fuxi received merit alongside her, forming a bond of fortune linking himself, Nuwa, and the Human Race; he consequently acknowledges himself as one of their ancestors. 123 233

The early Human Race was physically weak and lived primitively, but displayed intelligence and resilience. Human tribes reached the East Sea on foot, where Fuxi identified the young Suirenshi as a future disciple. 132

Fire and the transmission of cultivation

Suirenshi's creation of fire by drilling wood gave humanity a means to drive away beasts and cook food. Fuxi later accepted him as a disciple, gave him a Nine Revolutions Golden Elixir, and promised the tribes that another teacher would eventually impart cultivation methods. 140

Guided by Fuxi, Laozi descended among the tribes and taught a path of cultivation. His teachings enabled the Human Race to reproduce, develop, and preserve cultivation knowledge through later generations. 142 144 179

East Sea development

Protected by the Witch Clan and the Sages, the Human Race developed on the East Sea coast without major warfare. Their population rose from roughly one million to nearly one hundred million within two thousand years; later growth reached billions. 172

Their growing population produced increasing numbers of cultivators and led to the formation of sects, a social structure more advanced than the original tribal organization. Qingshan Sect, led by an Earth Immortal, became a notable East Sea force for young Human Race cultivators. 172

Expansion and the Demon Race conflict

The Human Race eventually left the East Sea and began exploring the wider Honghuang Continent. They discovered that, despite the presence of powerful experts, their own strength placed them in the upper-middle ranks among Honghuang's myriad races. 253 256

During this expansion, Human Race cultivators initially seized smaller tribes' territories, then began competing with races possessing Grand Unity Golden Immortals. Their cultivation methods, inherited from Laozi's teachings, gave them a major advantage. 257

The Human Race formed a close early relationship with the Witch Clan and hunted low-level demons for food. Their growing strength and their support for the Witch Clan made them an escalating threat in the eyes of the Demon Race. 274
