Who Opened the Chamber of Secrets?
The news that the Chamber of Secrets had been opened caused panic among everyone, and the atmosphere in the castle became extremely tense after Sean told the professors that the monster in the Chamber of Secrets was likely Basilisk.
It wasn't just the Basilisk's terrifying abilities, but also the fact that Dumbledore wasn't at Hogwarts.
Daisy told Sean that the Hogwarts headmaster had only shown up briefly at the beginning of the Halloween Feast and then disappeared without a trace, and had not returned even after such a serious incident.
While the students were chattering away, Professor McGonagall walked into the Great Hall.
"The professors will be conducting a thorough search of Hogwarts," she said to everyone. Professors Flitwick and Professor Sprout had already closed the doors of the Great Hall. "For your safety, you will need to stay here overnight. Professor Snape, Professor Lockhart, and Professor Scamander will remain in the Great Hall. Meanwhile, I need the Prefect to maintain order, and the Head Girl/Boy to oversee the overall management."
Nearly Headless Nick, volunteered to become the leader of the Ghost Liaison Team. He felt guilty about Edmund's fate and believed that if he hadn't asked Edmund for help, this might not have happened.
Sean, on the other hand, was eagerly awaiting Dumbledore's return. He planned to report the location of the Chamber of Secrets to the headmaster as soon as he returned.
He wouldn't be foolish enough to try and be a hero; Basilisk are not a target for Sean's Zoo.
Sean blinked. If he remembered correctly, the Chamber of Secrets should be the abandoned girls' restroom where the Moaning Myrtle had been staying, right?
It looks like there's Little Snakes around a water tap.
Sean thought for a while. He couldn't recall these minor details from his past life, but it didn't matter. The professors would definitely be able to find out.
After moving the long table aside and conjuring up hundreds of soft, purple sleeping bags, Professor McGonagall left the Great Hall.
The Prefect from each college walked through the Great Hall: "Everyone, get into your sleeping bags! Lights out in ten minutes!"
But the students' chatter never stopped; almost every Hogwarts student had heard the legend of the Chamber of Secrets.
Now that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened, curiosity and fear are intertwined, and everyone has endless things to say.
"I asked Professor Binns before, and he said that the so-called Chamber of Secrets is just a rumor made up by later generations, and it's impossible for any monster to live for hundreds or thousands of years," said a fifth-year student from Ravenclaw.
"Now it all seems to be true," a short girl from Hufflepuff said fearfully. "We're all going to be eliminated."
"My parents are both Muggle, I'm doomed, I'm definitely going to be targeted." Someone's face had already turned pale.
"Who can guarantee they're completely Pure-blood?" That was Harry's voice. "That Slytherin idiot who provoked Sean earlier, he's already feeling guilty!"
Neville chimed in, "Yes, if we really follow Slytherin's original requirements, most people in the castle would be on the purge list, but then the school would have to close, and Dumbledore wouldn't allow that to happen."
The Prefect ' voices rang out again. "No more talking! Lights out!"
The candles floating in mid-air immediately went out, and Sean and Hermione dragged a sleeping bag to a corner, with Daisy following behind.
"This is the first time I've seen professors make such a big fuss. This incident looks very serious," Hermione said in a low voice, frowning.
"This is the right choice," Sean pulled his sleeping bag tighter around himself. "Letting the students roam freely until the danger is over could lead to a series of injuries and deaths."
"How will that monster move?" Daisy blinked, a little scared.
Sean looked up at the dark ceiling, which was dotted with many stars, just like an open-air camping trip.
"A water pipe, my and the professors' theory is that it's a water pipe," he explained softly. "That thing is very likely a Basilisk."
"Basilisk?!" Hermione almost exclaimed. She glanced around cautiously and said incredulously, "Sean, are you sure? I once saw an introduction to Basilisk in the library. They're an extremely terrifying creature."
"Very likely."
"Hermione, what is Basilisk?" Daisy asked in a low voice.
While Hermione was explaining to Daisy, Sean turned his attention to something else. Earlier in the Hospital Wing, out of consideration for Hagrid's privacy, he hadn't asked him why he'd been expelled.
This involves the circumstances surrounding the opening of the Chamber of Secrets back then—he still doesn't believe that the Chamber of Secrets was opened this time by Riddle or someone possessed by his Horcrux, which is illogical.
I need to find Hagrid tomorrow and ask him about the situation...
Not a single student was asleep in the Great Hall; the rustling sounds never stopped, making it feel like sleeping in a forest teeming with insects.
The ghosts kept floating around, talking to the professors on duty.
The students finally fell asleep exhausted around 3 a. m., but the professors and Prefect were still patrolling. It seemed that Professor McGonagall and the others had not caught the murderer.
Lockhart had already leaned against the stone wall and started to doze off, until Snape walked over and poked him hard with his wand, at which point Lockhart chuckled and continued standing in the doorway.
Finally, even Sean, who had been holding the Jade Piece in his mouth, fell into a deep sleep.
The next day, everyone got up from the ground with aches and pains, but Professor McGonagall solemnly told them that the danger was not over and they still needed to stay in the Great Hall.
Fortunately or unfortunately, today was supposed to be a day off, with no classes, but everyone couldn't go to the Common Room or the Quidditch Pitch.
Professor Flitwick provided everyone with their homework so they could study on their own, but none of the students at the long table opened their textbooks, and the panic of the Chamber of Secrets being opened gradually spread.
Sean then approached Hagrid.
"I'm sorry, Hagrid, I shouldn't have asked you this, but the situation is special, and I need to know." He looked at the little Giant in front of him and said sincerely.
"Sean, what do you want to know?"
"Hagrid, did you leave Hogwarts back then because of something?"
Hagrid flushed red, and he painfully scratched his messy beard. "I understand what you mean... Yes, I was expelled from school back then."
"Can I ask why?" Sean asked cautiously.
"The reason? Sean, you don't actually think I opened the Chamber of Secrets, do you?!"
