The Moody Witch's Name
Sean nodded and said in a serious tone, "That Ghostly Horned Serpent."
Because Dumbledore had said that the Ghostly Horned Serpent would stay in the Forbidden Forest, Sean hadn't considered that possibility. But putting everything together, it seems the Ghostly Horned Serpent can become invisible!
Unlike ordinary ghosts, it not only becomes invisible, but it can also cause damage.
Sean had been wondering why the killer had only cut the throat. If the killer was the Ghostly Horned Serpent, then it made sense; the wound on Fang's abdomen was just like that—sharp but not serious.
Moreover, although the Horned Serpent has become a ghost, it is still a snake. The Parseltongue language is not only used to control Basilisk, but can also be used to communicate with all snakes!
That Ghostly Horned Serpent was clearly not very smart; whether it was bewitched or lured by some kind of benefit, it had become an accomplice of the Heir of the Chamber.
Professor McGonagall had clearly thought of this as well, and her gaze grew even more serious. "Unbelievable... but all things considered, that Ghostly Horned Serpent is very likely an accomplice."
"Yes, Professor, that guy is special, but only this specialness can explain why the spell isn't working," Sean said.
"This is going to be difficult. That thing isn't a normal ghost. It can even become invisible and create illusions..." Professor McGonagall sat down with a headache.
Sean's expression wasn't good either. Although he had deduced the most likely culprit, dealing with the Ghostly Horned Serpent had become a new problem.
Sean even suspected that the Horned Serpent might no longer be a ghost, but something else— Non-Being.
Non-Being, also known as non-human paranormal phenomena, is a type of Magical Creatures. They transcend life and death and have no counterpart in the Muggle world. Muggle can only perceive all currently known Non-Being indirectly.
Because Non-Being transcends life and death, it neither arises nor dies. Non-Being arises from human emotions and feeds on them. It is constantly appearing.
There are three typical types of Non-Being: Boggart, Dementor, and Poltergeist. Peeves from Hogwarts Castle is a special individual among the Poltergeist.
The specifics of that Ghostly Horned Serpent are unclear, but it currently appears to be a new kind of Non-Being. After all, ghosts don't possess such power.
Sean shared his thoughts with Professor McGonagall, and the stern witch pondered for a moment before slowly nodding, "Sean, your guess makes sense, but Horned Serpent do exist in reality—this could very well be a new Magical Creatures."
"Is there any way to Banishing Charm or trap it? Like Banishing Charm Dementor?" Sean asked.
"New Magical Creatures, and the spells associated with them may take a long time to be invented— the Patronus Charm didn't exist when Dementor appeared," Professor McGonagall explained.
Sean sighed in disappointment, which meant they were still helpless against that guy...
But they don't know who the hidden heir is, and they can't make a move on him through that route... Are they just going to wait for Professor Dumbledore to return? If that Ghostly Horned Serpent keeps killing like this, Mr. Wallop will be summoned by the government for buying up large quantities of live roosters.
Actually, Sean did have an idea to deal with that guy.
Previously, when he faced the Ghostly Horned Serpent in the Forbidden Forest, it was wary of the professors, and at that time, it possessed Hagrid.
At the same time, when that thing emerged, Hagrid's mouth was noticeably wide open, which means that the Ghostly Horned Serpent at that time had a physical form.
Does that mean that if the possessed person is controlled, the Ghostly Horned Serpent will also be controlled? Or, when it is about to possess someone, the spell can have an effect on it when it switches to its physical form?
Sean thought this was very likely; otherwise, given the characteristics of ghosts, wouldn't that guy be invincible? Why would he need to keep sneaking around?
But that's precisely where the problem lies with this method.
That guy is only interested in people with Magical Creature Affinity Sean and Daisy.
Sean had no interest in risking his life; he'd rather let the chickens suffer for a while longer...
He couldn't possibly let Daisy do it either. Sean already treated Little White Flower sister, and besides, if she really did it— Snape would kill him beforehand.
A headache-ridden Sean bid farewell to the troubled Professor McGonagall, and now could only hope that Professor Dumbledore would return to Hogwarts soon.
As soon as Sean stepped outside, he encountered a transparent figure— Nearly Headless Nick.
The ghosts of Hogwarts have recently been acting as patrol officers and liaisons, since they no longer have to worry about dying again. Professor McGonagall has also promised that if any ghosts unfortunately perish, they will be the first to be awakened once the Mandrake matures— Professor Sprout has already developed Potions to awaken petrified individuals.
The ghosts readily agreed; for them, sleeping for a period of time was not something unacceptable.
"Hey, Nick," Sean greeted him.
"Oh, Sean," Nearly Headless Nick, then added seriously, "You shouldn't be here alone. The professors' notice says all students should travel in groups."
At first, Nick felt very guilty because Edmund had been petrified. But after learning that Edmund could be awakened, he cheered up and is now very dedicated to the task that Professor McGonagall gave him.
Sean nodded. "Yes, I understand, so my friend is already waiting for me over there."
He pointed to the corner of the stone corridor, where Hermione and Daisy were waiting. Lately, the three of them had been traveling together.
"Oh, well done," Nick nodded, floating to a different position. "Even though it's only a short distance, I should still escort you there."
Sean didn't refuse the other person's kindness. "Thank you, Nick."
The man and the ghost walked towards the end of the stone corridor. Sean casually asked, "Nick, have you ever heard that ghosts can use magic?"
"Oh, that won't do. Even very special ghosts can only slightly affect reality. For example, the Wailing Widow I mentioned to you, her crying can be very irritating and sometimes affect a wizard's spells, but that's about it," Nick explained in detail.
"Oh, okay..." Sean was a little disappointed. He changed the subject. "By the way, Nick, do you know any other ghosts? I mean, ghosts from some great families, or ghosts who know a lot of ancient knowledge—buddy, it's not that I don't trust you, it's just that more hands make light work. Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington will understand what I mean."
"Oh ho ho, you're right," Nick was pleased with Sean's way of addressing him. He scratched his head and thought for a moment, then his eyes lit up. "Most ghosts probably can't help, and I know what they know—but I do know one ghost. She's not very talkative, has a bad temper, and doesn't like to interact with people. I don't know her, which means she might be able to help you."
"Who is that ghost?" Sean asked curiously.
"It's the one I had Edmund pick up that day. I was actually quite surprised. She had been staying in the Cormgary Valley. I had just sent her an invitation to my 500th birthday celebration as a courtesy, and I didn't expect her to come. But she actually agreed."
"I see... wait, did Edmund pick her up?" Sean suddenly thought of a question, "Did Edmund pick her up?"
There was no other petrified, dark ghost at the scene.
Nick scratched his head. "I don't think so. After what happened, I guess she went back to the Cormgary Valley on her own. I feel really bad for not being able to properly entertain her."
What's her name?
"Few ghosts know her. We all call her the Moody Witch. As for her real name," Nick thought for a moment, "I think it was Gormlaith Gaunt."
Sean stood there, frozen in place.
