At the foot of Buzhou Mountain, the Qilin Clan had set up layer upon layer of defenses, lying in wait for Taiqing.
The three Qilin elders—Water Qilin, Fire Qilin, and Earth Qilin—who should have gone to support the area around Mount Sumeru on the Western Continent, had all remained at their clan grounds at the foot of Buzhou Mountain.
All for the sake of waiting for Taiqing.
This was how it happened:
"Clan Chief, I discovered a Grand Unity Golden Immortal who possesses an Innate Supreme Treasure.
As long as we seize that Innate Supreme Treasure, our Qilin Clan will certainly win the war against the Dragon Clan and Phoenix Clan."
Those were Fire Qilin's words when Beginning Qilin had sent a message ordering him to bring Water Qilin and Earth Qilin to the Western Continent for reinforcements.
Upon hearing that Fire Qilin had discovered an Innate Supreme Treasure, Beginning Qilin stopped caring about anything else and immediately agreed.
An interesting development followed.
Originally, Ancestral Dragon of the Dragon Clan and Yuanfeng of the Phoenix Clan had also intended to send powerful experts from their clans to reinforce the Western Continent.
Yet when they saw that the Qilin Clan's three elders—Fire, Water, and Earth Qilin—had not gone to reinforce the Western Continent,
and had all remained at the Buzhou Mountain clan grounds,
they feared that the Qilin Clan might launch a surprise attack while their own clan grounds were poorly defended.
Thus, the Dragon Clan and Phoenix Clan powerhouses who had originally planned to reinforce the Western Continent all remained where they were, staying behind in their clan grounds.
Only Ancestral Dragon, Yuanfeng, and Beginning Qilin led the clans and races that had followed them from the start into battle on the Western Continent.
None of the three clans or Taiqing knew that, because of Taiqing's little detour to Buzhou Mountain,
the fates of all three clans had been changed, and the course of the Dragon-Han Calamity had been inadvertently altered by Taiqing.
On the Western Continent, Ancestral Dragon, Yuanfeng, and Beginning Qilin were fighting like mad.
The entire Western Continent seemed to have been plowed over. Everywhere the eye could see was devastation, without a trace of life.
The clansmen and subordinate races brought by Ancestral Dragon, Yuanfeng, and Beginning Qilin had been reduced to almost nothing, with only a few stragglers left.
At the sight of this, the three peerless beings—Ancestral Dragon, Yuanfeng, and Beginning Qilin—froze in place and stopped fighting.
The dragon, phoenix, and qilin felt their Primordial Spirits clear, finally breaking free from the Calamity Qi wrapped around them.
As they looked at their nearly extinct clansmen and subordinates, then at the devastated Western Continent, their minds were filled with nothing but regret.
Their three clans had fought for supremacy in the Primordial Wilderness, yet there had been no ultimate victor.
Instead, they had benefited the hidden powerhouses and fallen into the schemes of others.
Now that they had awakened from the Calamity Qi's influence, how could they not realize they had been caught in someone else's plot?
Feeling the terrifying Karma upon them, all three were seized by a deep, dreadful fear.
As though struck by sudden inspiration, a flash of insight appeared in Ancestral Dragon's Primordial Spirit.
"Great Dao above, Great God Pangu above, Heavenly Dao above.
I, Ancestral Dragon, fell into the schemes of others and fought for supremacy in the Primordial Wilderness, causing the Myriad Races of the Great Desolation to wither and the Western Continent to be destroyed.
Now, knowing my sins are grave, I am willing to use my body, Ancestral Dragon's body, to eternally guard the Four Seas and regulate the water veins of the Primordial Wilderness.
From this day onward, the Dragon Clan will withdraw from the struggle for supremacy in the Primordial Wilderness and regulate the water veins of the Four Seas for the Primordial Wilderness.
Unless it is an immeasurable Tribulation or a matter of life and death for the Dragon Clan, the Dragon Clan shall not emerge."
As Ancestral Dragon's oath fell, the Primordial Wilderness shook. Though the Great Dao did not appear, the trembling of the Primordial Wilderness signified its approval of Ancestral Dragon's oath.
Since the Great Dao had expressed its stance, the Heavenly Dao naturally dared not refuse.
Then, Ancestral Dragon transformed into a towering golden dragon and flew toward the Eastern Sea.
Afterward, Ancestral Dragon merged into the Eastern Sea's water veins and suppressed the water veins of the Four Seas.
The Dragon Clan members still on the Western Continent, as well as those of the Four Seas, all regained clarity in their Primordial Spirits. One after another, they transformed into enormous dragons and entered the water veins of the Four Seas.
What followed was merit descending from the heavens and merging into the Dragon Clan.
It dispelled much of the Dragon Clan's Karma.
Seeing this, Yuanfeng was similarly struck by inspiration and followed Ancestral Dragon's example.
"Great Dao above, Great God Pangu above, Heavenly Dao above.
I, Yuanfeng, fell into the schemes of others and fought for supremacy in the Primordial Wilderness, causing the Myriad Races of the Great Desolation to wither and the Western Continent to be destroyed.
Now, knowing my sins are grave, I am willing to use my body, Yuanfeng's body, to suppress Undying Volcano and regulate the balance of yin and yang in the Primordial Wilderness.
From this day onward, the Phoenix Clan shall regulate yin and yang for the Great Desolation World, channel the fires of Undying Volcano, and prevent Undying Volcano from endangering the Primordial Wilderness.
Unless it is an immeasurable Tribulation or a matter of life and death for the Phoenix Clan, the Phoenix Clan shall not emerge."
Afterward, Yuanfeng transformed into a towering phoenix and flew toward Undying Volcano. She then entered Undying Volcano to channel the terrifying flames within it.
The remaining Phoenix Clan members likewise transformed into phoenixes and flew toward Undying Volcano.
They entered Undying Volcano to assist in regulating yin and yang for the Primordial Wilderness.
As Yuanfeng suppressed Undying Volcano, she drew upon the qi of yin yang and the Five Elements, laying two phoenix eggs.
One contained the qi of yin and yang, while the other contained the qi of the Five Elements.
Merit likewise descended, dispelling much of the Phoenix Clan's Karma.
The Karma on those two eggs, however, was completely erased.
Seeing both of his opponents swear oaths and withdraw from the Primordial Wilderness, Beginning Qilin was similarly struck by inspiration.
He transformed into a towering qilin and flew into the sky.
"Great Dao above, Great God Pangu above, Heavenly Dao above.
I, Beginning Qilin, fell into the schemes of others and fought for supremacy in the Primordial Wilderness, causing the Myriad Races of the Great Desolation to wither and the Western Continent to be destroyed.
Now, knowing my sins are grave, I am willing to use my body, Beginning Qilin's body, to suppress the earth veins of the Primordial Wilderness and regulate them.
From this day onward, the Qilin Clan shall regulate the earth veins of the Primordial Wilderness.
From this day onward, my Qilin Clan shall become an auspicious sign of the Primordial Wilderness. Wherever qilin appear, auspicious omens shall surely emerge.
Unless it is an immeasurable Tribulation or a matter of life and death for the Qilin Clan, the Qilin Clan shall not emerge collectively."
As Beginning Qilin's words fell, he transformed into a streak of light and merged into the earth veins of the Primordial Wilderness.
The remaining qilin, whether the survivors on the Western Continent or those at the Buzhou Mountain clan grounds,
all transformed into streaks of light and merged into the earth veins of the Primordial Wilderness, regulating those earth veins from then on.
Merit likewise descended, dispelling much of the Qilin Clan's Karma.
The three terrifying powerhouses who had once dominated the Primordial Wilderness withdrew from its stage at a terrible cost.
As the three powerhouses made their oaths and the oaths took effect, the endless baleful Calamity Qi in the Primordial Wilderness began to disperse.
The Dragon-Han Calamity, the Tribulation born from the Dao-Devil War, had finally come to an end.
Beneath Mount Sumeru, Luohu's face was grim.
"Damn it! Beginning Qilin is simply courting death, daring to suppress the earth veins of the Primordial Wilderness.
Doesn't that render my final method useless?"
Luohu had originally intended to use the earth veins of the Western Continent as his trump card. Even if he lost the Dao-Devil War against Hongjun,
he could still detonate the earth veins of the Western Continent along with himself.
That way, even if he lost, Hongjun would not have it easy either.
But now that Beginning Qilin had suppressed the earth veins of the Primordial Wilderness, how could he possibly carry out his plan to detonate the Western Continent's earth veins?
Yet no matter how furious Luohu was, there was nothing he could do to Beginning Qilin.
Beginning Qilin had now become one with the earth veins. To move against Beginning Qilin was to move against the earth veins of the Primordial Wilderness.
The resulting Causality and Karma would be boundless.
Even Luohu could not endure the backlash of the entire Primordial Wilderness.
Within the Heavenly Dao Origin Space, the Heavenly Dao, which had been struck dormant by Great Dao Thunder, trembled.
The course of the Dragon-Han Calamity was completely different from what the Heavenly Dao had planned, and the greater trend had changed somewhat.
Originally, the elites of the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans should have been completely wiped out.
Ancestral Dragon, Yuanfeng, and Beginning Qilin should also have perished, using their bodies to suppress the Four Seas and Undying Volcano, while Beginning Qilin became Qilin Cliff.
Only a sliver of their true spirits would remain entrusted to the heavens and earth of the Primordial Wilderness.
