Power Progression

Background and History

Hongjun cultivated on Jade Capital Mountain and maintained friendly relations with other reincarnated Chaos Demon Gods, whom he privately regarded as expendable allies 2. Guided by the Heavenly Dao and the largest fragment of the Jade of Creation, he entered the formation protecting the unborn Sanqing to seize their companion treasures. Their Merit of World Creation repelled his technique; the ensuing backlash gravely injured him and forced him to flee 4.

After recovering, Hongjun sought allies for his conflict with Luohu. Several prospective allies rejected him or demanded spiritual treasures for their help 29 49 60 77. In the battle, he deployed his Three Corpses against separate gates of Luohu’s Immortal Slaying Sword Formation. The corpses later self-destructed, and Hongjun survived the conflict with lasting damage to his origin 109 113 137. He subsequently attained Heavenly Dao Sainthood and preached at Purple Heaven Palace 182 189.

Hongjun continued trying to draw the Sanqing into his plans while cultivating influence through disciples and sermons. He distributed Hongmeng Purple Qi and spiritual treasures to chosen beings, including Di Jun and Tai Yi, and used the gifts to establish obligations and strengthen the Heavenly Court 253 258 259. After merging with the Dao, he was restrained within the Heavenly Dao Origin Space. The Heavenly Dao punished him for failing its plans, while Hongjun privately sought a way out of its control 278 279 511.

His later confrontations with the Sanqing and their allies brought repeated defeats. They killed him in one clash, though he appears again in subsequent events 576 644 691. After Jidu replaced him as Dao Integrator, Hongjun’s cultivation progress weakened. He ultimately dissipated into law fragments when Chi You, Xing Tian, Kuafu, Hou Yi, and Xiang Liu overwhelmed his defenses 867.

Appearance

Hongjun is depicted as an old man with an immortal, dignified bearing 36 56.

• After healing the visible injuries from his battle with Luohu, he regained a seemingly immortal and refined appearance, although his lost origin energy remained unrestored 137.
• His severed corpses resembled him closely 109.

Personality

Hongjun favors concealed plans, leverage, and control over others’ Destiny. He can be patient—waiting tens of thousands of years for the Sanqing—but becomes angry or humiliated when his schemes fail 29 138 402. Although he serves the Heavenly Dao, he resents its restraints and prepares contingencies to escape them 137 279 511.

• His three Peak Quasi-Saint corpses helped assault separate gates of the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation 109.
• He assigned corpses to obstruct targets and defend his interests while his main body pursued cultivation 178 249.
• Loss or destruction of the corpses was costly; restoring them increased his reliance on the Heavenly Dao 137 279.

Heavenly Dao power and divination

The Jade of Creation lets Hongjun draw on Heavenly Dao Power and deduce broad currents of Tian Ji 4.

• He used that power to pass through the Sanqing’s protective formation, but contact with their Merit of World Creation caused a severe backlash 4.
• Drawing repeatedly on the Heavenly Dao’s power increased its hold over his Primordial Spirit 144 194.
