Background

The Ancestral Witches were born as Pangu's blood descendants. Each was innately linked to a single Law and possessed an Ancestral Witch True Form; this command of Laws was as instinctive to them as breathing. Their bodies were immensely powerful, but Pangu's essence blood had been tainted by primordial Killing Intent, leaving their souls tightly fused to their flesh and normally preventing the cultivation of Primordial Spirits. If an Ancestral Witch's body died, their true spirit could not escape for reincarnation. 1 2 4

Originally, the group consisted of twelve siblings. Wu Tian's emergence from a blood cocoon in Pangu Hall created an unprecedented thirteenth Ancestral Witch. Although he initially possessed neither an innate Law nor a True Form, the twelve entrusted him with drops of their essence blood; he refined their Laws and became their hidden successor to Pangu's inheritance. 1 2 3

Under Wu Tian's advice, the Ancestral Witches avoided premature conflict during the Dragon-Han Tribulation. They cleaned battlefields, absorbed Killing Intent, collected corpses to replenish the Blood Pool, and gave their earned merit to Houtu. This both expanded the Witch Clan and enabled Houtu to cultivate a Primordial Spirit. 4 6 7

They formally established the Witch Clan beneath the witness of the Great Dao. In response to their oath, portions of their souls and Law imprints merged with Heaven and Earth, turning the twelve into Gods of Laws whose existence helped complete the Primordial World. 48 49

When Houtu transformed herself into the Six Paths of Reincarnation, the remaining Ancestral Witches entered the forming Underworld to help complete it. They later received Earthly Dao merit and merged with the Ten Kings of Hell, becoming major supports of the Underworld's operation. 322 332 466

Original Twelve

The original twelve are Dijiang, Jumang, Rushou, Gonggong, Zhurong, Tianwu, Qiangliang, Xizi, Zhu Jiuyin, Shebi Shi, Xuan Ming, and Houtu. Wu Tian is recognized as their thirteenth sibling rather than a replacement for any of them. 1 3 1150

Appearance

Ancestral Witches possess powerful physical bodies and can manifest enormous True Forms. Their ordinary battle aura is dense, heavy, and saturated with baleful Killing Intent; their Law-God manifestations instead appear ethereal and governed by pure Law power. 1 48

The Ancestral Witches are proud of their Pangu lineage, blunt in speech, and deeply inclined toward direct action. They value strength, battle, sacrifice, and bloodline above abstract authority; managing the Primordial World's Laws personally was considered tiresome, even after they became Gods of Laws. 14 49 294

Their roughness does not prevent loyalty. They gave Wu Tian their precious essence blood without hesitation, treated him as a true brother, protected him when threatened, and increasingly accepted his strategic advice despite his very different temperament. 2 3 74

Although naturally impulsive, the group gradually learned patience and secrecy. Dijiang ordered Wu Tian's Pangu True Form concealed as the Witch Clan's trump card, while the others supported strategic reforms to their formation and long-term preparations against the Heavenly Dao's schemes. 13 17

Every original Ancestral Witch is born with one innate Law and can strengthen it through physical cultivation.
