| Cultivation breakthrough; realm unnamed | 72 | Emerges from seclusion with Zhu Jiuyin and explicitly confirms their breakthrough. His previously fierce aura has become more restrained and unfathomable. The preceding cultivation period benefited from the Witch Clan’s increased fortune and the blessings of the Law Deities. |
Appearance
Dijiang ordinarily walks in human form despite possessing an Ancestral Witch True Form. His presence is marked by dense Killing Intent and a tyrannical aura 9 184 382.
- Large, fan-like palms: Frequently used to discipline his brothers or deliver forceful, affectionate shoulder slaps 3 466.
- Restrained ferocity after his breakthrough: His aura remains brutal but gains a deeper, less openly exposed quality 72.
- Underworld manifestation: As King of the Wheel, a faint shadow covers his body, while heavy Yin energy partially conceals his Witch blood energy and adds majesty to his bearing 467.
Personality
Dijiang is fiercely protective of his clan and quick to answer insults with violence. He attacks Zhunti inside Zixiao Palace without regard for the setting, and later rushes to defend the other Ancestral Witches despite being badly wounded himself. His affection is similarly physical: praise often comes with shoulder slaps strong enough to stagger their recipient 3 26 91 112.
He takes pride in his own intelligence, privately ranking Wu Tian’s wisdom just below his own. Nevertheless, he recognizes useful advice, accepts Wu Tian’s secrecy plans, and develops strategies to preserve the clan rather than relying exclusively on force 3 5 13.
His devotion to Pangu shapes his attitude toward fate and death. He rejects the idea that the Witch Clan must passively accept destruction, while regarding death in service to the world as a return to Father God’s embrace. Over time, he becomes increasingly willing to follow Wu Tian’s judgment, even when that means retreating rather than fighting 85 320 440.

- Spatial displacement: Expels Zhurong and Gonggong from Pangu Hall with palm strikes reinforced by his law 5.
- Enclosed travel space: Creates a separate pocket of space around his companions; Zhu Jiuyin’s law strengthens its protection against the Ninth Heaven Winds 19.

Dijiang inherits this supreme formation through Pangu’s bloodline and directs the Ancestral Witches in deploying it 45 249.
- Identifies it as a way for Wu Tian to unite and control his conflicting twelve laws 9.
- Organizes modifications proposed by Wu Tian; Zhen Yuanzi’s explanation of the Earth Book’s formation resolves several outstanding problems 14 45.

- Glimpses the Witch-Demon War, the clan’s destruction, and Wu Tian’s importance to its survival 85.

Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Pangu Hall — A shared treasure of the Ancestral Witches that Dijiang drives for transport, confrontation, and formation support. He uses it to block the Pangu Seal’s heavenly tribulation, then later proposes entrusting it to Empress Pingxin; it becomes the Six Paths of Reincarnation Hall 107 156 184 307 467.
- Ancestral Witch Essence Blood — Gives Wu Tian blood containing his spatial law. A later drop contains arrangements intended to guide Dijiang back from his future-probing expedition 3 9 73 85.
- Hongmeng Measuring Ruler / Primordial Measuring Sky Ruler — Borrowed from Wu Tian to suppress Dijiang after a dangerous surge of aggression during the confrontation with Nüwa 250.
- Book of Life and Death — Received from Empress Pingxin for Underworld work. Dijiang discovers that it cannot record cultivators who have transcended the Three Realms and Five Elements, and seeks to expand its reach 467.
- Reincarnation Brush — Held alongside the Book of Life and Death in his capacity as King of the Wheel 467.
Relationships
- Wu Tian — Cherished younger brother, recognized successor of Pangu, and the clan’s key hope. Dijiang supports his cultivation, protects him from enemies, and increasingly entrusts major decisions to him. He offers Wu Tian the position of Big Brother, which Wu Tian refuses 3 9 13 26 85 110 390.
- Zhu Jiuyin — Second Brother and closest strategic partner. Their complementary spatial and temporal laws enable joint protection and future exploration; Zhu Jiuyin’s caution balances Dijiang’s confidence 17 19 73 85.
- Houtu — Younger sister whose Primordial Spirit breakthrough he celebrates. He supports her world-completing undertaking despite his grief at the prospect of losing her 4 320.
- Empress Pingxin — Underworld sovereign whom he treats with formal respect. He helps stabilize her realm through the donation of Pangu Hall and serves as King of the Wheel 466 467.
- Xuan Ming — Younger sister allowed greater latitude than his unruly brothers. He accepts her sharp correction without anger, explicitly because she is his little sister 466.
- Zhurong and Gonggong — Brothers whom he regularly disciplines. After seeing the future, his anger toward Gonggong is sharpened by the vision of Gonggong destroying Mount Buzhou 5 101 106.
- Zhen Yuanzi and Hongyun — Accepted as brothers of the Witch Clan after Zhen Yuanzi helps resolve its formation problems. Dijiang welcomes them enthusiastically, including the clan’s rough shoulder-slapping treatment 45 112.
- Jieyin and Zhunti — Recurring adversaries. Their hostility toward Wu Tian prompts Dijiang’s attack at Zixiao Palace and later punitive demands in the Western World 26 73 103 105.
- Di Jun and Taiyi — Members of the rival Demon faction who later become collaborators. Dijiang expresses respect for Di Jun’s resolve and subsequently joins forces with Taiyi and participates in outer-realm campaigns under Di Jun’s command 466 832 1050 1152.
History
Recognizing the Thirteenth Ancestral Witch
Dijiang declares Wu Tian Pangu’s successor and joins the other Ancestral Witches in giving him essence blood. He accepts Wu Tian’s proposal to retain the public name “Twelve Ancestral Witches,” keeping the new brother hidden until his strength matures 3.
He approves the plan to concentrate beast-slaying merit on Houtu and credits Wu Tian when she develops a Primordial Spirit. Soon afterward, he proposes activating the Blood Pool to nurture additional clansmen 4 5.
When Wu Tian’s newly acquired spatial and temporal laws destabilize his body, Dijiang and Zhu Jiuyin intervene. Dijiang identifies the conflict and recommends the inherited formation as its solution. After Wu Tian manifests Pangu True Form, Dijiang orders everyone to keep that ability secret except in life-or-death circumstances 9 13.
Zixiao Palace and the Clan’s Expansion
Before attending Hongjun’s teachings, Dijiang places the Great Witches in charge of protecting the clan. His spatial law carries the group toward Chaos, but Hongjun’s spiritual-energy-based teaching leaves him and the other Ancestral Witches deeply uncomfortable 18 19 30.
At Zixiao Palace, he attacks Zhunti for threatening Wu Tian’s seat. Later, he initially refuses Wu Tian’s offer of future calabash treasures, accepting only after Wu Tian argues that strengthening his brothers will also improve his own protection 26 37.
Dijiang welcomes Zhen Yuanzi and Hongyun into the clan’s brotherhood, supports its formal founding, and enters seclusion to cultivate. He and Zhu Jiuyin subsequently emerge with a confirmed breakthrough 45 49 51 72.
The Future-Probing Expedition
Concerned by Wu Tian’s repeated warnings about the clan’s future, Dijiang and Zhu Jiuyin arrange to probe the River of Time during the third sermon. They entrust Wu Tian with specially prepared essence blood before departing 73 85.
They witness the Witch-Demon War and the destruction of their clan, then become trapped in a lifeless Space-Time Rift containing dead Chaos Demon Gods, treasures, and spiritual roots. Dijiang resists despair by insisting that the clan must fight for its future and that Wu Tian remains its ultimate safeguard 84 85.
Wu Tian rescues them. Although battered and wounded, Dijiang immediately prioritizes helping the other Ancestral Witches in their ongoing conflict. His injuries remain incompletely healed well afterward 91 99 147.
Retribution and Securing Clan Resources
Dijiang leads the Ancestral Witches’ punitive expedition against Jieyin and Zhunti, demanding treasures and a branch of the Seven Treasure Tree. The fighting devastates the Western World; Wu Tian’s subsequent repair arrangements help remove the resulting karmic sin, a change Dijiang perceives in the clan’s fortune 103 105 107.
He and Zhu Jiuyin later provide the Witch Clan’s Grand Dao rune for Wu Tian’s treasure refinement. Dijiang protects the resulting Pangu Seal from heavenly tribulation with Pangu Hall. The rune gives the seal direct access to the clan’s fortune 155 156 158.
He also helps obtain the Jianmu Tree and retrieves Mount Fangzhang Immortal Island for Wu Tian’s Origin Realm, including a surrounding sea area roughly three or four times the island’s size 184 191 193.
Resisting the Tribulation
Dijiang orders the ancestral formation against Nüwa, but Wu Tian reminds him that escalating the confrontation risks advancing the predicted Witch-Demon catastrophe. Alarmed that he had forgotten his own precautions, Dijiang receives Wu Tian’s measuring ruler to restrain himself 249 250.
He later supports Wu Tian against Taiqing’s attempt to appropriate Human Race fortune. Recognizing that the Witch Clan cannot be as inclusive as humanity, he backs the Human Dao and formally declares the clan willing to serve as its vehicle 306 307 384 390.
As the final crisis approaches, he helps gather clansmen for transfer to the Origin Realm. When events begin resembling the disastrous future he witnessed, he accepts Wu Tian’s direction, including the possibility of retreating to the Underworld 423 440.
Underworld Service and Later Campaigns
In the Underworld, Dijiang insists on properly greeting Empress Pingxin rather than taking familial familiarity as permission to be presumptuous. He proposes donating Pangu Hall to secure the clan’s lasting fortune and strengthen the Underworld 466 467.
As King of the Wheel, he studies the Book of Life and Death and becomes dissatisfied with its inability to register transcendent cultivators. His ambition turns toward extending the Underworld’s administrative reach 467.
He later cooperates with Taiyi during the Investiture of the Gods conflict and participates in campaigns against Chaos Demon Gods. After a successful battle, news that Wu Tian has entered the Returning Ruins alone alarms him and Zhu Jiuyin; their detailed knowledge of that dangerous region attracts Di Jun’s suspicion 832 1050 1152.
