Nature and Function
Subspace exists on a different plane from the real universe and contains widespread psionic energy. A Psionic User can resonate with it through their mind and draw on its energy. 55
- Humanity's century-long Psionic Ascension began after the Psionic Monsoon of Subspace reached Blue Star's region of space following the discovery of an Alien Ruins. 1
- For Mid-Rank Martial Artists, advancement to High-Rank requires resonance with Subspace and gradual synchronization with psionic energy. 91
- High-Rank Martial Artists retain material bodies altered by psionic energy, while fully ascended Psionic Users abandon material existence and merge with Subspace's energy. 143
- Psionic Users can alter their composition, exhibit particle-and-wave characteristics, and travel through vacuum at light speed. 143
- Subspace is described as the ultimate destination of Psionic Ascension and the fundamental power source for martial artists following that path. 97
Influence on Psionic Users
Resonance and Empowerment
Subspace reshapes the bodies of those who resonate with it, allowing High-Rank Martial Artists to store and mobilize amounts of psionic energy far beyond ordinary humans. 135 143
- Innate Supernatural Talents possess a connection to Subspace from birth and can access supernatural abilities ahead of normal advancement. 154 164
- Supernatural abilities require psionic energy as a medium; they are characterized as blessings from Subspace that cannot be artificially replicated. 113
- Psionic Users may traverse Subspace, communicate through it over immense distances, and use it to cross between the real universe and distant locations. 96 194
- The Space Force uses psionic matrices and the Star Road to exploit Subspace-related spatial travel and near-instantaneous communication. 172 189
Assimilation and Erosion
Subspace's power comes with an escalating risk of assimilation. It seeks to merge Psionic Users completely with itself, and excessive use of psionic energy can destroy a user's independence. 135
- A Psionic User can be completely assimilated, leaving behind only a fragment of spiritual energy. 135
- High-Rank Martial Artists who have resonated with Subspace are registered within it as its representatives in the real world. 149
- Psionic energy can silently influence individuals with innate resonance, as seen when a strand of energy implanted the urge to seek out Li Changqing in Ye Haotian. 154
- Ye Haotian's body was progressively sacrificed to Subspace in exchange for greater power, until only his brain remained. 158 160
Retaliation Against Defection
Subspace reacts violently when its connected martial artists attempt to sever their psionic path.
- When Li Changqing converted Qin Qi's psionic energy into Qi, Subspace produced a psionic storm to resist the loss of its representative. 149
- Li Changqing severed Qin Qi's connection and shattered the storm using the power of Heaven and Earth, proving that psionic resonance was not irreversible. 149
- Within Li Changqing's World Domain, Subspace cannot contact Psionic Users, allowing him to cut their connections and transform their psionic energy into Qi. 205
- Jia Yi's successful conversion showed that a former Psionic User could regain a physical body and retain a powerful Half-Immortal Physique after separation from Subspace. 205
Relationship with the Real Universe
Subspace and the real universe are fundamentally opposed. Psionic energy distorts Qi and annihilates the will of Heaven and Earth within it, while the real universe's will can reduce psionic energy back into Qi. 289
- Li Changqing's Unity of Heaven and Man caused his qi, blood, mental power, cells, and Dragon Qi to instinctively reject Subspace. 97
- His Yang God's power, rooted in Qi and harmony with Heaven and Earth, is incompatible with psionic energy and provokes backlash from Subspace. 114
- Subspace is characterized as a parasite attached to the real universe, dependent on Qi for its existence. 289
- The Great Luo status of the Subspace Four Spirits anchored Subspace on a level capable of matching the real universe despite this dependency. 289
Subspace Evil Spirits and Evil Gods
Subspace can produce Evil Spirits capable of attacking souls directly. These beings are distinct from ordinary Psionic Users and can act as Subspace's agents in the real universe. 174 186
- A Subspace Evil Spirit severely wounded Zeng Ran with a glance and took his student's soul. 174
- The Martial Arts Association used a trapped Evil Spirit as a weapon by transmitting a target's aura to it. 174
- The Evil Spirit escaped its Circulating Space-Time prison, killed Psionic Users, extracted souls, and developed self-awareness after absorbing a wisp of Li Changqing's Qi. 179 184 186
- Though Li Changqing could initially destroy its body, the Evil Spirit regenerated through its connection to Subspace until he manifested his Inner Scenery in reality and cut off that support. 186
- Primordial Evil Spirits such as Ya Jiu and Hong Qi were created by the Subspace Evil Gods and could use karmic connections to hunt Li Changqing across time. 247 258
- The Subspace Evil Gods are the rulers of Subspace, the source of psionic energy, and the center of psionic monsoons. 258
History
After Psionic Monsoons reached Blue Star, humanity developed Psionic Ascension from clues recovered from an Alien Ruins. The resulting power enabled humanity to bypass its technological blockade, but also bound its strongest martial artists to Subspace. 1 164
The first ascended Psionic Users held enough power to dismantle the old governments and establish the framework of the unified world government, Martial Arts Association, and Space Force. 171 Later, the Psionic Users learned that widespread Old Technique cultivation could draw the attention of more powerful civilizations. The Martial Arts Association consequently suppressed Old Techniques, embraced Psionics, and pursued coexistence with the approaching alien fleet. 171
Li Changqing's cultivation revealed the incompatibility between Subspace and the power of Heaven and Earth. He repeatedly defeated Subspace-derived power, severed High-Rank Martial Artists' resonance, and eventually developed a method to convert Psionic Users themselves into Qi Practitioners. 97 149 205
Subspace later mounted direct assaults through its Evil Spirits and Evil Gods. Its Four Spirits launched psionic energy tides intended to destroy both Subspace and the real universe, denying Li Changqing the conditions to prove the Legend. 287 288 289 Li Changqing attained Creation Power, recreated the River of Time and the real universe after their annihilation, and defeated the Four Spirits. 289
