Background

Li Changqing arrived in Rong City as a university graduate with a D-Class psionic assessment, a rating that left him overlooked beside more gifted candidates such as Jiang He. Despite an ordinary physique, he discovered an internal anomaly that rewarded relentless exertion with rapid improvements to his physical attributes and Vitality Concentration 1 2.

He failed Chengtian Martial Arts School’s entry assessment after completing the weighted run in seven minutes and thirty-six seconds, but his performance impressed coaches Kang Tianchen and Zhang Yang. Kang offered him another opportunity by teaching him Old Technique Tai Chi, establishing the foundation of Li’s martial path 3.

Li trained obsessively, combining Tai Chi, breathing methods, nature-based cultivation, and Artistic Conception. He developed the Hegemon Xiang Yu conception from the Overlord Lifting Cauldron Diagram, then adapted Tai Chi through the Flowing Water True Meaning and Heaven-Man Resonance 16 20 23.

During the Youth Cup, he emerged as Rong City’s leading young martial artist. He defeated Jiang He, overcame Sun Sheng in the final with the Pure Yang Sword Art, won the championship, and earned selection for the Psionic Research Institute’s Seedling Plan 42 52 53.

The Seedling Plan instead revealed that Li was “Psionic Incapable”: psionic energy could neither be contained by nor safely contact his body. Rather than ending his progress, this condition led him to shatter psionic energy, receive Lü Dongbin’s inheritance, name the resulting power “Qi,” and begin reconstructing the lost path of cultivation 55 58 59.

Li later defeated Bai Tianci, publicly demonstrated that Old Techniques and Qi could overcome psionic energy, and became recognized as a Martial Arts Grandmaster. He subsequently published cultivation guidance so ordinary martial artists could follow the Old Technique path rather than rely on Psionic Ascension 129 132 143.

Appearance

Li Changqing’s appearance changes substantially as his cultivation refines his body. Early in his training, his fair skin gains a jade-like luster; later breakthroughs make his physique increasingly dense, harmonious, and physically perfected 17 23 116.

  • Often wears a white, wide-sleeved Daoist robe commissioned by Kang Tianchen for combat and Tai Chi performance 48.
  • His body can appear glass-like, transparent, and flawless when his spirit leaves his physical form 84.
  • His presence becomes increasingly difficult to conceal; powerful mental strength can make observers feel as if he is directly watching them 134.
  • In the epilogue, he manifests as an immeasurable divine body identified as Pangu 292.

Personality

Li Changqing is intensely diligent and treats cultivation as both a personal discipline and a source of genuine joy. He repeatedly seeks extreme conditions—waterfalls, deep lakes, storms, cliffs, and even planetary environments—to force breakthroughs rather than waiting for opportunities to come to him 20 24 28 138.

He begins with envy toward psionic geniuses such as Jiang He, but this fades after he recognizes his own potential. His confidence eventually grows into open arrogance, particularly once he has the power to publicly challenge the dominance of Psionic Ascension 15 59 134.

Despite his confidence, Li values those who helped him. He credits Kang Tianchen for teaching him Tai Chi, publicly thanks both Kang and Chen Danqing after becoming Youth Cup champion, and later shares his cultivation knowledge rather than monopolizing it 42 53 143.

His central ambition is not merely personal strength. He wants to revive the Old Technique path, prepare humanity for alien fleets, storm alien strongholds, and take part in the Great Human Expedition 132 143.

  • Can enhance Qi and Blood, mental strength, physical transformation, and supernatural abilities.
  • Dominates and can plunder power from psionic energy rather than being rejected by it 78.
  • Allows Li to convert psionic energy into Qi and help Psionic Users or High-Rank Martial Artists switch cultivation paths 149 205.

  • The palaces allow Li to transcend the limits of his original body by making vitality and spiritual power mutually reinforcing 69.

Human King's Authority

An inheritance received after drawing the Xuanyuan Sword and subduing the Long River Dragon Vein 108.

  • Allows him to command and reshape territory associated with conquered Dragon Veins.
  • Enables control of world power through his Inner Scenery 114 115.
  • Supports suppression of Dragon Veins and the ending of the Long River flood 108.
  • Becomes a key component of his path toward the Human King and later transcendence.

Inner Scenery and World Power

Li cultivates an internal world through the Heaven’s Will Stele, the Kun Palace, and Human King’s Authority 146 152.

  • His Inner Scenery develops into a complete world with oceans, land, life, and a creator-centered ecosystem 152.
  • Can evolve the world to empower its inhabitants and advance its rank through Shanhai Characteristics 188.
  • Uses Divine Power derived from this world to manipulate, suppress, create, and destroy on a vast scale 162.
  • Creates Dao Beacons, small external domain spaces that can revive cultivators at or above High-Rank Martial Artist level 205.

  • Future Sight — Examines probable futures through the River of Time 162.

Temporal and Legendary Powers

After entering the River of Time and developing Taiyi characteristics, Li’s power extends across temporal nodes 199 220.

  • Can traverse and manipulate the River of Time.
  • Creates legendary avatars based on major stages of his life and uses them as independent combatants 220.
  • Can stack power across Dao Beacons and time nodes when temporarily reaching Taiyi 283.
  • Achieves Great Luo, traverses all temporal nodes, and unifies the Dragon Veins 292.
