Ravenclaw Was No Mere Bookworm House
In the elegant room simulated by the Room of Requirement, smooth marble reflects pure white light.
A copper crucible rested on a burning charcoal fire. Inside the crucible, large bubbles continuously emerged from a strange, purplish-green, viscous liquid. After expanding to the surface tension limit of the viscous liquid, they burst with a "pop," and then the next bubble appeared, repeating the process endlessly.
When Loren added the Rafflesia extract to the crucible, a visible gray-green fumes rose up. Loren quickly enlarged the Bubble-Head Charm covering his head, and an invisible, transparent gas membrane enveloped his entire body.
Glug glug...
Loren looked at the slightly boiling crucible and once again had the idea of removing the Bubble-Head Charm and taking a whiff of it.
After pondering for a long time, he finally gave up, after all, a clever little wizard wouldn't fall into the same trap twice.
The stirring spoon with automatic stirring function rotates at a constant speed. After stirring evenly, the liquid in the crucible still needs a certain reaction time to reach a stable state.
With nothing else to do while waiting, Loren took the opportunity to examine the Soul Stone once more.
The smooth black pebble had grown larger, its shape somewhat resembling a smooth, rounded black cobblestone, and it reflected almost no light.
From Magic Power perspective, the Dementor ' black and gray evil Magic Power was dotted with scattered glimmers of greenish-blue light, which were remnants of Wormtail Peter's soul, though their numbers had decreased significantly compared to a few days ago.
Absorbing souls seems to be a long process, just like human digestion; Dementor also need time to digest.
"[Patronus Charm] "
A silvery-white light shone from the tip of the wand, and then, guided by Loren, slowly approached the Soul Stone.
Zi—
The spot where the Soul Stone was touched by the silver light instantly showed a clear scratch, just like a red-hot iron being placed on snow, without any obstruction.
Retracting his Patronus light, Loren looked at the Soul Stone thoughtfully. "Aside from getting a little bigger, it doesn't seem to have changed much after absorbing soul Magic Power."
Besides Dementor and Horcrux, are there other ways to uncover the Magic Power within a soul?
As Loren watched the potion gradually stabilize in the crucible, a sudden inspiration flashed through his mind—
Unforgivable Curses!
That night, Loren went to bed early, his consciousness drifting into the Fantasy Book.
Instead of blindly groping around without any direction, it would be better to consult an old wizard. Although Flamel had managed to fool people about soul qualities last time, Loren still wanted to try again.
"... That kind of soul Magic Power seems to contain extremely powerful energy, so I wonder if there is any magic that can utilize soul Magic Power without limit..."
"The Unforgivable Curses seems to have this characteristic. Whether it's the Cruciatus Curse, the Imperius Curse, or the Killing Curse, they all directly affect the soul. But this is a curse cast on someone else's soul. I wonder if there are any talismans that can tap into the Magic Power of the soul?"
After Loren finished speaking, he looked up at the illusory figure floating in mid-air.
Flamel gazed at the tiny figures below, his thoughts drifting away...
It was thought that even with Loren's talent, it would be decades before he came into contact with this field, but unexpectedly, the Soul Stone inspired Loren.
To be able to connect the soul Magic Power to that protective spell, and from that protective spell to traits... what an amazing talent!
However, the soul, traits... these are not things that a teenager should be studying. He doesn't understand what love is, what courage and wisdom are... Without sufficient experience and soul resilience, prematurely exploring the realm of the soul is just a waste of effort.
"Hmm..." Flamel frowned, feigning thought, and after a few minutes looked up, saying seriously, "The Dementor ' Magic Power, Nicol doesn't seem to have any related research in his memory. As for the Unforgivable Curses, it does indeed affect the soul, inflicting pain, control, and killing on it..."
He rambled on and on about a lot of information from the book, as if he had said everything, yet also as if he hadn't said anything at all.
"..."
Loren looked at Flamel expressionlessly, paused for a moment, and then asked, "Anything else?"
Flamel continued unhurriedly, "The origins of the Three Unforgivable Curses are unknown, but some unsubstantiated ancient texts record that the Peverell brothers each created one of the three curses."
Loren raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Peverell, the three Deathly Hallows?"
"Yes," Flamel stated in detail, "The eldest, Antioch Peverell, wields the most powerful Elder Wand, made of Elder Wood and with Thestral Tail Feather as its core. To demonstrate that his Magic Power has conquered death, he created the Unforgivable Killing Curse."
"The second son Cadmus Peverell, used the Resurrection Stone to summon his long-dead lover and, inspired by his wife's tormented soul, created the Cruciatus Curse."
"The third brother Ignotus Peverell, the owner of the Invisibility Cloak, was wise and humble, always avoiding direct conflict with others. The Imperius Curse was his masterpiece."
This was the first time Loren had heard of such a claim, and he asked curiously, "Can you confirm this?"
"No, it's just a folk tale," Flamel replied quickly.
"..." Loren finally understood that he was just fooling him. He resisted the urge to quit the Fantasy Book and simply asked, "I want to learn."
"No," Flamel replied even more decisively.
Loren took a few deep breaths and asked, "So, what about traits? Do you have anything to say?"
Flamel blinked. "What trait?"
call out--
Loren's consciousness instantly withdrew from the Fantasy Book, leaving no trace.
"Tsk, young man..." Flamel chuckled and shook his head.
Tuesday, Charms Class class.
"We've finished reviewing all the spells we learned in the first year. Don't underestimate these basic spells; as I said, every spell has unexpected potential. I hope you'll practice diligently. There won't be any papers assigned for this lesson." Professor Flitwick said, standing on his high stool and tidying up his books. "Alright, children, that concludes today's lesson."
"Yay!"
"Long live Professor Flitwick!"
The young wizards cheered, packed up their books, and happily left together.
Hermione slammed her first-year textbook onto Loren's desk, jumped off the stool with a nimble gait, and said in a rapid-fire voice, "I'm going to Muggle Studies first. When I get back, I'll go straight to Hagrid's and wait for you. See you at Care of Magical Creatures!"
After saying that, she ran out of the classroom like a gust of wind. Loren didn't have time to answer. He only saw the girl's fluffy brown hair bouncing as she gradually disappeared into the distance.
Harry pulled Ron up from behind and leaned against the desk next to Loren. Harry also noticed Hermione's back, looked away, and asked with some confusion, "It's still early before Hagrid's class, why is Hermione in such a hurry? Going to the restroom? Are we going to wait for her here?"
"Didn't she also have a Muggle Studies session?" Ron asked thoughtfully.
"Stop guessing, she can't be in two places at the same time." Loren put his and Hermione's textbooks into his bag and zipped it up. "Don't wait for me, you two go to Hagrid first. I have some questions about spells that I would like to ask Professor Flitwick."
"Oh~ a problem with the spell~"
"May I ask Professor Flitwick?"
Harry and Ron repeated what Loren had said, mimicking George and Fred's tone and teasing them, exuding the aura of academic underachievers.
As Harry laughed, Harry noticed something was off. "Isn't today supposed to be a review of first-year material? You're Loren Morgan, you probably finished it before the Sorting Ceremony, why are you asking me for help?"
Upon hearing this, Ron also opened his eyes wide and looked at him.
"The other spells." Loren stood up, patted the two of them on the shoulders and pushed them out of the classroom. "Don't ask any more questions. Go take a look at Hagrid's new teaching materials when you have time, and help him check them out, so you don't become Draco's sidekick again."
Harry shuddered at the memory of that Potions class.
Ron laughed gleefully, "On the bright side, at least you got an O in Potions that class, right?"
"Shut up!" Harry said nothing more, and pulled Ron away quickly.
As all the young wizards gradually left, only Loren, who had been deliberately rubbing against them, remained at the back. Professor Flitwick on the stage was slowly and methodically organizing his lesson plan.
"Oh, Loren," Professor Flitwick looked up and, seeing he was still there, said with a chuckle, "Hurry up, or you'll be late for the next class."
Having Apparition experience teaching Apparition, the two were far more familiar with each other than typical teachers and students.
"There should still be plenty of time for the Care of Magical Creatures." Loren took a few steps to the front of the stage, carefully considering how to begin without surprising Professor Flitwick.
Professor Flitwick changed his look during the holidays. He shaved off his messy, gray beard, dyed his hair black, and combed it neatly.
His current look is serious and formal, while his original look was more approachable. If I had to choose, Loren preferred Professor Flitwick's previous look.
Professor Flitwick, head down, finished packing his books. Looking up, he was somewhat surprised to find that Flitwick was still there. "Do you have any questions about today's lesson?"
"Sir, I would like to ask about... the Unforgivable Curses." Loren spoke hesitantly.
It's really unusual for a third-year wizard to come and ask about forbidden Dark Arts, especially since even Flamel refused him.
"The Unforgivable Curses..." Professor Flitwick paused in his packing, looked up at Loren with a strange gaze, "The subject of Defence Against the Dark Arts, is that it?"
Professor Flitwick's answer was much calmer than Loren had expected, which gave him some hope. Defence Against the Dark Arts was indeed a good excuse, but he didn't want to deceive the kind professor like that.
"In fact, it was by chance that I discovered that the soul seems to contain powerful Magic Power... I learned that the Unforgivable Curses is a rare spell that directly affects the soul, so I wanted to study it." Loren told his thoughts in detail, although he concealed some parts.
"The Magic Power of the soul... the Magic Power of the soul." Professor Flitwick muttered to himself, once again troubled by the young wizard's exceptional talent. After a moment of thought, he slowly spoke, "Undoubtedly, Loren, you are progressing rapidly on the path of magic. However, at your age, it is still too early for you to be exposed to the Unforgivable Curses."
"Besides, it's too early for you to want to explore the mysteries of the soul. But—" Before Loren could show any disappointment, Professor Flitwick smiled and said, "I encourage you to give it a try."
Loren's face lit up with joy.
"If you're studying the relationship between magic and the soul, I think you're overlooking a more practical approach."
"What method?"
"Dark Arts".
"Dark Arts!?" Loren raised his voice slightly; it was hard to believe that the professor was saying such a thing.
Seeing the growing surprise on Loren's face, Professor Flitwick smiled and said, "Don't be so surprised, Loren. I am the Head of House of Ravenclaw. Compared to the other three Founders, Ravenclaw is more rational and more neutral."
"Unlike Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, who openly oppose Dark Arts, and unlike Slytherin, who openly supports it, the Grey Lady's attitude towards Dark Arts Dark Arts is no different from her attitude towards other forms of magic..."
In the spacious Charms classroom, the Half-blood- elf wizard explained in detail the matters concerning Dark Arts:
"During the casting of Dark Arts, there is a subtle influence on the caster's soul. This influence on oneself is easier for you to perceive..."
"I heard you've already mastered the Patronus Charm, which is why I recommended this method to you. The Patronus Charm can negate the effects of Dark Arts." At this point, Professor Flitwick winked like Dumbledore. "When I was your age, I had already mastered several powerful Dark Arts."
Loren's expression was somewhat strange as he recalled the experiences of this half- Half-blood professor.
Because of his unusual appearance, Flitwick was always bullied at school...
Snape's experiences with the Marauders show that the bullying at Hogwarts in its early stages was essentially tantamount to harassment. However, this professor was not like Moaning Myrtle, who would be bullied at will. He fought his way up and eventually became the Duel Champion.
My amiable and approachable nature was something I developed after decades of being a professor.
It's often said Ravenclaw Slytherin produces dark wizards, but many Ravenclaw wizards also went on to study in Azkaban after graduating, such as Quirrell, Rita, and Lockhart.
This is no ordinary nerdy academy.
"But Professor... that's not what you said when I was learning Apparition," Loren said softly.
Professor Flitwick paused for a moment. "I oppose young wizards getting involved with extremely dangerous spells like Apparition and Fiendfyre too early, while some simple Dark Arts is not in this category."
"So, Professor, can you teach me Dark Arts?"
"Bring me Headmaster Dumbledore's approval slip."
