The black-hearted capitalist Loren Morgan made the snakes extract their own venom, and with foreman Harry Potter's help, they quickly finished the workload of two trunks of snakes.
Loren put the lid back on the trunk and neatly arranged the test tubes of venom on the shelf. Then they waited peacefully for Snape to return and announce that today's detention was over.
Hermione's words sparked everyone's interest in looking around the storage room, but none of them dared touch anything. No one knew whether Snape had placed curses or poison on these materials.
Harry felt that Snape had exactly that in mind—leaving the office so they would lower their guard and touch something carelessly, only to die of poisoning without leaving a shred of evidence.
Ron stood far away, curious about the value of the materials, and kept asking Hermione and Loren questions.
"How much is this worth?"
"A Demiguise skeleton. A few dozen Galleons, maybe. Their fur is worth more."
"What about this?"
"Swooping Evil wings. I don't know how much those cost either."
They waited for a long time, but Snape never returned.
Thinking of how Snape had placed the Galleons Dumbledore awarded them on the table beforehand, Loren offered a guess. "We probably don't need to wait for him to come back."
Hermione and the others did not object. They could not stay in the office forever.
Loren and the others checked everything over once more, made sure they had not missed anything, and left.
Ron walked at the very front, happily cradling the little cloth bag of Galleons. He tossed it up, caught it, tossed it up, caught it. Listening to the crisp metallic clinking of the Galleons inside, he felt a heartfelt sense of happiness rise within him.
Tsk. What a wonderful night.
