Background

Dumbledore is a former Gryffindor and a former Hogwarts Transfiguration professor. During Armando Dippet's tenure as Headmaster, he proposed establishing an Alchemy class, but abandoned the effort after Dippet made clear that it would bring burdensome opposition from the Ministry and parents.
