Background / History

Aramaki infiltrated Blood Hand Lion Reginald's crew under false pretenses, intending to steal a Devil Fruit pursued by both Reginald and the Whitebeard Pirates. He openly admitted that he had never truly sided with the pirates. Before he could consume the suspected Mori Mori no Mi, Ortolan intercepted and defeated him, sending him into the sea with a lightning-infused strike. 207 208

Surviving the encounter, Aramaki was shaken by Ortolan's strength and began considering a career in the Marines as a path to power and status. 211 He later entered Marine Headquarters as a Vice Admiral backed by Mary Geoise and acquired the Logia-type Mera Mera no Mi. 332

At Headquarters, Aramaki emerged as a leading figure among officers loyal to Mary Geoise. He criticized Ortolan's ties to the Big Mom Pirates, presented allegations concerning Ortolan's New World forces, and attempted to persuade Sakazuki to support a World Government-led purge of Ortolan, Sengoku, Garp, and Zephyr. 397 398

During the Marine factional crisis, Aramaki lost authority and support among the New World Marines, who openly rejected his leadership. 413 414 He ultimately accompanied Sakazuki to oppose Ortolan's arriving fleet at Mary Geoise Port. When he denounced Ortolan and defended the Five Elders' authority, Sakazuki revealed his allegiance to Ortolan and killed Aramaki with a magma fist. 432

Personality

Aramaki was ambitious, opportunistic, and strongly aligned with the World Government. He betrayed pirates for personal power, sought advancement through Mary Geoise's favor, and viewed loyalty to the Five Elders as a central duty. 207 398 432

He was also manipulative and politically calculating. Rather than directly challenge Ortolan, he tried to convince Sakazuki that supporting the World Government's plans would secure Sakazuki the Fleet Admiral position—and create an Admiral vacancy for himself. 397 398

Despite his confidence, Aramaki was intimidated by overwhelming force. After Ortolan's defeat of Oden, he abandoned his pursuit of the Mori Mori no Mi and chose to flee rather than confront Ortolan again. 211
