Background / History

Olvia was an Ohara scholar devoted to deciphering Poneglyphs and uncovering the world's hidden truth. Her late husband shared this pursuit; after his death, she carried his ashes while leading an expedition toward Alabasta's Poneglyph with thirty-three companions. 118

Her expedition was intercepted by Marine Admiral Gigue. Although initially attempting to conceal the group's purpose, Olvia accepted sole responsibility for studying Poneglyphs in an effort to shield both her companions and Ohara from government retaliation. 119

Gigue forcibly recruited Olvia to decipher Ancient Script in the ruins of Sleepy Ancient Town. There, she identified records concerning the Mythical Zoan Vampire Fruit and demonstrated enough expertise to guide Gigue through the site. 120 121 She remained committed to the right to know history even after Gigue warned her that the weak could only find death by pursuing truth. 123

After Gigue arranged for CP0 to report Ohara's research, Olvia and the other scholars were arrested. Gigue claimed Olvia for himself rather than allowing her execution, but the World Government proceeded with a Buster Call against Ohara. 223 225 226

During the attack, Olvia was reunited with her daughter, Robin, whom she had left behind years earlier. Witnessing Robin's mistreatment and the destruction of Ohara left Olvia overwhelmed by guilt; she thereafter prioritized Robin's safety above her former scholarly ambitions. 227 228 230

Gigue preserved the Tree of Knowledge's books and compelled Olvia to work under him. Over time, she became a library scholar and chronicler, compiling a work titled Celestial Dragon Genesis that ends with Gigue being called “King Gigue.” 230 345
