After emerging from Earth's Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Chaya's battle power had surpassed twelve thousand. After more than a year of steady consolidation, he had built an incomparably solid foundation. It was time to unleash that potential and make another breakthrough.
What he urgently needed now was a gravity device—preferably one capable of adjusting multiple parameters at once, such as temperature, air pressure, and gravity.
That would require the help of a high-tech civilization. Although Planet Vegeta had many aliens skilled in technology, Chaya truly did not dare use them. They were loyal either to Frieza or King Vegeta. The moment the gravity chamber was built, they would probably sell him out.
"The gravity chamber must be built as soon as possible. For the next mission, I'll choose one related to a high-tech planet!"
Chaya covered his temples with both hands and gently kneaded them.
He had so many Senzu Beans. If he did not train with a gravity chamber, it would be far too wasteful. With Senzu Beans, a gravity device, and his Saiyan physique, Chaya could already imagine his strength soaring by leaps and bounds.
His heart burned with excitement, and he could not wait to finish the mission and return to Planet Vegeta.
Five days later, they were back at the same old spot where their spacecraft had crashed.
Several Saiyans gathered together once more. By then, they had completed the extermination mission on Dotalia Planet. There were no longer any lifeforms on the planet with battle power exceeding 100.
Though only a little over ten days had passed, they had gone through countless battles, large and small. Dotalia Planet was, after all, a planet close to intermediate-level status. The enemies Shakuda and the others faced were not much weaker than themselves. After all that fighting, although they had escaped danger without mishap, their battle powers had genuinely risen.
Belit, the weakest among them, had now reached 810 battle power, an increase of seventy points. Shakuda, the strongest, had directly broken through to 1,030 battle power, mainly because of the strength of the opponents he had chosen.
To improve so much in just a few days put all the Saiyans in high spirits. Even Reida and Belit, who usually loved bickering, joked around with each other like good friends.
Chaya looked at everyone with satisfaction. Seeing their glowing faces and cheerful chatter, he could not help but smile. "All right, this mission has been successfully completed. Everyone's battle power has improved accordingly. It's time for us to return to Planet Vegeta!"
"Yeah, it's time to go back."
"Captain, make sure you pick a better mission next time. You have no idea how worried I was... I was terrified we wouldn't be able to complete it!" Belit pleaded.
"Hehe!"
"I do not have any particular demands for the mission. Besides, I am very much looking forward to my next mission with the captain." Atasia threw back her head and laughed. Her wavy hair fluttered in the wind, and her tall, slender figure and radiant smile gave her something of a mature air.
Jelin stood quietly to one side without speaking. The scorching air had left a sheen of sweat on her cheeks, but her bright, gleaming eyes showed that she was also greatly looking forward to the next mission.
"Hehe, don't worry. The next mission definitely won't disappoint you." Chaya smiled. After saying that, he leaped onto the spherical spacecraft at the center of the impact crater. The craft had sunk halfway into the mud and sand, their surfaces rough and battered, with some areas already scorched black.
"Let's go! Back to Planet Vegeta!"
Selyne cheered and jumped down after him.
The remaining people exchanged glances, then entered their own spacecraft one after another. Soon, seven white spheres rose into the air. Within seconds, they accelerated in a straight line to tremendous speed, then shot free of Dotalia Planet's gravitational pull with a whoosh, flying toward the deeper, quieter reaches of space.
One month later, Planet Vegeta.
The starlight was brilliant, and countless stars hung high overhead.
One side of Planet Vegeta was currently shrouded in night. The seven members of the Chaya Squad emerged from the Spaceport and headed straight for the nearest mission administration office.
It was still the same hemispherical three-story building, with the same ill-tempered Taje. After submitting the Dotalia Planet mission, the squad members prepared to part ways.
"Captain, I live in the northern part of the city. If you need me, just contact me through the communicator." Before leaving, Shakuda spoke with a serious expression. After this mission, he had become wholeheartedly convinced by Chaya, a captain three years younger than himself.
Not every Saiyan possessed leadership potential. A Saiyan who truly had the ability to command needed more than sufficient strength; composure and calmness were the bare minimum. Throughout this mission, Chaya had judged every situation with extreme precision, something everyone had witnessed. A captain who understood strategy was the key to a squad lasting long-term.
"Ah, Jelin and I live nearby. We're very close to the captain's home!" Atasia adjusted her battle suit, hooked an arm around Jelin's neck, and spoke.
"Mm!" Jelin replied in her usual soft voice.
Only Reida wore a mournful expression. "I'm the only one who lives far away. I still have to fly for ages..."
"Haha, then goodbye, everyone. I'll contact you when it's time for the next mission." Chaya laughed heartily, took Selyne's hand, and bid everyone farewell before flying toward home.
Since it was already night, the entire residential district was especially quiet. Aside from the bright lights swaying in the darkness, there was only the delicate, rustling chirp of insects.
When they returned home, they were surprised to find that the lights in the hall were still on. Besides Adri and his wife, there were also four Saiyans in the living room—two men and two women!
Chaya knew all of those Saiyans. They had once been members of the Adri Squad. By seniority, Chaya should have called them uncle and aunt.
Rebecca looked at Chaya and Selyne in surprise. "Didn't you go on an intermediate-level mission? How did you get back so quickly?"
"Of course we already completed the mission!" Selyne said proudly. Then she called out to the four Saiyans in the room, "Uncle Beruk, Aunt Lize..."
"Uncle Paradi, Aunt Alice, hello!"
Chaya greeted the four of them one by one. They had all once been members of the Adri Squad. After the Adri Squad disbanded, most of them had taken positions at the training camp. They were people who could absolutely be trusted.
The Adri Squad originally had thirteen members. Many years ago, they had suffered a devastating blow during a mission after being ambushed by hostile forces. Six members had died and four had been seriously injured. Chaya's parents had been among the fallen Saiyans. With over half the squad lost or injured, Adri later disbanded the team.
"Oh my, little Chaya and Selyne have grown so much. Mm, I heard you returned after completing your survival mission, but I never had the time to come see you. I didn't expect you to be this grown already." Alice stepped forward, opened her arms, and hugged them both.
Alice was a petite female Saiyan with a slender figure and a lock of ribbon-like long hair. Because Saiyans had an exceptionally long youth, she was already in her thirties yet still looked as energetic as a young girl.
She seemed to be trying to express her concern, but her manner was direct and rough. On Earth in Chaya's previous life, she would have been the very definition of a tough girl.
"Ugh, Aunt Alice!" Selyne cried out in dissatisfaction. The two soft mounds on Alice's chest pressed against her, making it a little hard for her to breathe.
"Hehe!" Alice chuckled before finally letting her go, though one arm still remained tightly around Selyne's shoulders.
The others also greeted them warmly. Beruk merely nodded with a cold expression, like an iceberg. That simple gesture counted as his greeting.
