Background / History

Qian Gu Changkong is the biological grandson of Thousand Jun Douluo and is also raised under the guidance of Subduing Demon Douluo, whom he likewise calls grandfather. Their Coiling Dragon Staff lineage and extensive combat training shaped both his martial soul and fighting style. 7 255

He first became acquainted with Wu Qi through a sparring match. Initially a troublesome, combative child, he began following Wu Qi closely and changed into a book-loving youth under his influence. Thousand Jun Douluo repeatedly expressed gratitude for this change. 8

Despite his family background, Changkong is conscious that Spirit Hall’s status and resources were inherited privileges. During his early Death Grand Canyon training, Wu Qi’s ruthlessness and restraint forced him to reassess both the world outside the academy and his own immaturity. 12 15

Appearance

Qian Gu Changkong is usually recognized by his imposing Coiling Dragon Staff and the dragon soul that can manifest around him in battle. He favors conspicuous, confident poses and formal attire suited to his status. 246 416 551

  • Had jet-black hair before one of his divine trials; he lost it after descending 150 meters farther into the Icefire Yin Yang Well than required. 442
  • Wears a fiery red formal robe for his Titled Douluo coronation preparations. 551
  • His staff’s dragon patterns can awaken into the Heavenly Awakening Sacred Golden Dragon. 496

Personality

Changkong is proud, loud, and fond of displaying his strength. He openly admits that he sees little point in having power if it cannot be shown off, and he frequently provokes opponents with taunts or theatrical gestures. 15 58 246

His greatest early flaw is arrogance. He habitually assumes he can control battles, imitates the combat systems of his Titled Douluo grandfathers without fully understanding them, and leaves himself exposed against unfamiliar opponents. Wu Qi and Sun Buyu repeatedly correct this tendency, and Changkong gradually learns to acknowledge mistakes and adapt his strategy. 96 97 145

He is nevertheless direct, protective of Spirit Hall’s reputation, and willing to shoulder responsibility. During the Wangbei City bandit-suppression mission, he condemns the branch’s negligence, rallies its personnel, and works with Hall Master Watt to protect nearby civilians from the bandit strongholds. 295 296 297

Abilities & Skills

Coiling Dragon Staff Martial Soul

A rare heavy-type staff martial soul associated with the Qian Gu Family. Its destructive power, reach, and control-oriented techniques allow Changkong to dominate close-quarters exchanges and break formations. 7 180 475

  • Can neutralize spear attacks and crush low-level enemy formations through raw staff power. 289
  • Excels against defense-type opponents; he remains undefeated during his Defense Clan sparring sessions. 419
  • Can force opponents into his rhythm by deliberately exposing openings and then punishing their reactions. 266
  • Is ineffective against targets whose defense vastly exceeds his output, such as the animated stone statue in the Poisonous Land. 368

Heavenly Awakening Sacred Golden Dragon

The dragon bloodline sealed within Changkong’s martial soul can awaken as a dragon soul and fight alongside him. 327 496

  • Suppresses martial souls or soul beasts with weaker bloodlines. 343 378
  • Enhances his combat presence and allows him to contend with opponents above his cultivation level. 496
  • Its bloodline suppression is limited against opponents with overwhelming cultivation or a Martial Soul Avatar. 378

Soul Skills

  • First Soul Skill: Coiling Dragon Blaze — Covers the Coiling Dragon Staff in flames, grants fire-attribute offensive power, and strengthens his arms. 7
  • Fourth Soul Skill: Coiling Dragon Breaking Army — A powerful direct clash technique used against Gong Li Hai’s Mountain Splitting Axe. 289
  • Fifth Soul Skill: Blazing Dragon Might — Greatly raises his physical attributes and summons the Heavenly Awakening Sacred Golden Dragon’s dragon soul. 327 361
  • Seventh Soul Skill: Martial Soul Avatar — Enlarges the Coiling Dragon Staff and manifests a massive humanoid avatar while releasing the dragon soul to fight beside him. 496

Staff Mastery and Self-Created Soul Skills

Changkong possesses advanced staff techniques developed through training under Thousand Jun Douluo and Subduing Demon Douluo. 97 266

  • Defeated Yu Feng with a Self-Created Soul Skill during a sparring match. 59
  • Restrained Yu Tianxin’s Thunder Dragon Claw through staff technique despite the difference in their martial soul physiques. 121
  • Defeated the stronger Sun Chuantao by drawing him into a deliberately constructed attack rhythm. 266
  • Can fight multiple opponents with support from his team, though he is vulnerable when he abandons coordination to fight alone. 180 246

Divine Trials and Divine Artifact

Changkong first receives a Red Level Eight Trial linked to the God of Destruction before being selected by the God of Ruin for a separate divine inheritance. 370 443

  • His God of Ruin inheritance begins from the second trial because his first trial is waived. 443
  • Completes his fourth God of Ruin trial near Maple Leaf City. 473
  • Is provided a divine long staff suited to his weapon preference after Wu Qi becomes a Titled Douluo. 484
