Teach Grindelwald a Lesson! (Second Update)
Amid the students' noisy discussion, Veratia stood up from beside Harry and walked over to Professor McGonagall.
Professor McGonagall picked up the tip of the hat, and the old hat struggled a couple of times.
"Thank you, Professor." Veratia gave a ladylike bow.
Professor McGonagall had a good impression of the blonde girl. Based on Gellert's character design, she had imagined Veratia to be a gloomy girl, or rather, an ambitious and manic person. She never expected her to be such an elegant and quiet girl.
"You're welcome, Miss Grindelwald." Professor McGonagall's expression softened, and she said to Vivi, "Please sit down. The Sorting Hat will assign you to a house that suits you."
Veratia sat down in the chair. This wasn't her first time Sorting, but she was still very much looking forward to it.
I'm curious to see how she reacts after the Sorting Hat is put on her head.
Soon, Professor McGonagall brought the Sorting Hat and placed it on Veratia's head.
"Ah..."
The Sorting Hat let out a long sigh.
"What's wrong?" Veratia asked in her mind.
"Did you all plan this? One by one, you're all torturing the Sorting Hat!" the Sorting Hat said indignantly. "Last year it was Potter, this year it's you, Grindelwald. I really don't want to think about whether next year there will be another person sitting here waiting for me to sort them into Sorting."
"I can't say for sure," Veratia replied, "But whoever comes to Hogwarts, you have to sort them into Sorting according to the rules, don't you?"
"I think you're right, Miss Grindelwald," the Sorting Hat said with a chuckle. "It's truly a pleasure to see old friends. I just hope that when Phineas finds out you're back, he won't react too strongly—especially since you're still with that Potter."
"I still don't quite understand why Phineas, who admires Harry so much, still targets him?" Veratia asked.
"Because he's Gryffindor, yet he won the hearts of two Pure-blood Slytherin girls," the Sorting Hat whistled in a disrespectful manner, "Do you remember the Black family home motto? Forever pure—"
He quickly added, "But Phineas likes Harry a lot now because he knows Harry isn't Muggle-born bad boy anymore."
"Such thoughts shouldn't come from a Headmaster," Veratia commented. "It's fair to say that there's a reason why someone like Phineas is so unpopular."
"But I still maintain that all Hogwarts Headmaster are competent in at least one respect," the Sorting Hat said with a chuckle.
Veratia agreed with the Sorting Hat, and said to the hat, "Tell me about Dumbledore, I'm very interested in him."
"What kind of interest are you interested in?" Old Hat's interest was immediately piqued. "Oh, I remember now, that bad boy who was expelled from Durmstrang was your brother, wasn't he? Albus once told me this story... Personally, I think you can trust the Headmaster of Hogwarts, even if that person once locked your brother up."
"What about the other professors? Like that one with the greasy hair, who looks like Slytherin?" Veratia brought up Snape.
This person...
She was deeply impressed; if Snape had any sense, he wouldn't have pushed Lily to James's side.
"You mean Severus, right?" The old man chuckled and introduced, "He's a little boy with a complicated childhood, and now he's the head of Slytherin. I don't know much more about him, but I do know he's Dumbledore's men."
"You know what? What you said is really ambiguous," Veratia commented.
"Oh~" Old Hat said, then said to Veratia, "So we've been talking for so long, can you stop with your Occlumency? You're really not like Harry, at least he doesn't hide things from Old Hat."
"If he knew Occlumency, you wouldn't be able to read his thoughts."
Upon hearing Veratia's words, the Sorting Hat suddenly realized what was going on.
"Alright, if you don't want to, there's nothing I can say. Well... I don't think anyone would betray their house, so you should go back to Slytherin."
"Yes, I should reform Slytherin." A flame ignited in Veratia's eyes. "What do you think?"
The old man didn't answer, but instead loudly proclaimed "Division into Sorting!" to express his thoughts.
"Without a doubt! Slytherin!"
The Great Hall was completely silent, but Harry's timely applause prevented the Sorting Ceremony from going cold.
"My God, she's from Slytherin," Ron whispered. "But I think she should be in Gryffindor. Think about it, she's your sister..."
Hermione rolled her eyes. Good heavens, Ronald, your emotional intelligence is truly...
Can't you see anything else?
"Everyone has their own choices, Ron." Harry chuckled and patted Ron on the shoulder. "I think—"
Before she could finish speaking, Veratia sat back down next to Harry.
She had changed into a Slytherin outfit, but was sitting in the Gryffindor long bench, a sea of red and black.
Just like when they were first Sorting.
"Good heavens, aren't you going back to your Slytherin seat?" Ron asked in a low voice, as Hermione pulled him back a little.
"The school doesn't forbid students from sitting there, Mr. Weasley."
Veratia casually remarked that she didn't have a bad impression of Ron, after all, his great-grandfather Gareth had given her countless assists back then.
The Slytherin seats looked displeased, but since they were in the Great Hall, they didn't say anything.
Miss Farley, however, gave Harry a meaningful look, then glanced at Veratia's retreating figure.
Then, with a wave of Dumbledore's hands, the long tables in each house were instantly filled with all sorts of delicious food.
Without saying a word, Ron picked up a chicken leg in each hand and activated Titan's Grip.
"How about I reward myself for winning the Wizard Chess Tournament twice, so I get to eat two chicken drumsticks?" Seamus quipped from the side.
Upon hearing this, Ron turned around, rolled his eyes, but said nothing and continued fighting the chicken leg.
After the banquet, Veratia said goodbye to Harry and followed Miss Farley back to the Slytherin Common Room.
After much deliberation, Miss Farley finally decided to assign Veratia to her own dormitory room—as Prefect, her power was... well, limited, but she still had a single room available.
This is all due to the unseen influence of the Prefect.
"Hello, Miss Grindelwald." Phally extended her hand. "I am Gemma Phally, Slytherin Prefect."
"Hello, Miss Farley." Veratia smiled demurely and sat down opposite Miss Farley.
Before long, Luchi suddenly appeared and began making Veratia's bed.
"Is this your House Elf?" Miss Farley asked with interest. "Good heavens, I've never heard of Hogwarts allowing House Elf to serve the students."
"Perhaps I'm a little special," Veratia said with a nonchalant smile.
"So, are you really, as outsiders say, that... well, that Mr. Grindelwald's successor?" Miss Farley asked tentatively.
"No, no." Veratia picked up her water glass.
Upon hearing Veratia's answer, Miss Farley didn't know whether to be happy or relieved, but she felt inexplicably disappointed.
Perhaps she didn't realize that she actually hoped the other person was a descendant of Grindelwald.
"Are you Britain?" Miss Farley asked again.
"I am German," Veratia said, stating an identity she had always taken for granted.
Yes, not Austria, not Hungary, and certainly not Germans, but... Germans.
"Oh, you're Germans," Miss Farley said with a sudden realization. "I've also had the privilege of traveling to Germany a few times with my father, and the pork knuckles and sausages there are really delicious..."
Veratia didn't reply, but simply gazed tenderly at Miss Farley with her eyes, as if trying to see right through her.
"Mistress," Luchi's voice sounded from beside them, "Luchi has already packed your luggage, and the books have also been categorized and placed on the bookshelves according to your request."
"Okay, thank you, Luchi," Veratia said gently.
"Mistress... Mistress is always so gentle with Luchi..." Luchi's big eyes blinked twice, tears almost overflowing. "Oh my god, Mistress..."
"Alright, Luchi, it's nothing." Veratia smiled and said, "Perhaps you should go home and sleep. After all, it's getting late, and I still need to chat with Miss Farley."
"Yes, mistress." Luchi wiped away her tears and disappeared with a snap.
Miss Farley's eyes held a hint of envy; she seemed to also long for House Elf to come to the school.
But she knew the school rules. How could she bring House Elf to the school to serve people without the permission of the Headmaster and the Board of Governors?
She thought to herself that this Miss Grindelwald must be a descendant of that Grindelwald, or perhaps she just didn't want to get into trouble.
After all, only that person could open such a convenient door for future generations, right?
"After asking so many questions, it's time to talk about you, Miss Farley." Veratia placed her hands on her lap.
"Go ahead and ask, Miss Grindelwald," said Miss Farley.
"I want to know, when did Slytherin become like this?" Veratia asked softly.
"Changed to this state?" Miss Farley was stunned. "Hasn't Slytherin always been like this? Why say 'changed'?"
"The Slytherin I remember should be shrewd, capable, and able to assess situations, not the ones who cling to the so-called ' Pure-blood ' ideals while abandoning all other qualities."
As Veratia finished speaking, she glanced out the window.
"But Pure-blood is something Slytherin has always insisted on," Miss Farley retorted.
"Yes, I do admit that," Veratia said softly. "Pure-blood is a principle that Slytherin House has always upheld, but it's only one aspect—we have ambition, we value honor, we assess situations, we prioritize victory... but what about now? What can we do besides calling a few Muggle-born wizard ' Mudblood '?"
Miss Farley opened her mouth, wanting to refute, but found herself unable to utter a word.
After all, the truth is the quickest way to cut.
"Of course, it's not your fault that you, having been poisoned by the Dark Lord, have abandoned some of the excellent qualities of Slytherin. Rather, it's a problem accumulated by generations of Slytherin," Veratia said softly. "I think it's time to correct these bad habits."
Miss Farley suddenly remembered that Veratia was still sitting with Harry after the Sorting.
"Do you care a lot about the opinions of other colleges?" she asked tentatively.
She thought that Harry must have told her about Slytherin, which was why she had this idea.
"That's my assessment," Veratia said with a slight smile. "At the same time, it's also your assessment of yourselves—a person can be as humble as dust, but should never be as twisted as a maggot."
"I understand, Miss Grindelwald," Miss Farley said, but she did not agree with Veratia's words.
In her view, those in Slytherin who were not within her sphere of influence had nothing to do with her.
"Well, there's another question," Veratia said softly. "You seem to know Harry quite well? I'd like to hear your story."
Upon hearing this, Miss Farley instinctively felt a chill run down her spine.
This feeling of being caught red-handed...
She devised a strategy almost in the blink of an eye.
So she told Veratia everything, from her duel with Harry to the Christmas present.
At the same time, Veratia's gaze changed from being full of smiles to being calm.
"I see..." Veratia said, seemingly understanding. "Well, it's getting late, I think we should go to sleep, shouldn't we?"
"Yes, Miss Grindelwald," Miss Farley readily agreed.
To everyone's surprise, Miss Grindelwald dined at the Gryffindor's long table for several days in a row.
The Gryffindors themselves didn't have any objections to this, after all, it wasn't a big deal for a Slytherin to come over for a meal and some study.
Besides, this is just a transfer student who has just arrived at Hogwarts, and has no grudge against Gryffindor...
But the Slytherin didn't see it that way.
Even if her surname Grindelwald and she might be a descendant of Grindelwald, she shouldn't stoop so low as to get so close to Gryffindor, let alone chat and laugh with that know-it-all Mudblood.
What, is there no one in Slytherin you care about?
But everyone was wary of the Grindelwald name, and no one wanted to be the first to step forward.
Several days passed in this way, and they observed her in secret. In class, Miss Grindelwald's performance was mediocre, and her mastery of Charms was only average.
However, just as they were getting ready to make their move, a little news item was leaked from somewhere.
This Miss Grindelwald is not a descendant of Mr. Grindelwald; it just happens to be a surname.
After learning the "truth," several sixth and seventh-year students in Slytherin immediately banded together, planning to teach Grindelwald a lesson that night.
