Who Else Would Love You, Dumbledore?
Just then, the Waterspout Gargoyle jumped to the side.
Just as Abufosi was lost in thought, a middle-aged man with greasy hair like seaweed walked out of the Headmaster's Office.
The two looked at each other, their expressions revealing mutual dislike.
Snape knew Abufosi; he happened to be present when Snape overheard the Prophecy more than a decade ago.
Abufosi disliked this Death Eater and kicked him out.
Of course, Abufosi also recognized this greasy-haired seaweed.
To be honest, Abufosi had a very bad impression of the informant.
I really don't know Albus's brain has been pickled in syrup, which is why he would recruit someone like this to be a teacher at the school.
He had heard more than one classmate complain that the teacher was extremely biased towards Slytherin and did not act like a qualified teacher at all.
However, since Albus was able to recruit Gellert, it's not surprising that he recruited this former Death Eater with greasy hair...
but...
Damn it, is Hogwarts the lair of Dark Wizard?
Thinking about this made Abufosi even more upset.
He looked at Snape with disgust, and the two of them let out a synchronized "humph."
To everyone's surprise, the Waterspout Gargoyle jumped back.
"Password!" the Waterspout Gargoyle said rigidly.
Snape noticed Abufosi's expression, and then, considering that his destination was the Headmaster's Office...
He naturally assumed that the boss in front of him couldn't be looking for anything good from the Headmaster.
Since that's the case...
"Honeydukes," he said.
Having said that, Snape left without looking back.
Abufosi glanced at Snape's retreating figure, said nothing more, and entered the Headmaster's Office.
In the Headmaster's Office, Dumbledore was sitting in a chair, leisurely eating candy.
Fawkes stood on the bird stand, wiggling its tail to preen its feathers.
"Albus Dumbledore!"
A roar filled with anger echoed throughout the Headmaster's Office, Fawkes lost his balance and fell off the bird stand.
Fortunately, it could fly. After flapping its wings twice, it flew back to the stand and glared at Abufosi with a disgruntled look.
"Abufosi?"
When Dumbledore noticed that the person who came to the Headmaster's Office was Abufosi, a clear look of surprise flashed in his eyes.
What is he doing in the Hogwarts Headmaster's office?
Wait, how did he get in?
The portraits in the Headmaster's Office also woke up from their sleep, rubbing their eyes to see who was so irritable.
It's so late at night, can't they let the portrait artist sleep?
Even portraits need to sleep, you know!
"It's me, Albus."
Abufosi walked up to Dumbledore, angrily grabbed a chair, and stomped on it.
"I heard you recruited your old... that Dark Wizard to Hogwarts?"
Dumbledore opened his mouth.
How did Abufosi know?
He wants to know the answer to this question right now.
Why did Abufosi know about this?
"Abufosi, this matter is complicated."
Dumbledore tried to explain the whole story to Abufosi.
"What the hell are you thinking, Albus?" Abufosi didn't give Dumbledore a chance to explain, launching into a tirade. "I knew it! You recruited that damned Dark Wizard leader into the school! Recruiting one former Death Eater wasn't enough, you actually had to recruit that damned Dark Wizard leader! I think your brain's been pickled in syrup!"
"The whole story is complicated, as I said, Abufosi." Dumbledore sighed wearily, then turned to Fawkes and said, "Go, send a letter to Miss Grindelwald, asking her to come to the Headmaster's Office —and bring Harry and Newt with you."
Abufosi initially intended to launch a tirade, but instead astutely seized upon a blind spot.
"What did you say?" Abufosi asked hesitantly. "You mean... Grindelwald... Miss? Not Mr.? Did that damned Grindelwald get a sex change? Ha! I knew you guys would pull something like this..."
"No, Abufosi." Dumbledore rubbed his temples. "It's Grindelwald's sister, the one who studied at Hogwarts for a few years—do you remember? When you were little, you loved hearing your father tell you stories about Mr. Harry Potter..."
"Oh."
Abufosi recalled that he had always idolized Harry and his friends back then.
"But Miss Grindelwald... seems to have disappeared, hasn't she? Just like Harry Potter and his companions?" Abufosi asked, frowning.
"You'll know the truth when they get here," Dumbledore said casually, reaching for a candy and handing it to Abufosi. "Have some candy."
Abufosi gave a dismissive look and shook his head in disdain.
He didn't want to eat candy from his brother.
"Oh, how did you know? I'm already a major shareholder in Honeydukes, Abufosi," Dumbledore said with a chuckle.
"Who asked you!" Abufosi said irritably.
The two brothers sat there in the Headmaster's Office, looking at each other without saying a word.
Just as Abufosi was about to lose his composure, the door to the Headmaster's Office opened, and several people walked in.
They are Veratia, Harry, and Newt.
"Headmaster."
Veratia nodded to Dumbledore, then looked at the old man beside him. In the two men's deep blue eyes, Veratia noticed something in common.
"This is... your brother?" she asked uncertainly.
"You are as perceptive as ever, Senior Grindelwald," Dumbledore said with a smile. "Yes, this is my brother, Abufosi Dumbledore."
"I see," Veratia said, suddenly realizing. "So, is there something important you wanted to discuss with us in the Headmaster's Office this time?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Headmaster Black's voice rang out from the wall.
"Hey, Grindelwald, you little brat, you didn't even greet the esteemed Headmaster? And you, Potter?"
"Hello, Headmaster Black," Veratia and Harry greeted each other together.
Headmaster Black then put his nightcap back on, satisfied, and went back to bed to continue sleeping soundly.
After exchanging greetings, the group sat down in a circle around the principal's desk in the Headmaster's Office.
Dumbledore served everyone a glass of lemonade—the kind with less sugar.
Seeing that the glass contained water instead of thick syrup, Newt picked it up with some skepticism, took a small sip, and then quickly put it down with a frown.
"It's too sweet, Albus," Newt commented. "I'd rather drink dishwater than drink lemonade this sweet."
"That's your regret, Newt," Dumbledore said with a smile.
"Alright, we didn't come here to watch you reminisce," Abufosi said coldly. "Albus, you should know just how unacceptable it is to hire a Dark Wizard like Grindelwald as a professor!"
"He's just a teaching assistant, Abufosi," Dumbledore said casually.
"I think you were ruined by him!" Abufosi blurted out, "Grindelwald, you are inherently evil! I should have seen through your true colors long ago. Otherwise, Ariana wouldn't have been killed by you!"
Upon hearing "Grindelwald, born evil," Veratia visibly lowered her eyelids, a glint of light flashing in her eyes.
Veratia sighed when she heard "Ariana".
Indeed, it was her inhuman brother who wronged Dumbledore and his family.
That jerk...
"What are you saying, you Goat Boy!"
Gellert arrived at the Headmaster's Office without anyone noticing. As soon as he entered, he heard Abufosi's words, which angered him so much that he immediately retorted.
"I bet you're Wales, kid, otherwise you wouldn't be hanging out with goats all the time..."
Although Gellert doesn't look like that, his appearance, voice, and words immediately reminded Abufosi of the rascal Germany guy who stole his brother's heart back then.
"Cruciatus Curse!"
"Protego Diabolica (Protego Diabolica)!"
Abufosi swiftly drew his wand, and a crimson Charms shot from its tip, striking Gellert.
However, a ring of blue flames erupted around Gellert, completely engulfing the scarlet Charms.
Harry looked at Veratia with surprise, as if to ask Gellert why he knew her signature Charms.
"My treasure trove also includes my notes and insights," Veratia whispered in Harry's ear.
Gellert's mouth is really sharp. Abufosi does like goats, but that's all he does—he just feeds them. But Gellert says he's Wales, which elevates his love of goats to another kind of... well, more like that kind of love.
It is well known that Wales people really love goats.
"Stop!" Dumbledore shouted, just as he had when he tried to break up a fight years ago.
"I think you've really been blinded by love, Albus!" Abufosi roared. "You've been ruined by this Germany! You can't listen to your own brother anymore!"
Newt lowered his head, but his expression clearly showed a "wow" look.
Hearsay is nothing compared to the fun of being there in person.
"He's panicking." Gellert, completely unconcerned about escalating the situation, said, "I told you so, that's why he's panicking!"
No sooner had she finished speaking than her mouth was sealed shut by Charms from her own older sister.
"So, can we sit down and have a calm and peaceful talk?" Veratia asked with a smile. "Gale? Is that possible?"
Gellert nodded and obediently sat back down in his chair.
"Abufosi." Dumbledore also looked at his brother.
Although still very angry, he suppressed his anger since Miss Grindelwald had set an example.
"I want to know what's going on." Abufosi glanced at Veratia. "Why would someone from a hundred years ago suddenly appear in the present—especially while still looking so young? Is it some kind of summoning magic? If possible..."
He didn't say the last sentence, but everyone knew he was thinking of Ariana.
"No, it's just Time Magic," Veratia said softly. "It's a kind of magic that can freeze me in time, allowing me to travel a hundred years into the future to find Harry."
"I see." Abufosi nodded with some disappointment, then suddenly looked up. "What did you say? Harry? Which Harry? That Harry? That Harry Potter?!"
At this point, he exclaimed in astonishment, "Merlin's beard! Isn't he Lily and James's son? How could he be...?"
"Hey! Goat Boy!"
Phineas's voice came from inside the picture frame. "I'm warning you, if you yell again, I'm going to deduct points from Gryffindor!"
He was clearly still half asleep and thought he was the Hogwarts Headmaster.
Harry seemed to have gotten used to this situation.
"If you're asking which Harry Potter, I am indeed that Harry Potter, and I am also this Harry Potter."
"Merlin's beard..." Abufosi leaned forward, still somewhat incredulous. "My God, are you really that legendary wizard? I grew up listening to your stories..."
This situation is somewhat impactful.
Imagine this: an old man with a white beard, his face etched with deep wrinkles, says to a cute boy who is clearly thirteen years old, "Hello, I grew up listening to your stories..."
"Uh, I'm not..." Harry's gaze darted to Gellert beside him.
But the problem was that, compared to Scarhead, Gellert suddenly found the Goat Boy in front of him quite handsome.
So Gellert had no intention of helping Harry out; instead, he sat on the sidelines watching the fun, practically munching on a handful of nuts.
However, Gellert had already thought of a way to get Harry out of the predicament, such as, "Hey, Goat Boy, Scarhead isn't a goat!"
"Since you can Time Travel, then could you...?"
Abufosi swallowed twice, glared fiercely at Gellert, then looked at Harry pleadingly. "Could you please save Ariana?"
Having seen Dumbledore's memories, Veratia naturally knew Ariana, but she didn't know about Abufosi's relationship with his sister, nor did she know about their family situation. So she asked, "Mr. Dumbledore, if it were convenient, would you tell us about your sister?"
Dumbledore looked up from his chair, and it was the first time Harry had ever seen him with such a slightly sad expression.
Abufosi sighed softly, as if he were organizing his thoughts, or perhaps he was unwilling to speak.
After a long while, he finally spoke.
"It all started when my sister was six years old..."
"It's actually quite infuriating to say that it happened around that time when she was attacked by three Muggle boys—it's ridiculous, but they saw her using magic through the hedge in the back garden. She was just a child and couldn't control it. You know, young wizards at that age can't control their magic. They can only sense it and passively follow its lead, rather than control it."
"You all know how resistant Muggle were to wizards back then. They thought Ariana was a monster, a freak... They squeezed through the hedges. My sister couldn't tell them how magic worked. Maybe they were jealous, or maybe they were motivated by something else, but they just wanted to stop the little monster from using magic again."
At this point, Abufosi's eyes were red, and his fists were clenched tightly. It seemed that if those Muggle children appeared in front of him, he would definitely throw out some unforgivable curse without hesitation.
In fact, Harry also sympathized with them—even he couldn't help but stand up for Veratia when he learned she was being bullied.
He instinctively reached out and took Veratia's hand.
Veratia returned a gentle smile, reached out and pulled Harry into her arms, slowly replenishing her magic.
Abufosi noticed Veratia and Harry's actions, and upon seeing the age difference between them, his eyebrows furrowed deeply.
But now is not the time to point out this problem. He continued, "That's how it is. What those bastards did ruined Ariana. Utterly ruined her. She never recovered. She didn't want to use magic, but she couldn't get rid of it. The magic entered her heart and drove her crazy... When she couldn't control it, the magic would take effect on her."
"Like Credence?" Newt asked softly. He didn't know anything about the Dumbledore, but he did know about Credence.
Credence Barryborn is the adopted son of Mary Lou Barryborn, but his true identity is Abufosi's son, whose real name is Aurelius Dumbledore.
As he said this, Newt was still wondering if the Obscurus also had the potential for a family trait.
Credence is Obscurus, and Obscurus is his aunt Ariana...
"Yes, just like him..." Abufosi covered his face, breathing heavily.
"Who is he...?" Veratia looked at Newt curiously.
Newt explained, "He is an Obscurial, and the son of Abufosi. Obscurial is a young wizard who, out of self-defense, suppresses his magical powers when he suffers great psychological trauma because of magic. However, due to a lack of guidance, he does not learn to control his powers, thus giving rise to a parasite—the dark magical power of the Obscurus."
"This is a powerful but extremely unstable and difficult-to-control form of Dark Arts. It moves at incredible speed and can detach from its host to attack others," Newt added, glancing at Gellert before continuing, "Your brother wanted to control Credence and thus master this terrifying dark magic, even going so far as to deceive Credence..."
Veratia didn't say anything, but Gellert felt a sharp slap on the back of his head from an invisible hand.
"Sister!" Gellert protested indignantly.
Veratia didn't say anything, but just looked at Fox, who was still preening his feathers and seemed to be pinching his Fawkes, as if nothing had happened.
Fawkes chirped, and the little bird flew back to Veratia's side, seemingly trying to win over her mother-in-law.
Yes, after all, Fiona is theoretically Veratia's daughter.
Abufosi saw Gellert get slapped and a gloating smile appeared on his face.
He continued, "Actually, Ariana... it's not really his fault that she became like that. Sometimes she's weird and dangerous, but most of the time she's cute, timid, and harmless."
"My father went to settle scores with those bastards," Abufosi looked up, tears seemingly glistening in his eyes. "He was furious and taught those Muggle a lesson, and as a result, he was imprisoned in Azkaban —he never said why he did it, and if the Ministry of Magic finds out about Ariana's condition, she will be imprisoned in St Mungo's Hospital for life."
"They would see her as a serious threat to the International Statute of Secrecy because she is mentally unstable and her inner magic would erupt when she was out of control."
Upon hearing this, Veratia reached out and took Harry's hand.
"That's how the Ministry of Magic is," she said softly.
Newt lowered his head and echoed, "Yeah, it hasn't changed even now—always so incompetent."
Abufosi rubbed his face, trying to calm himself down. "We had to keep her safe and hide Ariana, so we moved and pretended she was sick. My mother took care of her and tried to keep her calm and happy."
"She liked me the most, not Albus," Abufosi said, his voice brimming with nostalgia and longing for a better life. "When Albus was home, he always stayed in his bedroom upstairs, reading his books, counting his awards, and corresponding with 'the most famous magician of the time,'" Abufosi said with a sneer. "You know what? Albus didn't care about her at all. Little Anna liked me the most... When my mother couldn't get her to eat, I could coax her to eat; when she had a tantrum, I could calm her down; when she was quiet, she often helped me feed the sheep."
"Goat Boy..." Gellert muttered in a voice that was barely audible.
It's clear that he doesn't quite approve of Abufosi's hobbies.
"Later, she turned fourteen... Alas, I wasn't there. I was studying at Hogwarts at the time and couldn't possibly get back." Abufosi's eyes glistened with tears as he said this. "If I had been there, I would have calmed her down."
"She was in a very bad state at the time, unable to control Obscurus, even worse than Credence was," Abufosi sighed. "You know— Newt should know—what Credence was like when he was angry. No one could control him..."
"That's because you're incompetent, Goat Boy," Gellert mocked mercilessly. "I could easily subdue your Obscurus son..."
Abufosi said nothing, but gave him a Cruciatus Curse.
Fortunately, Gellert knew the consequences of his outspokenness. A swirl of blue flames in front of him engulfed the Charms.
"So that's how my mother died, accidentally injured by little Anna." Abufosi glanced at Dumbledore with resentment as he said this, "If Albus had stayed to help my mother take care of little Anna, she wouldn't have died... But at the time, all he could think about was traveling the world with Elphias Doge —that is, Ephias Elphias Doge."
"But because of his mother's accident, he had to give up his plans to travel the world."
Gellert raised his head again.
Ephias Elphias Doge?
Albus has a friend like this? A friend he wants to plan a trip around the world with?
At this moment, Dumbledore showed a somewhat guilty expression.
In fact, Abufosi admitted that if he had abandoned his ideals and taken care of his family, his mother would not have died.
Abufosi glanced at Dumbledore with a mocking look and said, "I told Albus that I was willing to take care of my sister, that I didn't care about going to school, and that I could stay home and study on my own."
"But he said I had to finish my studies and he would take over my mother's place—which was a bit of a disappointment for Mr. Elite, taking care of a half-mad sister and stopping her from blowing up the house every other day. Nobody would give him an award for that, but he did a good job for the first few weeks... Then this guy came."
At this point, Abufosi revealed a sinister smile and pointed at Gellert sat calmly in his chair.
"Grindelwald, in that year in Godric's Hollow, Grindelwald came to my home... Finally, Albus had a conversational partner, someone as intelligent and talented as himself."
"It was because of him that taking care of Ariana became no longer important; in his eyes, his sister was just a burden."
"They spend all their time plotting to establish a new wizarding order, searching for the Deathly Hallows, doing everything that interests them... What does it matter if a little girl is neglected for the sake of a grand plan, for the benefit of the entire Wizarding World? The great Albus is working for For the Greater Good!"
"I'm sorry, Abufosi," Dumbledore sighed. "It's my fault, I admit it."
Abufosi's words were like having his heart ripped out and hung bloodily on the wall.
However, Abufosi did not accept Dumbledore's apology. He continued, "Just a few weeks later, I had had enough, I really had enough. I was about to go back to Hogwarts, so I told them, I told both of them, face to face, just like I am now," Abufosi looked angrily at Dumbledore and Gellert, "I told Albus if he wanted to take care of Ariana, he'd better abandon his bullshit plans now."
"I think he's hypocritical and selfish." Abufosi glared at Dumbledore. "You know what? On one hand, he promised me he would take good care of Ariana and let me focus on my studies; but at the same time, he planned to leave and abandon little Anna, who had already become dependent on him. He thinks we are both a burden to him, just like his best friend Grindelwald thinks we are both mediocre people."
"I never thought so, Abufosi," Dumbledore sighed.
"Really? You really don't?" Abufosi asked coldly. "Since you don't think so, why are you, like Grindelwald, so foolishly pursuing the Deathly Hallows, so obsessed with becoming the master of god of death, and thus the possessor of supreme power?"
"I just want to create a world, a world where wizards can live openly in the presence of others," Dumbledore sighed softly. "A world where other wizards' children won't suffer the same fate as little Anna."
"So you don't understand," Gellert added. "Listen, Goat Boy, you and your sister are holding Al captive. A talent like him shouldn't be confined to Godric's Hollow; he should be fighting for the Wizarding World!"
"Bullshit!" Abufosi drew his wand again. "If you had any shame, you wouldn't be at Hogwarts —who are you trying to seduce this time? Those ignorant students? Come on, I won't let you succeed!"
"It was at this moment that Abufosi and Gellert started arguing."
Dumbledore began, "Just like now, the more they argued, the hotter they got. Gellert's words deeply offended Abufosi, so Gellert used the Cruciatus Curse first. I couldn't stand by and watch my brother fight with my best friend, so I joined the duel—and the result was that Ariana died."
"You're the ones who killed her!" Abufosi glared at Dumbledore. "If that bastard Grindelwald hadn't come to Godric's Hollow, this wouldn't have happened, but the blame can't be placed entirely on him, can it? And you, Albus, don't you think you should also be held responsible for Ariana's death?"
"You should admit, Albus, there's nothing shameful about it—in your eyes, the For the Greater Good is more important than your sister, isn't it? Your little sister is dispensable, while for the For the Greater Good, for the benefit of the majority, everyone can be sacrificed, right? Including your sister?"
"After that, Grindelwald ran away because he had a rather serious criminal record within the Austro-Hungarian Empire... As for Albus, you felt relieved after that, didn't you? No more burdens to hold you back, and you could be the greatest wizard without any worries... Look, President of the International Confederation of Wizards, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, Hogwarts Headmaster, Order of Merlin, First Class, but..."
"Who else will love you? Albus?"
As he finished speaking, Abufosi choked back tears and slumped into his chair, murmuring in a hoarse voice, "Poor little Anna, just like that, gone, gone forever..."
A silence fell over the Headmaster's Office.
Abufosi.
Dumbledore sighed.
"From that moment on, my heart has been in constant torment." He sighed softly, "Every minute and every second I regret why I didn't notice little Anna's strange behavior sooner."
"What's the use of regret?" Abufosi retorted angrily. "Can regret bring Anna back to life? You're still the same, Albus, you only care about yourself—now that I know Grindelwald is at Hogwarts, I will absolutely not allow a Dark Wizard to wreak havoc on Hogwarts! Albus, if you insist on keeping him at Hogwarts, then I will explain the situation to the Ministry of Magic —or, I will go to Wizengamot!"
"Hey, actually I didn't want to be at Hogwarts in the first place," Gellert said lazily. "If it weren't for my sister's insistence on Al, I might still be in Nurmengard watching the snow—of course, watching the snow isn't so bad, but being a teaching assistant would give me a much wider range of options."
"Your sister's request?" Abufosi scoffed, looking at Veratia. "Is that so, Miss Grindelwald? To be honest, I'm really reluctant to trust a Grindelwald, even if you're Harry Potter's friend."
"He stole from my vault, Abufosi." Veratia wasn't angry at this statement. "He stole the 2,763,215 Galleon I'd saved up over the years, along with a lot of alchemical materials, and some clothes I bought for Harry... like that star and moon nightgown."
Upon hearing this, Dumbledore's eye twitched slightly, but he concealed it well, looking at the teacup in his hand as if nothing had happened.
This cup...
What a cup!
"You damned beast!" Abufosi fist on the table, furiously launching into a tirade against Gellert, echoing Veratia's words. "What have you done?! How dare you steal your sister's hard-earned savings?! You deserve to die!"
After saying that, he seemed to remember something else.
"That's it! I was Albus always liked wearing that Star Moon Pajamas." Abufosi said as if he had solved a case. "So that bathrobe was a gift from Grindelwald to him—oh right, I remember Grindelwald seemed to have given Albus a lot of things back then. Besides the bathrobe, he also gave Al a Notebook to share. It seemed to contain a lot of powerful magic."
Veratia's eyes narrowed.
Powerful magic?
"How do you use fire magic, right?" she asked. "One way is to summon several magical flames to form a protective barrier around the body. It can also be combined with Legilimency to determine whether someone is friend or foe, right?"
"And another one is to summon a large area of flames, forming a passage in the middle of the flames..."
She was talking about magic she had created herself when she was bored. One of them was Protego Gubraithian, and the other was Fire God Paves the Way.
Dumbledore looked even more embarrassed. He pretended to be very interested in the patterns on the table and started tracing them with his finger.
"Yes, yes, that's it!" Abufosi nodded quickly and said, "The two of them were like they were possessed, practicing in Godric's Hollow, which even attracted the attention of the Auror. But you know your brother's eloquence, he seemed to have used some Galleon to dispel the Auror ' attention."
Veratia's smile became even gentler.
But her heart was bleeding.
He used all my money!!!
That spendthrift son!
If I had known you were such a spendthrift, I would have burned you to ashes back in Nurmengard.
Harry knew, of course, that Veratia's expression meant she was in a bad mood.
He quickly grabbed Veratia's hand and whispered, "My own brother, my own brother..."
Instead of comforting her, Veratia just got even angrier.
Good grief, so you're only doing this to your sister because you're siblings, right?
"Therefore, it is absolutely impossible for me to allow Grindelwald to continue in Hogwarts!" Abufosi added again.
Just as the atmosphere was becoming increasingly awkward, Newt suddenly lowered his head and raised his hand.
"However, I do have a suggestion," he said.
"Go ahead," Dumbledore said, as if he had seen a savior.
"There's still a little time left in the semester, I think it's best not to change the faculty or staff," Newt said quickly. "Maybe we could have Abufosi come here too. He doesn't trust Grindelwald anyway, so let him keep an eye on him—"
"At the end of this semester, Gale will return to Nurmengard," Veratia declared definitively.
Abufosi nodded and said, "Yes, I can accept these conditions. Also... I heard that the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts is also a Saints?"
"Uh," Dumbledore said somewhat awkwardly, "We've recently received numerous complaints from parents saying they absolutely will not allow a Dark Wizard to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, so... Ms. Rosier. Vera Rosier is preparing to resign."
"Putting aside her Saints, it would actually be quite good for her to be the Defense Against the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor," Newt said, looking down. "At least the students at Hogwarts like her now. I can't imagine how difficult it will be for her to win over the students next semester when she takes over as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."
Apart from Abufosi, everyone present thought for a moment, and then all mourned for the professor who would be leaving next year.
"This ending is actually quite good," Abufosi snorted. "I heard that Voldemort cursed this position, and if I remember correctly, very few Defense Against the Dark Arts professors have been able to leave safely since he placed the curse. It's not unacceptable that she was only reported."
Just then, far away in Nurmengard, Vera suddenly fell down the stairs, his bones making a cracking sound.
But those in the Headmaster's Office obviously wouldn't know about this.
"And what about you, Newt?" Abufosi looked at Newt. "I remember you hated going to work, so why did you come to Hogwarts?"
"Because of my aunt," Newt sighed, "My aunt isn't in very good health, so I need to stay at Hogwarts to take care of her."
This was just an excuse he made up; there were some things he didn't intend to say to Abufosi in front of Harry.
In fact, Newt had long wanted to quit working at Hogwarts. Just like when Dumbledore filled in for Defense Against the Dark Arts, Newt's Boggart showed that he hated going to work the most.
Bringing him to Hogwarts as a professor would be worse than killing him.
But here's the problem: his aunt is clearly more important than being tormented by work. If it could bring his aunt happiness, Newt would be willing to teach at Hogwarts from now on.
This is why he temporarily set aside his feud with Gellert, because there were more important things to do.
If it weren't for this incident, he might have gone to the America to investigate the Magical Creatures phenomenon long ago.
Just like Tina said, what's the point of going to America to see Magical Creatures? They don't welcome you at all, and you're even listed as one of the people who are not allowed to enter the country. There's no need to rush to go.
Even if you love Magical Creatures, you don't have to be this eager, do you?
"Your aunt?" Abufosi asked curiously. "I've never heard of you having an aunt before?"
"I'll introduce you to him in a few days," Newt could only say.
"I'm coming to Hogwarts tomorrow." As he said this, Abufosi glanced at the leisurely Gellert. "I'll keep a close eye on him to prevent him from causing trouble all the time and inciting his classmates to do things they shouldn't!"
Gellert casually put one hand behind his head and waved the other at Abufosi, just like Jerry's older cousin.
"Relax, Goat Boy," Gellert said casually. "I have no interest in stirring up these Hogwarts students—they've been completely corrupted by Hogwarts, and if it weren't for Vera coming here, I think their defense against the Dark Arts would be even worse."
Abufosi wanted to retort, but thinking of the Auror in the British wizarding world who couldn't even understand the Protego, he held back.
This is indeed a problem with Hogwarts.
"And what about your the Hog's Head Inn, Abufosi?" Dumbledore asked.
"I'll go back and run it tonight. Also, I can temporarily hire someone to work for me at the bar," Abufosi said gruffly. "You remember that kid from your Order of the Phoenix? The wolf... the kid who always goes to the Shrieking Shack? Remus Lupin?"
"Of course I remember," Professor Dumbledore nodded.
"I've temporarily hired him at the Hog's Head Inn, since he doesn't have any other work right now anyway."
At this point, Abufosi said irritably, "I don't think you're a qualified leader, Albus. Remus has been working tirelessly for you, and you can't even provide him with the most basic necessities of life."
"His identity is somewhat special, Abufosi," Dumbledore sighed. "You know, someone like him has a very hard time finding a job in the Magical World."
but...
Dumbledore suddenly remembered that perhaps Remus Lupin could replace Vera Rosier as the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor for the next semester?
The more he thought about it, the more suitable it seemed. Lupin was living in poverty and probably wouldn't care too much about Voldemort's curse.
"But that's Albus," Abufosi said gruffly. "As for those Potions, I think that's your responsibility!"
"Very well," Dumbledore nodded. "After all, I'm now a major shareholder of Honeydukes."
Upon hearing this, everyone present turned pale.
Goodness, it's been almost half a year, hasn't it?
How come you haven't forgotten about this?
However, Dumbledore didn't care at all about the strange looks he received.
"Oh, and another thing," he added, "I think we could recruit Remus into Hogwarts next year, since we do need a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."
As he said this, Dumbledore winked mysteriously at Harry.
Harry didn't know what Dumbledore meant; he just thought it was a joke Dumbledore making with his students.
Dumbledore assumed Harry would know of Lupin's existence, given that he had seen his mother's memories.
But here's the problem: when they see the memories, both James Potter and Sirius Black to Lupin as "Moony," not Remus or Lupin.
They might call Lupin by name in other contexts, but at least not in Harry's memories.
"Perhaps the Hog's Head Inn should be renamed," Dumbledore said meaningfully. "Abufosi, what do you think of the name Wolf Head Inn?"
"That's not funny, Albus." Abufosi glared at Dumbledore.
Although Lupin is Werewolf, he will not cause any harm as long as the Wolfsbane Potion is available.
This is a recently invented Potions; if taken a week before the full moon, Werewolf will retain his sanity even after transforming into a wolf.
But Dumbledore knew that Severus happened to be able to brew this Potions.
However, the price of Wolfsbane Potion is quite high. Dumbledore did a quick calculation and found that Lupin would need to use at least six bottles of Wolfsbane Potion before he could attend Hogwarts, which meant that he would have to pay for six bottles for Lupin.
Despite the money being spent, Dumbledore wasn't too bothered, since Lupin was a member of his Order of the Phoenix.
But here's the problem: if Lupin were to enter the school, the cost of the Wolfsbane Potion could be submitted to the Board of Governors for reimbursement.
It would be a good thing to save some money, Dumbledore wouldn't mind poaching some members from the Board of Governors.
The matter was settled, and Abufosi didn't say anything more about it.
Gellert, on the other hand, looked pleased and repeatedly praised Abufosi's contributions to him in private.
He genuinely didn't want to be a teaching assistant at Hogwarts. He felt that someone like him should live in a quieter place instead of being bothered by a bunch of silly boys.
However, he also quite liked Ron; at least Ron was a simple-minded kid, and they got along very well.
Gellert's friendship with Ron also evolved from being driven by self-interest to genuinely wanting to be friends with Ron.
Ron, of course, didn't know Gellert's true identity; otherwise, he might have fainted from fright.
Gellert Grindelwald's buddy, isn't he the undisputed second-in-command of the Witchcraft Party?
That would get him thrown into prison; at least Azkaban couldn't hold him.
At the same time, Gellert also became nervous.
Since I'll be leaving Hogwarts next semester, it's time to put the matter of breaking up my sister and Scarhead on the agenda.
How should we break them up?
Gellert muttered to himself, feeling he should find a foolproof solution.
Looking for Miss Malfoy?
But Miss Malfoy is currently trapped somewhere too far away to be of any use.
Miss Sweeting, the Unicorn?
It's a bit unreliable, this Unicorn... I don't think she'll amount to anything.
Gellert began to rack his brains, trying to figure out what to do.
After thinking about it for several days, he actually came up with a good idea.
"That's settled then!" he thought happily, getting up to go and discuss it with Newt.
