Liu Congming presents himself as carefree, chatty, and somewhat foolish, readily calling himself an idiot among smarter people. He avoids prolonged anxiety, preferring to relax after surviving an ordeal rather than worry about future exams. 140 229 247

The persona is deliberately misleading. He is observant, opportunistic, and adept at exploiting chance, loopholes, and other people’s assumptions. He follows Ji Yan because he considers him a “Child of Fortune,” while privately treating their partnership as a calculated survival strategy. 144 230

Other players accuse him of using his Unlucky Eerie to redirect misfortune onto teammates, and Ji Yan explicitly recognizes that Liu is not the kind of person who would sacrifice himself to save another. Liu Congming enters the dungeon as Square 2 and becomes Ji Yan’s dormitory roommate. His cheerful chatterbox act conceals his knowledge of the school’s dangers and the Unlucky Eerie’s mechanics. 140 144

He gains a notorious reputation for surviving through luck manipulation and for allowing others to bear misfortune in his place. Despite this, he helps Ji Yan deduce that the Square Eerie Teacher engineered the Abyssal Apartment trap. 146 178

During the Purgatory Exam, Liu is decapitated and apparently killed by Ji Luo’s scheme. He survives by using Good Pregnancy to implant a newborn into Ji Luo, then bursts from Ji Luo’s body and kills him. 209 210

Liu later admits that he used Fate’s Final Summon on Ji Yan from the beginning because he believes Ji is essential to his survival. He reaches the Experimental Class by clearing the dungeon through luck rather than faction participation. 230 304

Eternal Night Sin City

After entering a discarded dungeon with Ji Yan, Liu becomes the wielder of the Scorpio Totem. He and Xue use Phasing and Shielding Mask to infiltrate the Labyrinth of Fallen Gods, retrieve puppet figurines, and evade the Deformed Eye Ruin Master. 396

His Phasing remains crucial during the group’s later operations, allowing him to evade powerful attacks and assist in delaying enemies while other allies infiltrate deeper objectives. 410 411

Grave Mound Ghoul Prison

As House Guardian of Liu’s Haunted House, Liu is unknowingly affected by a cursed Ivory Necklace that causes his own haunted-house specters to reject him. Ji Yan, disguised as the Oil Lamp Ghost, helps expose the item. 728 729

Liu acquires Absolute Luck by manipulating the Qipao Eerie Woman and using the Unlucky Eerie to absorb a Luck Eerie. He then enters the Right Ear Room through an improbable chance. 736
