Background / History
Tai Cang was originally a stubborn stone whose transformation into an innate deity left him with low-grade aptitude. Seeking to alter that fate, he proactively joined Tongtian's Intercepting Sect as an inner disciple, which activated his System and granted him access to the Upper Clarity Tongtian Art. 1 13
His first System quest began when Cihang attempted to claim the spiritual land around Tai Cang's bamboo house. Tai Cang defeated Cihang in close combat, earned a max-level privilege, and received the cultivation method for Primordial Clarity Divine Thunder. 1 2
Tai Cang's rapid advancement drew Duobao's hostility. After cultivating the Upper Clarity Tongtian Art to the eighth layer and repelling Duobao, he was confined at Siguo Cliff for five hundred years. The punishment became a concealed opportunity: he inherited the Grand Clarity Alchemy Technique, Primordial Clarity Artifact Forging Technique, and Shangqing Sword Art from the Three Pure Ones' place of manifestation. 4 5
Laozi later established Tai Cang as the Cang Gate and bestowed the Nine Revolutions Cang Skill and True Martial Black Eagle Banner upon him. Hongjun subsequently recognized him as the Cang Gate's successor after he passed the Heavenly Dao's trial. 18 107
Personality
Tai Cang is intensely pragmatic about cultivation and opportunity. He actively seeks difficult quests, treats techniques and treasures as means to secure independence, and repeatedly refuses to tie his future entirely to the Intercepting Sect despite Tongtian's offers. 1 30 73
He is calculating in conflict but not indiscriminately cruel. During the Beast Realm trial, he injured Wudang, Jinling, and Guiling to complete a System mission, yet also saved them from poisoned arrows and a pursuing beast. He later aided Yunxiao, Bixiao, and Qiongxiao without seizing their Jade Disc of Creation fragment. 22 59 60
As a teacher and sect leader, Tai Cang values character, potential, discipline, and loyalty. He tested Shi Hao's character before accepting him, selected disciples for their physiques and potential, and imposed recurring assessments on every level of the Intercepting Sect. 51 73 91
Abilities & Skills
Grand Perfection System
Tai Cang's System issues quests and rewards him with one-click max-level privileges. These privileges can instantly perfect cultivation arts, divine abilities, and other techniques.
- Maximized the Upper Clarity Tongtian Art shortly after entering the Intercepting Sect, allowing the technique to operate automatically. 1
- Maximized the Nine Revolutions Cang Skill, which likewise began continuously refining and increasing his mana without deliberate seclusion. 19
- Can use System scans to evaluate another person's race, physique, and cultivation potential, which he employs while choosing disciples. 50 51 68 91
- Many privileges require completion of dangerous or politically costly quests, including defeating rivals, acquiring inheritances, and recruiting followers. 2 11 58 74
Sword Dao
Tai Cang's principal offensive path is the Shangqing Sword Art, later supplemented by Zhu Xian Sword Intent, the Heaven-Opening Three Forms, and several powerful swords.
- The Shangqing Sword Art possesses five ultimate techniques: Five Elements, Yin Yang, Four Spirits, Three Talents, and Wuji. 6
- He can merge sword qi, mana, and sword intent into the technique known as “I am the sword,” turning his own body into a sword-like attack. 6 22
- He mastered Zhu Xian Sword Intent and the Heaven-Opening Three Forms before accepting the position of Young Sect Master. 74
- His sword intent allowed him to overwhelm Guangchengzi and the Twelve Golden Immortals while standing still. 16
Primordial Clarity Divine Thunder
Tai Cang obtained Primordial Clarity Divine Thunder from Cihang, then raised it to max level through the System.
- Uses destructive black lightning in direct combat and to create lightning cages that restrict an opponent's movement. 2 10
- Employed it against Duobao's ambush, Grand Unity-level beasts, and the Golden Crow Princes. 11 23 24
- Can combine it with sword attacks and arrays to annihilate groups of enemies. 26 57
- The thunder is not universally effective: one Beast Realm creature swallowed it and continued pursuing him. 22
Body Refinement and Martial Dao
Tai Cang cultivates both mana and physical strength, combining the Grand Clarity Bright Jade Body, the Nine Revolutions Cang Skill, Pangu pure blood, and his self-developed Martial Dao.
- The Grand Clarity Bright Jade Body strengthened his aptitude to mid-level innate deity before later bloodline evolution elevated him to top-tier innate deity. 13 36
- His body became comparable to that of a Great Witch, enabling him to shatter an acquired spiritual treasure with a bare fist. 35 55
- His Pangu pure blood was produced through Ancestral Witch essence blood and enhanced his prospects of proving the Dao. 36
- Tai Cang developed the Martial Dao through combat, incorporating techniques such as Flower Plucking Finger, Great Compassionate Palm, Eight Extremities Collapse, Heavenly Frost Fist, and Wind God's Leg. 48
- He later taught the Martial Dao to the Human Race. 51
Laws, Transformations, and Movement
Tai Cang accumulates law attainments through cultivation, Jade Disc fragments, Shenni's inheritance, and the System.
- Mastered the Thirty-Six Transformations and gained introductory command of its associated thirty-six divine abilities. 31
- Demonstrated dual mastery of the laws of space and time by immobilizing Mu Cang before severing his arm. 56
- Comprehended the Law of Life to heal Yunxiao and the Gold Law from a Jade Disc fragment. 60
- Uses the Golden Crow Transformation Rainbow Technique alongside the Nine Heavens Divine Boots for extreme movement speed. 29 57
- His four Grand Perfection laws were stated to give him combat power comparable to a Quasi-Saint. 90
Alchemy and Artifact Forging
Tai Cang inherited and perfected techniques from the Grand Clarity and Primordial Clarity lineages.
- Uses the Grand Clarity Alchemy Technique to refine powerful medicinal pills, including Bloodline Pills for the Witch Clan. 5 35
- Uses the Primordial Clarity Artifact Forging Technique to forge top-grade acquired spiritual treasures. 12 16
- Forged complete fire-elemental treasure sets for the Ten Golden Crow Princes, including the life-saving jade pendant Divine Evasion. 12
- Refined the Twenty-Four Dinghai Pearls and Heaven and Earth Cang Huang Ruler into the Twenty-Four Heavens. 77
Heaven and Earth Dharma Idol
Tai Cang obtained the divine ability Heaven and Earth Dharma Idol from a jade talisman taken from Duobao's storage ring.
- The art was created by Tongtian with reference to the true forms of Witch Clan great shamans. 24
- It sacrifices the true form's defensive properties for destructive power. 24
- Its strength rises with Tai Cang's cultivation and can potentially approach an Ancestral Witch's true-form power. 24
